TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED SHE SWITCHED THE VEHICLE INTO VARIOUS GEARS AND SLOWED THE VEHICLE DOWN HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
ISSUE OVERVIEW: 2010 JEEP WRANGLER HAS A DOCUMENTED SAFETY ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT AGREE THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE NOR FIX THE ISSUE, WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE FOUR PAGES OF SPECIFIC NOTES AND SERVICE DATES, ETC. AS WELL AS THE INTERNAL OFFICIAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT OUTLINES THAT JEEP KNEW THAT THE SAFETY CONCERN I WAS RAISING WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. I CAN EMAIL OR FAX THIS DOCUMENTATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, AS THIS TEXT BOX WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO INCLUDE ALL OF THE INFORMATION SPECIFICS AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION.
INITIALLY, AFTER MODERATE ACCELERATION FROM A STOP TO 35 MPH, ENGINE ELICITS A NEW LOUD RATTLING SOUND. THIS SOUND DIRECTLY CORRESPONDS TO ENGINE RPM DRAMATICALLY INCREASING WITH RPM OVER 2000. WHEN DECELERATING FROM A HIGHER RPM, THE SOUND INCREASES UNTIL MODERATE ACCELERATION IS AGAIN APPLIED. THE SOUND EMANATES FROM THE UPPER RIGHT ENGINE AREA AT ALL TIMES DURING ENGINE OPERATION. THIS SOUND FIRST OCCURRED WITHIN ONE WEEK OF A DEALER OIL CHANGE AND CONTINUES UNCHANGED AFTER 1400 MILES. THERE IS NO NOTICEABLE CHANGE IN VEHICLE PERFORMANCE. GAS MILEAGE EFFICIENCY HAS DECREASED BY ONE TO TWO MILES PER GALLON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT POWERED OFF THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO STOP THE FAILURE. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED EXCESSIVELY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THE AUTOMATIC THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR WARNING LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE CONTACT WAS NOT TOLD WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 39,000. UPDATED 03/115/13*LJ THE DEALER REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR AND CLEARED THE CODE. UPDATED 04/10/13
E S P A DEADLY IDEA THAT IS BEING FORCED UPON US. MAY OF 2010 I PURCHASED A JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED. FIRST WEEKEND OF SEPTEMBER I HAD E S P FAILURE. TOOK IT TO JEEP THE FOLLOWING WED. THEY ATTEMPTED TO RETURN IT TO ME UNABLE TO DUPLICATE, NO PARTS REPLACED. THE PROBLEM DID NOT "GO AWAY ". E S P FAILURES HAVE BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 2007. A SAFETY DEVICE TO SAVE YOU IN A CRASH SHOULD NOT CAUSE THE CRASH. ONLY ABOUT 12,300 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. FACTORY STOCK. NO MODS. JEEP BUYING BACK THE VEHICLE WILL NOT PROTECT ME OR MY LOVED ONES. THE OTHERS WILL STILL BE OUT THERE ON THE ROAD. FORCED LEGISLATION OF THIS WILL ACTUALLY CREATE OTHER PROBLEMS IN ADDITION TO THE FAILURES. VARIOUS "HACK JOBS" WILL BE PERFORMED IN ORDER TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM BUT WILL ACTUALLY CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS. I ALREADY HAVE TO DODGE WEAVING DRIVERS FOR OTHER REASONS. DRUNKS ARE AT LEAST ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE. HAS NO ONE ANY COMMON SENSE ANYMORE? IF I WANTED TO BE DRIVEN I WOULD HIRE A CHAUFFEUR. REMEMBER THE AUTO SEAT BELTS THAT THREW PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR CARS AND CAUSED THEM TO BE KILLED OR PARALYZED. ( I PERSONALLY KNOW SOMEONE THAT THIS HAPPENED TO). HOW ABOUT THE AIR BAGS DECAPITATING CHILDREN? THAT REALLY SAVED LIVES THERE. LET US NOT FORGET THE RECENT PRIUS FAILURES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO 90 MPH. THE CONTACT APPLIED EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AS THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECREASE IN SPEED. THERE WAS AN UNUSUALLY HIGH INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AND THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO IDLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 10,000.
