Your overhead display has stopped working. Online discussions suggest this is caused by a faulty wiring harness that needs to be replaced, which can be expensive. GASOLINE ODOR/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE MACHANICALLY CHECKED THE SMELL OF FUEL ON STARTUP WITH WINDOW LOWERED IS OVERPOWERING..THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD THE VEHICLE PLUGGED INTO SERVICE COMPUTER..WAS TOLD TOO CHECK GAS CAP/REPLACE..WHICH I DID..THE GASOLINE ODOR IS STILL PRESENT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON..SO NEW GAS CAP ISNT THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE NO LEAKS ANYWHERE ON THE ENGINE OR AT THE GAS TANK, YET THE SMELL OF FUEL IS STILL PRESENT. NO GAS LINE LEAKS...WE NEED TO MAKE THESE TRUCKS IN AMERICA AGAIN WITH AMERICAN PARTS. HAVE ALWAYS OWNED JEEPS HAVE A 93 SPORT IN MY DRIVEWAY RIGHT NOW, BUT THIS '01 MAY BE MY LAST...LITERALLY.

I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT MY INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE PROBLEM IS THE VEHCILE IS HAVING ODD INTERMINENT ISSUES WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE GAS LIGHT, THE TACHOMETER, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL STOP WORKING. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL COME ON. THE WINDOWS WILL STOP WORKING, ETC. ONE DAY, IT JUST STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, ON MY WAY FROM WORK. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED TWICE. I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A YEAR AND COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAPPENED. I CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO EXPLAINED THAT IT MAY HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE KEY. THE NEXT DAY, MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. I HAD IT TOWED AND TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED TO HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE TIPM. I HAD TO PAY MONEY I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO SPEND TO GET IT FIXED. RECENT ITEM ABOUT A GM RECALL LISTED THIS SAME PROBLEM, STATING IF THE CIRCUIT BOARD INSIDE DRIVER'S DOOR GOT WET, IT COULD CORRODE THE CIRCUIT BOARD, POSSIBLY CAUSING SMOKE OR FIRE. NOW IM BRINGING MY CAR BACK INTO THE SHOP BECAUSE THE WINDOWS WONT ROLL DOWN (AGAIN), THE EVAP SOLENOID IS LEAKING AND MISFIRES. THE CARFAX IS CLEAN WITH NO ACCIDENTS AND I BABY THIS CAR. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REPAIR BOTH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SEAT WARMER SYSTEM THAT WAS NO LONGER WORKING, I DISCOVERED THAT THE FACTORY INSTALLED HEATED SEATS HAD APPARENTLY SHORTED OUT AND CAUSED THE FOAM CUSHION IN EACH OF THE SEATS TO CATCH FIRE. THE WIRING HAD BURNED A HOLE APPROXIMATELY 4 INCHES LONG AND 1-2 INCHES DEEP. FORTUNATELY, THE FIRE DID NOT SPREAD FAR WITHIN THE SEAT. I OWN A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. ON FRIDAY 2/11/09 I HAD TO CALL AAA AUTO SERVICE. THE IGNITION ON THE CAR LOCKED UP. THE AUTO MECHANIC. THAT THEY SENT OUT GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK WITH A RUBBER HAMMER AND WALKED OVER TO MY CAR AND HIT THE IGNITION A COUPLE OF TIMES AND IT CAME UNLOCK. HE SAID THAT THEY GET A COUPLE OF CALLS A WEEK ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION IN CARS 3 OR 4 TIMES A MONTH. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND TRIED TO TELL THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY WERE NO HELP. TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAD A FAILURE IN THE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL MODULE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD THE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL MODULE REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH THIS VEHICLE COMPARTMENT FILLED WITH SMOKE. HE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEREWAS A LARGE NUMBER OF VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THEY COULD NOT GET THE PART IN FAST ENOUGH TO MAKE ALL OF THE REPAIRS. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY HAD 15 BACK ORDERS FOR THE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL MODULES. I ATTEMPTED TO SIGNAL THAT THE LANE WAS OCCUPIED BY BLOWING THE CAR HORN AND AFTER PRESSING ON THE HORN LOGO IN THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL NOTHING HAPPENED. I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES AND STILL NOTHING. LUCKILY THE DRIVER OF THE SEMI FINALLY LOOKED AND STOPPED BEFORE PUSHING MY CAR INTO THE CENTER CONCRETE DIVIDER.
