Owner Complaints (66)
Your Jeep's ABS module is producing an error code (C2200) that puts the vehicle into limp mode when you accelerate hard, reducing power and responsiveness. This caused a near-miss collision because the ABS system isn't working properly, which means your brakes may skid and you could lose control of the vehicle during hard braking. The ABS module will likely need to be diagnosed with a scanner and either reprogrammed or replaced.

Your ABS module has failed, causing the anti-lock braking system to apply brakes to wheels unnecessarily, which creates steering problems, overheated brake pads, and vibrations in all four wheels. The replacement ABS module is on back order with no parts available in the U.S., making your vehicle unable to pass safety inspections and unsafe to drive. Fixing this issue requires replacing the defective ABS module, but the part is currently unavailable through normal channels.

Your ABS (anti-lock brake) module may be failing, which could cause unexpected braking issues and loss of control while driving. The part is on permanent backorder and unavailable from Jeep, creating a safety hazard. Addressing this will likely require replacing the ABS module, though availability may be a challenge.

Your ABS (anti-lock braking) module is failing, which triggers a C2200 error code and lights up the ABS, Brake, and Traction Control warning lights on your dashboard. This prevents your anti-lock braking system from functioning properly, which is a safety concern for braking performance. Fixing this will likely require replacing the ABS module, which your dealership may need to order.

Your ABS (anti-lock brake system) warning light is illuminated on your dashboard. When you took it to a mechanic, they referred you to the dealership, where staff discovered that the required ABS module is not currently available from the manufacturer. This means getting the system repaired may require waiting for parts to be back in stock or finding an alternative solution.

Your ABS (anti-lock braking system) failed, which caused your engine to lose power and prevented acceleration. The dealer has indicated this part has been under engineering review for 2 years without resolution. Fixing this will likely require ABS module replacement or reprogramming once Jeep completes their engineering review.

Your ABS (anti-lock braking system) module has failed and needs replacement, but Jeep says the part has been unavailable for over two years. Without ABS, your brakes are harder to control in wet conditions like rain, which increases stopping distance and reduces traction control. The repair will require replacing the ABS module once parts availability is resolved.

Your brake warning lights (ABS, traction control, and parking brake) came on when starting the vehicle, and your brake pedal became hard to press. You also noticed the transmission was shifting roughly. A mechanic diagnosed the problem as a failed ABS module. The issue occurred at 80,000 miles and wasn't repaired by the dealer despite notification. Fixing this will likely involve replacing the ABS module and possibly servicing the transmission.

Your ABS (antilock braking) system and traction control have stopped working due to a failed ABS module. OEM replacement parts are currently unavailable, leaving only used or refurbished modules as options at significantly inflated prices. You'll need to replace the ABS module to restore antilock braking and traction control functionality.

It is all over the road going down hill when wet or icy. The 68259556AD abs module is not working , warningLights are on the vehicle and the part is no where to be found. Been on backorder for months.
2015 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, 3.6L, V6. Vehicle suddenly goes into “limp mode” while on highway due to bad ABS brake control module. Mopar replacement part number 68259556AD, but it is on back order nationally for over a year. Jeep dealer will not take to fix. Chrysler Dodge doing nothing about it, forcing owners to drive vehicles without ABS or traction control. This is not right with customers as we need car to work or it is a 2 ton paper weight. There appears to be no incentive to fix this back order issue. Please help!
My ABS control modual went out 14 months ago and no replacement part has been available at any jeep dealership. They state that this part is on extended back order. I have spent months trying to get this replacement. I believe it should be a recall. It not safe to have thousands of jeeps from year 2012 to 2020 on the road with non functioning ABS control moduals.
The ABS Module failed. The ABS now doesn't function. From what I have been told by multiple dealers Chrysler/Jeep is no longer manufacturing this replacement part. How can they get away with not providing replacement parts?
I have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler that has the brake, ABS and traction control lights on. It is a FAILURE OF THE ABS MODULE. When these lights are on, these systems are disabled. Jeep has told me that this part is on back order, due to a high failure rate. It is a safety issue when these systems are down. I have been told that some customers have waited a year or longer for the part, with some selling the vehicles. I think this problem needs a recall.
ABS Module has gone bad. Replacements are not being made, and it is unable to be rebuilt. This forces me to drive with the anti-lock brake system not working. This is my only means of transportation and I have to drive it to work to pay the grocery bill. I feel unsafe driving it, but I have no other choice. Something needs to be done, and replacement parts need to be made available. 1
i have a 2015 jeep wrangler unlimited sport and the ABS controle module has failed rendering the jeep without traction control and without abs system i have contacted service centers and told that it has been a backorder part for several years and that mopar has been less then responsive to the issue and all the service centers has waiting list of customers with the same issue that it is a well documented failure i reached out to mopar twice directly and got no answers and was told to talk to my service center something needs to be did to atleast make this part available
ABS module is bad and has been on backorder for well over a year now.
- 2015 Jeep Wrangler with only 46K miles - Dealership has confirmed that the ABS Module is out on the break system. - When module suddenly went out, Jeep went into "limp" mode in heavy Houston traffic. - Warning lamps: ABS System, Sway Bar, Check Engine, and Traction Control all lit up suddenly. - Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep has a National Backlog of the ABS module that apparently has not delivered new products for months or years. - Vehicle hard breaks, will not go faster than about 15mph, and cannot be used in current state as it is unsafe to drive. - Vehicle is stranded 1 hr from my home, cannot be driven and will not be able to be driven for the foreseeable future. - Unconscionable that Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep is not making this part thereby rendering my vehicle absolutely useless.
ABS light, stability control light and brake light on instrument cluster is illuminated. Took vehicle to dealership. They stated that the ABS module is faulty and needs to be replaced. The person at the dealership said that he could not say whether or not the vehicle is safe to drive. Did a little research and found that this part has failed on many vehicles, and there are over 500 of this item backordered across the country. The dealership has no idea when to expect replacement part.
Was on [XXX] traveling 40 mph. Traffic came to a sudden stop, when I hit brakes the ABS never kicked in and I slid into car in front of me. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
This is a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, it is need of a new ABS Modulator. This part has not been available for quite some time almost over a year. This is a critical safety feature that needs to be addressed. Jeep dealer told me and also a local mechanic not to drive in wet conditions. I have taken it to 3 different mechanics, dealer, and two outside the dealer, none can get the part. I have a ABS light on and traction control light on and a brake light on due to this part problem. Please help me in resolving this
The ABS module has an internal failure. The part is in back order.
Dear NHTSA Safety Team, I’m writing to formally report a serious and widespread safety issue affecting Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The problem centers on the failure of the ABS module, which triggers diagnostic code C2200. This defect disables critical safety systems including ABS and traction control, and causes the vehicle to shake violently—often mistaken for warped rotors. Jeep has discontinued production of the replacement ABS module, and the part has been on backorder for years. Today alone, my dealership received three separate calls from owners experiencing the same issue. This is clearly not an isolated incident. The consequences of this failure include: - Loss of ABS and traction control functionality - Unstable braking behavior - Increased risk of collision - No available replacement part from the manufacturer This poses a clear and present danger to drivers, passengers, and others on the road. I urge NHTSA to investigate this defect and compel Jeep to issue a recall or provide a viable solution. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
abs module is bad . was told that the part is no longer being made or there is a shortage of parts to get more out to the public. this is a safety issue this is a safety issue tat needs to be addressed. google it and see all the problems people are having
On July 27, 2025 the brake, ABS, and traction control lights lit up on my dash panel. The problem is a C2200 code which means the ABS module has gone bad. There has been a back-order of this part for several years now with no indication of when or if this module will ever be made available again.
Have no ABS. The light for the ABS stays on. Unable to get a part because it is under an "engineer review". The failed part is the hydraulic control unit. My safety and the safety of others are at risk due to no having anti lock brakes in south Florida where the roads on constantly wet. This is clearly a known problem.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the traction control, Lane Keep Assist, emergency brake, and driver assistant steering systems warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the cruise control was inoperable while the warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the Traction Control Failure warning light illuminated without the vehicle being driven. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the wheel speed sensor and brake module had failed. The wheel sensor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Garber Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (3408 US-17, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043); and was diagnosed with brake module failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.
The jeeps ABS module is having an error code C2200 that is present in many jeeps and the manufacturer is unable to repair or emit a recall for this issue. Jeep went into limp mode on the rode and cannot be driven.
ABS module is bad. I have been trying to get one for close to 2 years. Jeep tells me they are still on back order and not able to get one.
Garavel Chrysler Jeep Dodge 300 Westport Ave Norwalk, CT 06851 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 2015 06/12/2025-06/13/2025 & 06/192025 - Chris Riordan (Service advisor) & Rich Morel (Service Manager) 203-845-8040 My daughter was driving the Jeep and noticed the brake pedal was intermittently sinking to the floor, she brought it to the dealership where Chris Riordan (Service advisor) immediately diagnosed the common problem with the 2015 jeep Wrangler of caliper freeze up and hose replacement. knowing this issue they still let her drive the vehicle home with a known hazardous defect, The vehicle was dropped off for repair on 06/12/2025. later in the day we were notified that the mechanic upon re-installing one of the caliper bolts broke off the head of one of the bolts and they had to order one and it would be installed 06/13/2025, My daughter was there in the morning to pick up the vehicle only to find out it was not ready and that it needed to be test driven not once but twice ?? My daughter then drove on the highway home to pick up two children she was babysitting ,while pulling up to a friend's house she was told there was a grinding and scraping noise coming from the front left rim, we then told her not to drive the vehicle. At that a friend's mechanic removed the wheel and found the bolt missing that was supposedly ordered and installed with two test drives, so the caliper was flopping around off the rotor putting my child's life in danger. Our mechanic renewed the bolt and properly bled the brakes that Garavel’s mechanic failed to do also, What he also found was a front axle seal leak and a defective tie rod. Garavels service department failed at every possible level
I have been told that my ABS module needs to be replaced and that Jeep is no longer making these. I am on a waiting list with thousands of people. I am able to drive my Jeep, thankfully, but I am unable to use my cruise control. I don't know what damage this issue is causing to my Jeep; I've read others horror stories about their Jeeps just sitting in the driveway unusable and unsellable. This should not be the case. This should be a recall and Jeep or Chrysler should be MADE to rectify this situation.
ABS module failure. ABS system deactivated. Lights on dash. Replacement module not available.
ABS MODULE NOT WORKING. SAFETY CONCERN LOSES TRACTION, BRAKE SHIFT AND LOCKS AND SLIPS WHEN SLIPERY. NO PARTS AVAILABLE DUE TO SHORTAGE.
No cause or incident. ABS Module internal failure code C2200. Part is no longer manufactured and cannot drive vehicle without ABS. This should be illegal as the car is only 9-10 years old, and cannot find a new working ABS module. You should force Jeep/mANUFACTURE TO MAKE THESE AVAILABLE AS I HAVE NO CAR!!!!! AND CANT AFFORD A USED/RENTAL OR NEW CAR.
ABS Module Failure and Dodge can’t provide replacement parts. Failure causes loss of ABS, traction control, cruise control, & 4wd.
The ABS, Trac control & Brake lights are all illuminated on the dashboard. I took it to have a professional check it out. It turns out the ABS Modulator is faulty, causing my Jeep to not have ABS, or traction control. This is a safety hazard as the Jeep is not known for its great handling during any emergency braking situation. Here's the worst part. Jeep has known about this for over a year without any solutions to fix it. Why haven't they been held to the standards? Didn't the government bale them out before? This is a serius Safety feature and Jeep needs to do something about this, ASAP.
I have been attempting to get part 68259556ad which is brake module for my 2015 jeep wrangler. I have been trying to get the part since Nov 2023. This is making multiple light stay on my dash and the cruise control isn't working. Every month they says that it will be next month.
An ABS warning light and brake warning light illuminated on the dash. Vehicle traction control and ABS systems are inoperable as a result of the fault. I have attempted to purchase a replacement ABS module to correct the failure for over a year now. Several dealerships have cancelled my order after it has gone unfulfilled. The most recent order was placed on 7/30/24 The part has been on order through the dealership and the release date continues to be pushed back. Part Number is 68259556AD
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 30-35 MPH, the ABS and the traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that her husband was an independent mechanic and had used a scanner to diagnose the vehicle. The contact's husband determined that the ABS pump module needed to be replaced. The local dealer and several unknown dealers were contacted and informed the contact that the part repair the vehicle had not been available for approximately two years. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the part had been discontinued. The failure mileage was approximately 50,300.
The ABS module in Jeep vehicles have been going out for a while now. The parts have not been made to repair this issue since at least 2023. It has been in an engineering review and just gets pushed back month after month. My module went out last year and the parts can not be fount to repair this issue. With the module not working, the cruise control does not work, traction control does not work, and most importantly, the ABS system does not work. What can be done about this due to safety concerns?
There is no available parts abs control module in dealership and other source
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the ABS control module. The vehicle was not repaired due to a lack of available parts. The contact was informed that the parts might not be available until 2026. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was unknown.
ABS lights, break and traction control lights illuminated on dash. I took it to a repair shop, and they said the ABS module put out a code it was failing and needed to be replaced and not to drive it because it was unsafe. They said we can't get the part they aren't making them. After checking This is true. So, I have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler that is not safe to drive, and it only has 40,000 miles on it and there are no repair parts to repair it.
The ABS lights and other brake-related lights are on. Took it to the local dealer and they said the ABS module is bad and needs replaced and they do not have any in stock and do not know when they will have it back in stock. I'm having to drive with no ABS and no cruise control. I feel I am putting myself and others at risk.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. While the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. Additionally, the contact stated the vehicle failed to exceed 20 MPH. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with ABS module failure. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,400.
In August of 2024, the ABS light came on in my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (manual transmission). I took it to my mechanic who reported that the error code indicated that the ABS module was bad and needed replacing. We authorized the repair and waited for him to call with a timeline for it to be ready. He was unable to locate any parts from any of his normal suppliers and called the Jeep dealerships only to be told that the part was on an "engineering hold" and unavailable for purchase. He asked the dealership service department about a timeline for the part and was told end of September 2024. That date then became November 2024, January 2025, and most recently March 20, 2025 with no part ordered yet. Jeep has failed to provide a replacement part or repair option for this critical component that is failing in multiple year and models of Jeep Wranglers and the risk to injury is significant if it fails while the car is being driven. I either have to choose to not drive the car I have paid for and maintained or I have to play Russian roulette every time I get behind the wheel and wonder if this is the ride where the module will fail.
ABS control module gives error code, attempt to purchase replacement at dealer, dealer said they are on back order pending engineering review and will not be available until the end of march 2025 and will likely be pushed out again, this is a serious a safety issue, if you research it the web is full of issues where jeeps have caught on fire and or breaking went out. The manufacture is using "under engineering review" to skirt the need to issue a recall this need to be investigated, my jeep has sat for 4 months this is more that adequate time to review the issue. please feel free to contact me at [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS, brake, and traction control warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the cruise control function was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the dealer, who determined that the ABS module needed to be replaced; however, the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving over speed bumps at various speeds, several warning lights including the ABS and Brake warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact would restart the vehicle to resume normal driving. The dealer was notified of the failure, and the contact was notified that the failure was related to brake software reprogramming. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
**Incident Description:** While driving my Jeep Wrangler, the ABS warning light illuminated on the dashboard. Upon further inspection and research, it was determined that the ABS control module had failed, affecting the vehicle's braking system. This failure poses a significant safety risk, as it compromises the anti-lock braking function and overall stability during emergency stops or adverse road conditions. I have discovered that this issue is not isolated to my vehicle; it has been reported as a recurring problem among Jeep Wrangler owners on various forums and online communities. Many owners have shared similar experiences with the ABS control module failing and the warning light appearing. To date, the problem has not been resolved. The vehicle has been inspected by an independent service center, which confirmed the failure of the ABS control module. No prior symptoms or warning lamps were observed until the ABS warning light appeared. This appears to be a systemic issue affecting numerous Jeep Wranglers, warranting further investigation and potentially a recall to ensure driver safety.
ABS Module. The safety lights are on for the ABS Module. We verified the fuses were all good, and replaced them with new ones, just in case. I took the car to a mechanic who used a handheld computer to reset the warning. The warning lights came back on as soon as I started the engine. My mechanic attempted to order the module, but we are getting that it is on back order. We had been told it would be at the dealership in Oct 16th, but is still not available today Oct 31st. I understand that if for any reason I have to slam on the breaks, there is a chance that my brakes will fail. I entered our VIN but received the message that our Jeep is not listed as on recall. Other 2015 Jeeps are on the list, but ours has failed?? Doesn't seem right. I'm was not looking for free to begin with, but do need to correct this issue. Neither option is to available.
abs module applying rear brakes & abs indicator with traction control indicator also- program module or replacement module- parts not available/ bake order.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to exceed 30 MPH. In addition, the contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent dealer where a level 2 diagnostic test was completed, and the vehicle was diagnosed with ABS module failure. The contact was informed that the failure was due to water intrusion. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the ABS module was unavailable and on backorder. The contact researched NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V675000 (Electronic Stability Control, Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, neither the VIN nor the Year/Make/Model was included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,321.
The ABS Module malfunctions and causes breaks to not work properly. Called dealership and was told to call at later date because the part is being redesigned due to failure. No recall has been sent to owners. Have had to replace break sensors more than two times and not able to drive vehicle until new ABS part available for $1,800. Have had issues with breaks locking up while trying to drive in past and dealership had to repair the ABS modular. This is a safety issue needs to be researched. Prior vehicle with same issue were recalled. JUNE 17, 2022 — Chrysler ABS module repairs are necessary based on a recall of more than 270,000 model year 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs.
ABS Control module failed (code C2200). Loss of anti-lock brakes and traction control. Confirmed failure by dealer. Part (Mopar 68259556AD) is on "national back-order" with no other replacement options. Failure occurred middle January 2024, with dealer confirmation January 22nd, 2024. As of May 28th, 2024, the part is still on "back-order" (4 months in this case) rendering the Jeep unsafe to drive in the city.
MY ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED AND MADE IT WHERE I CANNOT SET MY CRUISE CONTROL AND THE PART THAT IS REQUIRED TO FIX HAS BEEN ON NATION WIDE BACKORDER SINCE SEPTEMBER 30 OF 2023 THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A SAFETY PART TO BE THAT HARD TO REPLACE AND IF THAT MANY ARE ON BACKORDER IT SHOULD BE RECALLED . THE CK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO ON AND OFF FOR A FEW MONTHES
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake light, ABS, and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact called an independent mobile mechanic to the residence who diagnosed the vehicle with a defective control module. The contact reached out to the manufacturer and was informed that the parts needed to repair the vehicle was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 93,700.
ABS Module failure C2200 code
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle on several occasions, the brake caution light had illuminated and suddenly the brakes were erroneously applied causing a slight reduction in speed. Also, when the failure occurred a burning odor of rubber was present coming from the rear of the vehicle. No smoke or flames were visible. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.
ABS brake light and traction light will randomly turn on and cause the car to automatically brake while driving in traffic. This almost caused me to be rear ended by the car behind me.
TAKE THE VEHICLE TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPAIR BRAKES WHICH HAD CALIPERS LOCKED UP AND PICKED UP THE VEHICLE BUT THE BRAKES WENT TO NEAR THE FLOOR TOOK BACK THE VEHICLE AND IT IS ROMAINE THERE NOW TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM TOTAL OF 1 WEEK SO FAR ALSO WHEN DRIVING HOME WITH IT VEHICLE HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET STOPPED
WHILE SLOWING TO A STOP FROM VERY LOW SPEED, ON A PAVED CITY STREET, THE BRAKES FAILED. PEDAL WAS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AND SEEMED AS IF THE JEEP ACCELERATED SLIGHTLY, AND THE ABS WAS POSSIBLY ACTIVATING AND RELEASING? CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TRAFFIC COLLISION WITH STOPPED CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I AM A RETIRED TRAFFIC ACCIDENT INVESTIGATOR, AND WAS NOT DISTRACTED, I COULD NOT RECREATE THE SAME MALFUNCTION AFTER THE COLLISION. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A PAVED ROAD AND NEEDED TO STEP ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID STRIKING A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. MY ABS BREAKS FAILED TO WORK AND I HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID STRIKING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS INCIDENT MY ABS LIGHT AND SLIP LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH BOARD AND REMAINED ON. I HAVE THE NEXT AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT ON THE 19TH OF FEBRUARY AT FIELDS JEEP IN GLENVIEW AND I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED. WITH THAT BEING SAID I NEED TO TAKE OFF OF WORK WITHOUT PAY UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED.
SATURDAY MORNING AT APPROXIMATELY 10:45 A.M. DRIVING 4.9 MILES TO DESTINATION I ASKED AS WE WERE APPROACHING PARKING "DO YOU SMELL SMOKE?" I HIT THE BREAKS BUT THERE WAS NO BREAKS. AND THEN A COMBUSTION OF FLAMES CAME FROM WHEEL WELLS AND HOOD OF JEEP. WE ALL JUMPED OUT AND CALLED 911 AND TRIED TO PUT FIRE OF JEEP OUT WITH EXTINGUISHERS. WITH NO SUCCESS. FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT FIRE OUT.
COMPLAINT ISSUED TO DEALER ON BRAKING ISSUES. TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE BRAKE BOOSTER WHICH WAS CAUSING PROBLEMS FOR $425. I DECLINED. PROBLEM CONTINUES EVERY DAY IN ALL CONDITIONS.
2015 JEEP WRANGLER, IN MOTION, TRAVELING STRAIGHT, ON HIGHWAY (ROADS WERE WET FROM RECENT RAIN) & APPROACHING TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT MAJOR INTERSECTION. SIGNAL CHANGED FROM GREEN TO YELLOW. I PUSHED THE THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN. THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND, THE JEEP DID NOT SLOW DOWN. THE JEEP CONTINUED TRAVELING STRAIGHT. I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL AT LEAST TWO MORE TIMES, DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND. THERE WAS A VERY LOUD "GRINDING" NOISE COMING FROM THE JEEP WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED INTO THE INTERSECTION WHERE IT CAME TO A STOP. THE BRAKES DID NOT SLOW THIS VEHICLE DOWN, THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK! THERE WAS NO CONTROL OF THIS VEHICLE'S SPEED. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. CHECKED OUT THIS JEEP THE NEXT DAY & FOUND NO PROBLEM WITH THIS JEEP & COULD NOT DUPLICATE CONCERN. WHEN I LATER DROVE THE JEEP HOME, THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON. FCA, CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE WAS NOTIFIED. CHRYSLER ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER & CASE MANAGER. THE CASE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT SHE CALLED THE SERVICE/DEALERSHIP (WHO SERVICED THE JEEP THE DAY AFTER THE EVENT) AND SHE WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MGR. "JEEP IS OPERATING PERFECTLY & IS UP TO MY SATISFACTION". I INFORMED CHRYSLER, VIA PHONE & EMAIL, THAT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE AT ALL! I SENT CHRYSLER A WRITTEN, DETAILED REPORT OF EXACTLY WHAT OCCURRED WITH THIS VEHICLE. I ALSO STATED THAT THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE ENDED VERY DIFFERENTLY, WITH INJURIES AND OR DEATH! I NEVER HEARD FROM CHRYSLER AGAIN. AS OF TODAY, CHRYSLER HAS NOT RETURNED ANY OF MY PHONE MESSAGES.
