criticalENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Filed: Mar 2026

Your 2025 Kia Sportage produces an abnormal burning or chemical smell while driving that has caused you and your passengers to experience nasal irritation, eye irritation, headaches, and dizziness severe enough to require medical attention. The smell persists even with ventilation, no warning lights appear on the dashboard, and the issue hasn't been diagnosed or repaired despite contacting the manufacturer. Diagnosing this issue will likely require a dealer inspection to identify the source of the odor, which could involve checking cooling system components, cabin air quality systems, or engine bay components.
