Your engine is stalling randomly while driving on the highway and at idle, then restarting after a short time. Additionally, your car sometimes won't start at all—all dashboard lights come on, but the battery and starter test fine—and it may take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of days before it starts again. Your brake pedal also feels unusually stiff. The dealership has been unable to diagnose the issue so far. The problem likely involves the electrical system, fuel delivery, or engine control, and may require diagnostic testing with a scanner or inspection of fuel system components.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM, AND TRACTION WARNING INDICATORS WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR LOCAL DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
THE CAR WILL NOT START. GET IN THE CAR, TURN THE KEY, NO SOUND FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. NO CLICKING, NOTHING. THE RADIO WORKS, THE FAN WORKS, THE LIGHTS WORK. HAVE CHECKED THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, STARTER, NONE OF THAT IS THE PROBLEM. SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH JEEPS BASED ON INTERNET SEARCH. HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. DOES NOT PUT OUT A CODE FOR A CODE READER TO SCAN AND REPORT.
THEY (DEALERS) KEEP SAYING MY WIRING HARNESS NEEDS REPLACE. THEY REPLACE IT ONCE ON 7/11/16 CAUSE MY RADIATOR FAN WOULD NOT COME ON AND THEY REPLACE THE TIMP. NOW THE FAN WON'T TURN OFF EVEN WHEN THE KEY IS OUT. MILES ON THIS IS 130,859 I BELIEVE THERE A ISSUE WITH THIS WIRING HARNESS P/N 68043111AB AND THE TIMP P/N RL028007AD CHECK AND SEE HOW MANY REPLACEMENTS THEY PUT IN THESE MODELS. I WENT TO A JUNK YARD AND ALL THE COMPASS'S TIMP OR FUSE BOX HAD BEEN REMOVED.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL HAS SEVERE PROBLEM, ALMOST STALLING OUT AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IAM SCARED OF A 'STALL-OUT" WHILE IN TRAFFIC THAT COULD RESULT IN SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH. FIRST SEVERE OCCURRANCE WAS ON MAY 15TH,2015. AND HAS BEEN OCCURRING FREQUENTLY EVERSINCE.
THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH COMES ON CONTINUALLY ON THIS VEHICLE; EVEN WHEN ALL FOUR TIRES ARE PROPERLY INFLATED. AS AN EXAMPLE, I JUST HAD NEW TIRES INSTALLED, ALL WERE SET TO THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE, AND WITHIN HOURS OF LEAVING THE TIRE SHOP, THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT BEGAN COMING ON. IT COMES ON CONTINUALLY. THERE WILL BE PERIODS WHEN IT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE AND OTHER PERIODS WHEN IT ILLUMINATES EVERY FEW MINUTES. THIS IS NOT ONLY AGGRAVATING BUT IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN A RED WARNING LIGHT CONTINUALLY ILLUMINATES ON THE DASH, YOUR ATTENTION IS CONSTANTLY DRAWN AWAY FROM THE ROAD TO THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY. THIS IS A NON-FUNCTIONING WARNING LIGHT AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. *TR
