Airbags Recalls (1)
AIR BAGS
Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Sedona, Soul, Soul EV, 2017-2018 Forte, and 2017 Forte Koup vehicles. The Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) cover may contact a memory chip on the printed circuit board and damage the electrical circuit. Circuit damage may result in deactivated air bags that will not deploy in a crash.
Fix: Dealers will inspect the ACU, and either update the software or replace the unit, as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 21, 2022. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC226.

Your air bag warning light came on when you started your vehicle. The dealer found that your front passenger air bag module is defective and needs to be replaced. This issue is related to a safety recall (Campaign 22V031000), but the dealer told you that you would have to pay for the repair yourself instead of it being covered under the recall.

Airbag warning light stays illuminated when the vehicle is on. KIA mailed me a 2017-2018 MY KIA SEDONA VEHICLES ILLUMINATION OF AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENSION letter. Dealer (Dyer KIA, Lake Wales, FL) refuses to honor the warranty. Made complaints online to the dealer and KIA and they refuse to fix my vehicle. The airbags do not work.
My airbag light went on, without it having been deployed at all. I took it to the dealership and they said there was a problem with the circuitry in which they couldn't guarantee that it would deploy in a possible accident. I also noticed that there is a recall out for some vehicles of my same make/model/year with an airbag recall out that mentions this same exact problem, except that my vehicle VIN number doesn't come up as it being a problem, so the dealership will not fix the problem unless I pay for it.
The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, there were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V031000 (Air Bags) was completed; however, the failure persisted. The dealer diagnosed that the front passenger's side air bag module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
I was driving my 2015 Kia Sedona and the airbags imploded out of nowhere, I was not hurt thank god. But my front of my car got damaged and so did the air bags and my steering wheel and all that got broken. I am writing to see if I can be reimbursed as I have fix these issues but I believe they hav to do with a recall Kia has. I spent a lot of money fixing it so I would like to get reimbured as I paid outa pocket for something that was a recall and a safety problem and could have been avoided. Please help me
I went to the dealership to get the Air bag recall update and now the light started coming on and off the past couple weeks. And is on every time I start the vehicle. I have little ones and need to get this fixed
I purchased this van pre-owned from Bridgewater Kia in NJ with an extended warranty in 2018. There was a recent safety recall for airbags and the airbag warning light was on. I brought the car into Bridgewater Kia on July 18, 2022 and was told that the passenger front airbag module needed to be replaced and that it was not part of the recall. I was also told that this defect SHUTS DOWN ALL OF THE AIRBAGS in the vehicle. There are NO airbags working in this vehicle. I was also told by Bridgewater Kia that (1) the passenger airbag module was back ordered and coming from another country so they do not know when it will arrive; (2) that I would have to pay $1,161.73 upfront before they would even order it; (3) they would NOT provide me with a loaner car; (4) that the airbag was not covered by the extended warranty I purchased from Bridgewater Kia because that warranty ended at 100,000 and we have 101,263 miles on the van and, (5) that I should not drive the car because it is unsafe. This is absurd. An airbag module is not something the owner of the vehicle can maintain. Moreover, the van is only approximately 5 years old and basically designed for people with children. On one hand the dealer is telling me not to drive it because it's unsafe, but I guess expects me, in this economy, to go rent a car indefinitely while we wait from an international shipment? It's not possible for me not to drive the van. This is a major safety problem that involves children that Kia should repair free of charge. They should also provide their customers with a safe means of transportation. They can't delegate airbags to the consumer and it's hard to believe that I am the only one experiencing this. I also want to let you know I have contacted Kia directly out in California and I'm waiting for a call back. I waited because it's only today that I was able to confirm with the dealer that the so-called warranty is useless.
