LOST BREAKS ON VEHICLE. TOOK VEHICLE TO GET FIXED...WAS INFORMED THE BREAK LINE WAS MOUNTED AGAINST BODY AND DUE TO THIS AND NORMAL BOUNCING OF THE VEHICLE THE METAL CUT THROUGH THE BREAK LINE.

WOULD GO FROM 30 MPH AND UP APPLY THE BRAKES AND GET A VIOLENT SHAKING. TOOK IT TO GOODYEAR (HAD ONLY 24000 BTW) WHEN WE GOT NEW TIRES PUT ON IT AND THE GUY SAID THE ROTORS WERE 3/16 PAST TURNING. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE US $875 FOR NAPA ROTORS. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM AND NOTHING HAD BEEN REPORTED. SO SEEING WE WERE DEFEATED WE ASKED FOR PRICES ON ROTORS (SINCE WE WERE THERE) $310 FOR DRIVER SIDE AND $325 FOR PASSENGER. I WAS LIKE UHM OK....WENT TO FOUR WHEEL PARTS GOT A DRILLED SET MADE IN USA WITH PADS FOR $275 OUT THE DOOR.I MEAN I FIGURED WHY PAY OVER 600 AND HAVE THEM ONLY LAST ANOTHER 24000 MILES? GOT 54000 ON IT NOW WITH THE US BRAKES AND HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM. BTW IT STOPS ALOT BETTER THAN THE STOCK ONES DID. OH AN I SAID 1 INJURY BECAUSE I DID INJURE MY WRIST TRYING TO HOLD IT ON THE ROAD EVERYTIME I DROVE IT. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. ON JUNE 8, 2010 WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND THE BRAKES BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A DITCH. HE MANAGED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE DITCH SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE 2006 CHRYSLER BRAKE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED ON THE DAY THAT THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE DEALER TOLD HIM THAT THEY WOULD INSPECT THE BRAKES, ROTORS, CALIPERS, AND REPLACE ANY PARTS AND IF THERE WAS AN EXISTING RECALL THAT CHRYSLER WOULD REIMBURSE HIM FOR THE PARTS; HOWEVER, THEY HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF A BRAKE RECALL. THE CHRYSLER MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS REJECTED FROM THE SYSTEM. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 55,700.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON NORMAL CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS IT APPROACHED A CURVE. A WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND REMAINED LIT UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED, WHICH RESULTED IN A CRASH. THERE WERE NO INJURIES; HOWEVER, THREE VEHICLES WERE DAMAGED. THE POLICE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND IS CURRENTLY INOPERABLE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,596 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,273.

BOUGHT A 2006 WRANGLER W/ 3500 MILES. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, REALIZED THAT VEHICLE HAD A PROBLEM - WHEN BRAKING AT SPEEDS OF 55 TO 60 MPH (GENTLY, MIND YOU, NO HARD BRAKING), VEHICLE AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHUDDER AND WOBBLE VIOLENTLY, AND THIS WOULD INCREASE IN SEVERITY UNTIL VEHICLE SLOWED TO 40 MPH, THEN SHUDDERING/WOBBLING WOULD STOP. TOOK TO PURCHASE DEALER FIRST (FORD) TO HAVE WHEEL BALANCED. THIS DID NOT FIX IT, SO, TOOK TO WARRANTY (JEEP) SHOP, WHO FIRST TRIED TO BLAME DEALER (FORD) SHOP, SAID LUG NUTS WERE SCREWED ON TOO TIGHT, THUS CAUSING ROTORS TO WARP. HAD FORD DEALER TURN ROTORS, BUT PROBLEM RETURNED SHORTLY. TOOK TO WARRANTY (JEEP) SHOP, INSISTED THEY FIX. THEY REPLACED ROTORS, BUT PROBLEM RETURNED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. RETURNED VEHICLE TO THEM, THEY "MACHINED" NEW ROTORS. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE PROBLEM RETURNED. TOOK TO JEEP AGAIN, THIS TIME, THEY SAID IT WAS THE BALL JOINTS, REPLACED UPPER AND LOWER RIGHT BALL JOINTS. PROBLEM REMAINED, BUT WAS SPORADIC RATHER THAN CONSTANT.. TOOK IT BACK TO JEEP, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM, "COME BACK WHEN PROBLEM MORE PRONOUNCED". WITHIN A FEW WEEKS, PROBLEM WAS CONSTANT AND VERY PRONOUNCED; SCARY, EVEN. TOOK BACK TO JEEP AGAIN THIS WEEK, THEY SAY IT IS THE ROTORS AGAIN, AND THEY WILL REPLACE THEM ONE MORE TIME UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NEVER AGAIN. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SHOP(S) FOR WORK ON THIS PROBLEM NO LESS THAN 5 OR 6 TIMES. DEALER IMPLIES THAT THIS IS ALL MY FAULT, EVEN THOUGH I DRIVE SUBSTANTIALLY FEWER MILES THAN MOST PEOPLE, AND MY DRIVING HABITS ARE QUITE DULL, TO SAY THE LEAST: NO TOWING, NO DRIVING ON THE BEACH, OVER ROCKS, ETC., NO HARD BRAKING, NO EXCESSIVE SPEED, ETC., ETC. (THEY TELL ME THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THE INTERNET IS FULL OF THESE KINDS OF COMPLAINTS.) IN THE LAST 16 YEARS, I HAVE DRIVEN 4 JEEPS, 3 FORDS, 1 MAZDA, AND 2 VW'S, AND THIS 2006 WRANGLER IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS EVER HAD A ROTOR PROBLEM OF ANY KIND, MUCH LESS A CONSTANTLY RECURRING ONE. *TR

I PURCHASED MY JEEP IN APRIL OF 2006. THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING EVERY TIME I WOULD PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE OR TRAVEL BETWEEN 55 & 60 MPH. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WITH 19,000 MILES ON IT, 03/14/07, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED - THEY SMOOTHED THEM DOWN, CHARGED ME $229.00 AND TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE WAY THAT I DROVE. THAT REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY! *TR

FRONT BRAKES ON MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER WITH 8785 MILES ON IT VIBRATE VIOLENTLY WHEN MAKING A SUDDEN STOP AT SPEEDS AROUND 50-60 MILES. DURING A SUDDEN STOP THE STEERING WHEEL WAS ALMOST RIPPED FROM MY HANDS. TOOK THE WRANGLER TO THE DEALER. DEALER STATED THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT WARRANT WEAR ITEMS. DEALER MACHINED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS. TEST DROVE AND BRAKES WORKED OK. MY CONCERN IS FOR MY SAFETY. WITH MACHINED ROTORS NOW THE ROTORS ARE THINNER (WEAKER) THEN BEFORE. *TR

THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED, MORE VIOLENTLY THE FASTER THE VEHICLE WAS GOING. I HAD THIS CHECKED AT A BRAKE SHOP FIRST, WHERE THEY SAID THE PADS WERE FINE, BUT THE ROTOR WAS WARPED. I THEN TOOK IT TO THE TIRE SHOP TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED, ALTHOUGH THIS WAS ALSO JUST DONE A FEW MONTHS PRIOR. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 23000 MILES ON IT. NOT ONLY DID MY DEALER NOT WARRANTY THE PROBLEM, THEY WANTED TO PUT A "MAKE IT NEW KIT" ON FOR $355, PERFORM DIFFERENTIAL SERVICE $121, DRAIN AND REFILL REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID $121, AND ROTATE AND BALANCE TIRES (BECAUSE THEY LISTENED TO NOTHING I TOLD THEM) FOR $49.95 FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $671.90. WHEN I TOLD HIM I WOULD TAKE IT ELSEWHERE, I WAS CHARGED FOR THE ESTIMATE $24.95. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY MY SERVICE ADVISOR THAT HE OR HIS MANAGER SAW NO REPORTS ON THIS WEB SITE. HMMMM....MINE IS THE 6TH SUCH CASE ON HERE. I JUST WONDER HOW MANY THERE ARE THAT HAVE NOT BEEN REPORTED? THIS IS MY FOURTH WRANGLER AND I'VE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO RUDELY IN MY LIFE. IT'S A SHAME THE CHRYSLER JEEP WRANGLER CANNOT STAND UP TO THE TRUE AMERICAN JEEP, BECAUSE THEY'VE GONE TO USING CHEAP FAULTY PARTS!!! UPDATED 04/23/08. *LJ

2006 JEEP WRANGLER REPLACED BRAKES. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE BRAKE BACKING PLATES WERE REPLACED DUE TO DAMAGE. HE STATES THAT THE VEHICLE BECAME STUCK IN A SNOWDRIFT AND AFTER BEING SHOVELED OUT THE BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. *KB THE DEALER STATED THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS BLOWN AND THE BRAKE PADS WERE RUINED DUE TO DRIVING WITH THE BRAKES BEING FROZEN. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE DAMAGES WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS. *JB

MY ROTORS IN MY '06 WRANGLER WENT BAD AT 9500 MILES, SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHEN STOPPING. THEY WERE REPLACED, BUT NOW AT 20K THE SAME THING IS OCCURRING! I WAS TOLD CHRYSLER WILL TURN THEM FOR FREE BUT WILL NOT REPLACE THEM AGAIN. THEY NEVER REPLACED THE ORIGINAL PADS EITHER. I AM VERY UPSET TO SEE SUCH A TREND OF COMPLAINTS WITH THE ROTORS AND THE COMPANY STILL CONTINUES TO USE CHEAP, DEFECTIVE PARTS. THE MECHANIC THE FIRST TIME TOLD ME THIS IS COMMON AND CHRYSLER DOES NOT CARE ONCE YOU BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THINGS REPLACED SO FAR, AND THESE WERE UNDER 10KMILES; STEERING STABILIZER/ROTORS/SLAVE CYLINDER IN CLUTCH($700 JOB)/NOT DELIVERED WITH TINTED REAR WINDOWS/HESITATION AND STALLING AT A RED LIGHTS/STRAP BROKE OFF RIVET IN SOFT TOP. CLUTCH STILL MAKING THE NOISE THAT WAS DIAGNOSED AS SLAVE CYLINDER (ITS THE THROTTLE BEARING DA!!!) *TR

IT HAS LESS THAN 12000 MILES ON IT AND THIS IS THE 2ND PAIR OF ROTORS WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, AROUND 3 MONTHS. NOW I'M TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT ITS MY DRIVING STYLE, THAT I SHOULD DOWN SHIFT TO MAKE IT EASIER ON THE BRAKES. WHICH I ALREADY DO DOWN SHIFT. THE REPAIR WAS TAKEN CARE OF FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE OF THE SHORT PERIOD OF TIME BETWEEN THE ROTOR CHANGES. BUT, THAT THE NEXT TIME I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!! LET ME TELL YOU THAT I'M PISSED!!! THIS IS BULL &*$# AND I'M NOT GOING TO BE PUSHED OVER AND TOLD ITS THE WAY I DRIVE, WHEN ITS APPARENT THAT THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE CAUSING THE PROBLEM.
