2018 Nissan Altima Other Problems

When backing up, often times my rear camera screen goes black and I’m unable to see anything. It is not consistent and sometimes it appears to be distorted like a tv channel trying to clear. There have been no accidents and the most recent incident was on 1/3/24.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 nissan altima. The contact stated that his vehicle was rear ended when he was stopped at a stop sign. The contact was transported to the hospital by ambulance for back pains and facial injuries.

Crash warning radar keeps going in and out of detection. It will start in mode correctly and then become unavailable especially when it rains or at high speeds.

Since the time this vehicle was new the frontal automatic emergency braking (aeb) system turns itself off randomly while driving regardless of weather or road conditions. On other occasions it gives false warnings causing the vehicle to automatically apply the brakes to avoid what it considers an imminent collision hazard.

Just purchased this vehicle the feb collision light keep coming on while driving

The forward collision warning component becomes 'unavailable' when there is nothing (no dirt or rain, snow) blocking the sensor. I keep the sensor wiped clean and on a nice sunny day, while vehicle is in motion on the highway, boulevard, residential streets. The sensor warning will tell me 'fcw unavailable' with the 'symbol' of two cars crashing.

While driving vehicle a notification of 'feb: unavailable front radar obstruction' is constantly coming on lcd screen on dashboard while a check light of 2 vehicles in head on collision constantly shows up and leaves the dashboard.

Front crash camera. It goes off for no reason. If I'm driving on the freeway & it just goes off, if I'm going on a flyover ramp it picks up the ctb (concrete traffic barrier) & goes off again.

Was traveling over snowy mountain pass. My mileage was 65 with heavy traffic. The forqard crash warning system failed and said unavailable then reported I had been in a front end collision.

Your hood latch was treated with a spray during a 2022 recall instead of being replaced. Now you're experiencing problems with the latch again, suggesting the spray was only a temporary fix. This could potentially create a safety hazard if the hood opens while driving. A proper hood latch replacement may be needed to fully resolve the issue.

The brake light switch fails which will not allow me to start vehicle with push start. Already replaced switch once while vehicle under warranty. Now around 60,000 miles it started failing intermittently.

Took car for inspection check engine light on will not pass mechanic said same issueue as recall PC716. Said was under recall nissan recall does not include the VIN so would not repair need to add VIN to recall since it is same issue. Can not drive until repaired.

CVT transmission, yes its available for inspection. Loss complete horsepower on highway after it jerked. Kids in car at time.

I was riding down the road and the interior overhead dome light just fell out and was hanging. It was hanging right by my head. I researched this issue and it seems to be a REGULAR occurrence in these cars and the dealer wanted to charge me to fix it even though I have a warranty.

When pressing the brakes the push button does not start the car. The car also will not shift from park to drive even if the brakes are pressed. There are no warning lights and the problem has been “fixed” once by a Nissan dealership already but it is a recurring issue.

My transmission began shuddering then next couple days when I put the car in reverse it would stick and when I put it in drive it would hesitate to move. Then when it did move it wouldn’t get up to at least 55 miles per hour. Took it to Nissan, put it on the rack ($170) test indicated that transmission was shot

Battery cables corrosion is awful. I have replaced my battery three times since buying this car in 2018

Backup camera works on and off. Sometimes nothing but black

When driving my 2018 nissan altima, the car beeps and the message "front radar obstruction" appears. Then the automatic emergency braking (aeb) system warning light comes on. It goes off and comes back on later.

While driving a sensor light appears and reads obstruction unavailable and stays for several minutes before turning off this happens at least 5 to 6 times a week.

The front electronic braking system feb intermittently goes out saying "front radar obstruction" every time I drive the car. If the car is turned off then back on it works normally but will happen again within an hour or so every time it's driven, no exceptions.

2018 nissan altima - front radar unavailable. This vehicle will have the intelligent brake assist unexpectedly be disengaged. A warning light and sound will be activated indicating that the the brake assist has been rendered useless as well as the cruise control function.

The front end obstruction light and warning sound come on everytime I drive my vehicle, then go off and come back on. I can be driving at any speed and with nothing around me. Sometimes it causes my car to slow down.

Anytime I pull my hood release, my hood never opens & I hear no click .

The system that’s got the issue is the backup camera. When I’m backing up periodically, all of a sudden it’ll go black or really dim to where I’m not able to see anything. I never know when it’s going to go black or dim, but it will happen when I’m backing up.

Gear shift will not leave park when car is first started, usually when vehicle is cold.

Just bought the car

I took it to get my inspection and they told me I have two recalls

Automatic breaking will shut off for about 5 minutes on occasion; especially when turning towards an embankment (I.e. Making a left turn and there's an island there).

Foward emergency braking (feb) system malfunctioning or inoperable/unavailable while the vehicle was in motion on a highway. When this occurs, an orange symbol light in the dash illuminates and I am unable to use the cruise control or the climate control system. The feb seems to return to normal when I stop the vehicle and restart the engine.

Car is #1 of the top 10 stolen cars. Consumer was not alerted to that prior to purchase.

Forward emergency braking radar keeps disabling with the radar clear

Vehicle displays automatic braking system not available while driving.

Front radar obstruction appears approximately every ten minutes, for no reason.

Front radar obstruction goes off. Recently it caused problems with my ABS to not work and disengage at times. Could be driving on an empty road and it will go off.

I purchased a used 2018 altima yesterday. During the test drive and during my commute this morning, I received an error message "radar unavailable front obstruction". Upon research, this is a problem known to nissan with the bosch sensor mounted in the front grill.

Front sensor keeps going off and on even when not around any cars... Backup camera cuts off and on while reversing

On one occassion the radio system froze and the back up camera wasn't working because the screen went black. Volume also could not be turned down

Vehicle in motion, the flaw is in the front radar/distance sensor unit allows the sensor to frequently deactivate itself, disabling cruise control and emergency braking. When the sensor turn itself off, drivers are seeing a warning in the dash that says, 'front radar unavailable due to obstruction.'

The 2018 nissan altima sv has the error "unavailable: front radar obstruction." after taking the vehicle to a mechanic they determine the part is faulty and no system errors are present. (document can be uploaded upon request)

The automatic emergency braking light arbitrarily comes on and stays on. I can be at a full stop and the light comes. See the attached picture.

Some unauthorized person opened the trunk by a remote devic e. Car was parked, engine off.

While driving during rain conditions, the forward radar repeatedly disables itself with an "obstruction" warning, which also disables the automatic emergency braking function. This issue does not present during dry weather conditions, and does not happen while transiting through a car wash. This problem was first noted in october 2018 when driving in rainy weather for the first time.
