2015 Nissan Altima Airbags Problems

Failure of Airbags to deploy after a rear end collision by another car. On 01.31.2025. My vehicle - a Nissan Altima 2015 was hit by an SUV while stopped at an intersection behind another vehicle.

My car has been to Nissan service 3 times for a faulty airbag light - it thinks the driver seat is unoccupied when it is not - that means the air bag may not activate. The dealer has been able to turn off the light but it eventually comes back on. It meets all the criteria below for the recall but the VIN is excluded.

Air bag light will not go out. Looking to see if there is any recall for airbags. No accidents or impact to vehicle.

For the past year in a half I have had my airbag light on. I took it to Nissan they told me I needed a new seat which; the seat moves fine and theres no actual known problem with it. I then took it to a different Nissan and they said it was a side airbag module coming from the left side.

I have been receiving recalls for my car regarding the transmission the extended the warranty, the primary hood latch disengaged which could obscure the drivers vision increasing the risk of a crash.

The airbag like have been on for about 3 weeks..the nissan dealer inform me that the airbag component entire system is faulty..my car is a 2015, with only 30k miles on it, never been in an accident, I dont drive it that much, just got it inspected in july, now in september it has a faulty air bag system. I was driving when a man ran the stop sign and plowed into the side of my car. I could see that he was not going to stop so I swerved and started braking in order to miss him. Issues with the hood latch not wanting to properly latch and setting off alarm and signal inside the car dash also this vehicle keeps saying that there is no one in the passenger seat when they're indeed is someone in the passenger seat and the airbag will not deploy if in a car crash I don't know why my car wasn't included in this recall that was for both of these issues but it has both of these issues coming through a carmax dealership

`driving from a customer business my red light for supplemental air bag came on . I took the car to the local dealer and they diagnosed and ordered a air bag module. When part came in on april 13th 2015 with miles of 11276 dealer rep said that the module did not turn red light off.

My car air bag light came on while I was driving but I didnt think much about it, I drove it like that for a couple months, my husband told me to take it to the dealer to get checked out, first dealer told me the cost was going to be 1600.00 and they quoted me the part was going to cost 1200.00, I refused to pay that much and we were able to get the price lowered to 900.00 but they couldn't fix it because the part was on back order, so they reset the air bag when I left the dealer the airbag light was off, the next day the light came back on, a few days later I took it to another dealer to see what they would say, first day they reset the airbag light I asked if the airbag is activated they said they did not know, I said well its still a safety issue, I asked how can the airbag be deployable then, he said we will need to change out the airbag, so they ordered the airbag and eventually replaced it, I asked what if the light comes on again he said then we will have to see whats next on the list of parts to replace, so in other words it just change out parts by trial and error, I drove off and the following day while I was driving the airbag light came on again and unfortunately I am driving my car with out a activated airbag, I am afraid to take it to the dealer again because of the cost and trial by error them not knowing how to pin point the problem, currently the airbag light stays on and I was told by the dealer that my air bag is not activated while that light is on.

Passenger front airbag intermittently deactivates even with a 120 pound adult sitting in the seat. Warning light that the air bag is deactivated comes on. On other random trips the air bag appears to be armed, with no warning light.

After starting the vehicle while still stationary, the front passenger airbag is disarmed despite there being a passenger in the seat. The vehicle must be restarted frequently until the light indicates the airbag is armed. I have taken it to the dealer on two separate occasions but both times they found nothing wrong and could only re-calibrate the sensor.

The front passenger airbag light comes on while the vehicle is moving and while there is an adult in the seat. The dealership checked the system and stated there were no problems detected. The system has continued to malfunction.

The passenger airbag sensor occasionally malfunctions and the "air bag off" light will illuminate when the passenger seat is indeed occupied by an adult. This happens approximately 10% of the time the seat is occupied. This is a commonly recurring complaint on the NHTSA site.

My air bag says it is off when someone is sitting in the seat. It doesn't do it ever time but it has done it quite a bit. When I took it to my dealership I bought it from they told me there isn't anything they could do because the light was working properly when I took it to them.

From time to time the warning light that states that the front passenger air bag is not working comes on. When this occured the passengere was an adult at a weight greater than 150 pounds. The only way to get the light to go off and have the air bag work was to turn the car off and then start it again.

I was on the 15 freeway going home and bent down to pick up something I dropped and hit the car that was stopped in front of me. What I remember is my glasses flying off and I hit my chest and head on the steering wheel and also broke my foot. At that time I realized that the air bag did not deploy and the seat belt did not hold me and I hit the steering wheel with full force.

My airbag light stays on with or without people in the seat. Vehicle has 120,000 miles.

Airbag light ON permanently all of the sudden on the dashboard. If the airbag system is not working properly it puts me and my passengers at risk of serious injuries if they don't work properly. No one has checked it since it appeared Aug 1, 2022.

When an adult is sitting in the passenger seat the airbag is turned off. When we stop the car the passenger gets out and then back in the airbag is turned on but then turns it self off again.

Takata recall - is this vehicle subject to recall? Also, the passenger side airbags will only deploy when the passenger weighs over ~110 lbs. My wife is 5'2" & weighs 106 lbs.

Takata recall passenger side airbag sensor is functioning abnormally. It will show the airbag off when there is no one and nothing in the seat at times and then will show the airbag to be functioning at others. It will also be erratic when I am sitting in the passenger side.

My vehicle has an issue where the passenger airbag is not active when an adult occupant is sitting in the passenger seat. Even though there is an open recall (NHTSA campaign number: 16v244000) for this particular problem onmy vehicle.

After the airbag module was reprogrammed so the light would come on when the passenger seat was empty my brother who weighs 240 pounds sat in the passenger seat after I started the car and we drove away the light did not go out until 20 minutes past. My concern is does the system think he is under 50 pounds?

I scheduled an appointment for 6/28/16 with nissan of union city, where I purchased my vehicle. My vehicle was serviced on the aforementioned date, and I was informed by nissan of union city that the recall malfunction was corrected.

When stationary and driving, the front passenger side airbag says off when my wife is sitting in the front passenger seat. She weighs 106 lbs. The light will go off eventually but comes on all the time she is sitting in the seat.

The passenger air bag sometime will turn off, while people still sitting in the front seat. The sensor of the passenger air bag is just not sensitive enough with light weight adult weight less 120lbs.

The airbag sensor for the passenger seat stays on even when an adult passenger is sitting in the front passenger seat. We notice it occurs when the car is started prior to the passenger getting in. If we turn the car off and start it again the light goes out.
