Your 2023 Sonata has a safety-related recall code (286) that Hyundai has been unable to fix for nearly three months. Hyundai's corporate team collected your financing and vehicle information but has failed to provide promised updates or a solution, leaving you without a working car or loaner vehicle. You're concerned about a potential fire risk while driving. The repair will likely require Hyundai's service department to diagnose and replace whatever component is triggering the recall code 286.

Your car lost all its coolant overnight and overheated twice on the highway, but you couldn't find any visible leaks. The dealership discovered coolant was leaking into your exhaust system and burning off instead of dripping out. Hyundai had a known bulletin about this issue and had to redesign the part to fix it, which required special ordering and a week without your car. The repair cost $1,300 and wasn't covered by warranty.

Your 2023 Sonata Hybrid may develop an internal coolant leak in the cooling system that causes white steam to come from the exhaust, especially during acceleration. When this happens, coolant drains quickly, your interior heater stops working, and your engine overheating warning appears, forcing you to stop driving immediately. This defect may require inspection and repair of the coolant system, possibly including the Exhaust Heat Recovery System (EHRS) component.

Your fuel injectors have failed twice, causing your engine to sputter and your accelerator to stop working while driving on local roads. Both times the engine died, forcing you to push the car to safety with traffic around you. The dealer has replaced 3 of your 4 fuel injectors, but one remains unreplaced, leaving you concerned about another failure occurring while driving.

I was driving my 2023 Hyundai Sonata with 22,000 miles on I-96 near Grand Rapids Michigan at or slightly below the speed limit of 70 MPH. Suddenly, with no advance warning of any kind, the engine shut down. I was able to coast and maneuver to the right shoulder of the road while avoiding traffic, including a large tractor trailer that almost hit us. The vehicle than had just enough power to get off the next exit and on a local side street. At that point the vehicle would not restart and you could smell a strong odor of fuel. I called Hyundai and they sent a tow truck to take it to the nearest dealer. (I am 700 miles from home). The dealer's service department diagnosed the problem then replaced the fuel injectors still under warranty.
Coming home from work I stopped at a red light and when I tried to accelerate the vehicle was surging and jerking shaking and wouldn't pick up speed 2 min later the check engine light appeared flashing thankfully I was 5 min from home got the car towed the next morning to hyundai dealership said it was an cylinder misfire the car only has 30,000 miles on it
