Engine light is blinking and put safety of my family in danger. I called the close Huyndai dealer also I have a case number. However, it takes forever for them to answer. I only have this car. I am driver and this how I make living. I have no choice in driving this recall vehicle and kill my self and my family. No body care!
The turn signal stem assembly randomly begins failing after several years (approx 5 years). Issues will be noticed while driving in the dark. When turn signal is applied in both directions, occasionally headlights will turn off or flash causing interior lighting to change to brighter daylight settings at the same time. This can be disorienting for the driver as well as others on the road. To remedy the incorrect lighting situation, the driver needs to jiggle the turn signal stem assembly and normal lighting will resume. At subsequent turns, the entire situation repeats itself. Other drivers may believe they are being alerted to something or potentially angered, causing misunderstandings or altercations on the road. My original turn signal stem assembly was replaced after about 5 years due to this series of events. Now, after approximately 5 more years, the exact same symptoms have begun again with the authentic Hyundai OEM replacement parts.
Right brake light assembly melting around lightbulb and right brake light not working due to the burn. I went to multiple used auto parts store to try and buy the right brake assembly and noted multiple cars from 2011-2014 had the same issue.
When head lights are in Auto mode occasionally all of the exterior and interior lights go out. Including dash lights. I cannot make it repeat at will so nothing ever gets done with it. There is no warning when it happens just complete darkness inside and out. Obviously I can’t see where I’m going when it happens they typically come back on after a few seconds. This has been happening for over 1 year. I don’t use the lights in auto anymore, it doesn’t happen when it’s not in auto.

The contact stated that she replaced the bulbs seven times; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the taillight wiring harness assembly had melted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
A family member alerted me that my passenger side brake light was out. I went and purchased a replacement bulb to change the light. As soon as I went to pull the old bulb out I noticed the housing the bulb sits in was warped, cracked, and discolored like it had been burned. The old bulb can't even be pulled out without having to break the bulb because the plastic is so warped. Being unable to change the brake light is a hazard because I can't alert other drivers when I am stopping. Also if the bulb got hot enough to burn the housing on the tail light it could have potentially started a fire. There weren't any warning lights that a brake light was out.
The lighting system on the front and back lights, tail lights and brake lights has shortages and melts the housings that the bulbs go in. I have had two of these cars with the same identical problem.It’s very dangerous because the tail lights work whenever and me as the driver can’t see behind me nor the person driving behind me will know that I’m stopping. I can’t drive my vehicles at all at this present time and have made an appointment the dealership, Hyundai and filed a complaint as well. Something has to be done quickly to put this on the recall list because it’s very dangerous for myself and others on the national highways. I see a lot of the same identical cars as mines with the same exact issues. It’s ridiculous!!!!
Headlights need to be replaced every three months. Brake lights turnt out and melted the plastic around it. Had to replace the entire light unit. Now, the breaklight doesnt work at all. Even after replacing the entire light unit and bulbs.
Back light panel had to be replaced because light keep blowing. Engine is burning oil and have to put oil in often
The headlights and signal lights go out at least twice a year without warning which happens at night and or when raining. The dealership says they know that's why they keep plenty in stock. I've been dealing with this for 6 years afraid to drive at night or in rain because I never know when they will blow. I'm sure this can be verified by the amount of bulbs being replaced and sold. Help. This has to be a defect. Thank you.
Vehicle headlights turn off / on while driving
Brake / parking lights on both sides have burned out more than 2 dozen times. This started when the car was less than 2 years old at about 20,000 miles and continues. Reported to dealer several times. Most recently on 4/22/2022. We were told they have no solution to correcting the problem.
Exterior lighting out (fuses)-- head, brake, tail, signal

The contact stated that while attempting to replace the rear taillight blubs, she had noticed that the bulbs had melted into the connectors which results in loss of rear taillight use. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing a taillight wiring harness replaced but was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
Headlights and taillights constantly burning out. Taillights have melted sockets on both driver and passenger side and it seems the fuses are burning for anything powering the exterior lights. This is a safety hazard from not being seen on the road by other vehicles to a potential fire hazard.
The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the electrical system had failed to operate as needed both inside and outside of the vehicle. The contact stated that the taillights had failed to illuminate upon depression of the brake pedal, while the interior lights would flicker. Additionally, the headlights would also flicker while in operation without warning. Additionally, the contact stated that an abnormal clanking sound was coming from the vehicle without warning while making left turns. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer where they informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.
Driving in the early AM darkness went to turn on my bights and my headlights and every other light went out leaving me moving at 60+ miles an hour in complete darkness on a highway. Headlights also flickering intermittently and at times when I try use my turn signal. Baffled at how this has not been recalled. This is a deadly manufacturer defect.
Tail lights continually kept burning out. Eventually, after a few installs, tht last one melted requiring they full assembly to be replaced. The first side went out on the right a couple of years prior, this year the left side did the same thing. The smell of burning was noticed, and found the cause from the tail light.
Break light harness was burning around the socket. Caught on time could of caused a fire and serious injury to me and my children. This should be recalled as it is known to be an issue with most of this model vehicle.
My brake light went out and it must of caused a shirt cause it then melt a portion of the plastic from the light assembly.

Break lights continue to burn out. In the 5 yrs I've had the vehicle this is a constant issue. I've taken the vehicle to Balise Hyundai replacing the Bulbs multiple times and replaced one Harness. Today both break lights had to have a full assembly replacement, including harness and the bulbs melted the plastic. The passenger break light even exploded that's how overheated it became. There have been no indication when these lights burn out. I've always had a stranger, neighbor, family or friend alert me that one of my lights were out. 4/26/21 a stranger driving behind pulled up next to me to alert me my tail lights were out. Not knowing break lights out is a safety hazard whether driving on street or highway. The back window has an additional light that has continued to work. In the last 3 years my driving was reduced more than 60% as I relocated to work from home. The vehicle was serviced today 6/2/21 at Hiley Hyundai who performed the most recent inspection and diagnostic on the vehicle, as well as performed the repairs.
MY ENGINE WAS REPLACED LAST YEAR BECAUSE OF A RECALL. SINCE THEN PROGRESSIVELY I'VE BEEN NOTICING MY HEAD LIGHTS WILL TURN THEMSELVES ON AND OFF AT WILL. AT TIMES ALSO THE INTERIOR DASH LIGHTS WILL DO THE SAME. WHERE I WILL HAVE TO JIGGLE THE NOB TO TURN THEM BACK ON AGAIN. IF I HAPPENED TO RUN OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE FLICKERS WORSEN. WITH EVERYTHING SHUTTING DOWN EARLY LAST YEAR I WASN'T DRIVING OFTEN WHEN THE SUN WAS DOWN BUT NOW THAT I AM THIS ISSUE ISN'T RESOLVING ITSELF.
WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED THE HEADLIGHTS WILL TURN OFF WHEN THE LEFT BLINKER IS USED. HEADLIGHTS WILL ALSO FLICKER AND THEN THE HIGH BEAMS WILL TURN ON RANDOMLY. OTHER TIMES THE LIGHTS WILL COMPLETELY TURN OFF INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CAR. SINCE THIS STARTED MY BATTERY HAS DRAINED ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS REQUIRING ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE.
WHEN MY BRAKE LIGHT BULB WENT OUT WE TRIED TO CHANGE IT. IT WAS MELTED INTO SOCKET. TOOK TO DEALER THEY SAID 250.00 FOR EACH SIDE. BOTH SIDES HAD MELTED IN. YOU DONT JUST REPLACE THE SOCKET U REPLACE WIRES AND ALL. 250.00 EACH SIDE EVERYTIME THEY GO OUT. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THIS HAPPENS IN ALL HYUNDAI MODELS AND YEARS. WHY ARE THEY NOT RECALLED?
WHEN USING THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL THE HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF
LIGHTS GO ON & OFF WHEN USING TURN SIGNALS OR DIMMING LIGHTS. AFTER ABOUT 30 DAYS LIGHTS QUIT WORKING ALL TOGETHER. IF I PULL TURN SIGNAL TOWARD DRIVER AND HOLD IT LIGHTS COME ON ANBUT ONCE IT IS LET GO ALL LIGHTS ARE OUT AGAIN.
THE HEADLAMP SWITCH APPEARS TO HAVE A MALFUNCTION. TOUCHING IT TO TURN ON THE BLINKER OR THE BRIGHT LIGHTS CAN CAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS TO FLICKER.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL LIGHT BULBS WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LIBERTY HYUNDAI DEALER, LOCATED AT: 305 NJ-17, MAHWAH, NJ 07430 AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE LAMP BULBS WITH ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED BRAKE LAMP BULBS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE BULB WAS NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000.
THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS ORIGINAL SOCKETS AND WIRING, BURN SO HOT THAT IT MELTS THE SOCKETS. THIS CAUSE A SAFETY HAZARD, AS THE LIGHTBULBS ARE REPEATEDLY BEING BURNED OUT AND MELTED INTO THE SOCKETS. IN MOTIIN
THE TAIL LIGHTS ARE FAILING ON MY HYUNDAI. HYUNDAI IS VERY WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND THERE IS SEVERAL ONLINE ACCOUNTS OF IT FROM OTHER OWNERS. THE TAIL LIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF RAPIDLY LIKE A HAZARD LIGHT. THIS OCCURS DURING THE DAYTIME WITH THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS AND MOST ESPECIALLY DURING THE NIGHT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. HYUNDAI HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE ISSUE AND REFUSED TO REPLACE THEM DESPITE THE SAFETY HAZARD, CITING THE AGE AND MILEAGE OF MY CAR. HOWEVER, AT THE SAME TIME THE INSTALLED A NEW ENGINE IN THE SAME CAR WITH THE SAME AGE AND MILEAGE.
I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING TO HAVE MY BRAKE LIGHTS AND HEAD LIGHTS REPLACED. THEY ARE BLOWING EVERY 2-3 MONTHS. I HAVE HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT THE WIRING AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NO CORROSION. I AM UNSURE WHY I AM REPLACING BULBS EVERY FEW MONTHS

THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT BULBS LOCATED IN THE TRUNK GET EXTREMELY HOT AND MELT THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS AT LEAST 3 TIMES PER YEAR (APPROXIMATELY 30 BULBS) SINCE PURCHASING THIS CAR IN AUGUST 2015. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE REASON IS FAULTY WIRING BY HYUNDAI. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE I AM CONCERNED THAT THE BULBS MAY AT SOME POINT REACH EXTREMELY HIGH TEMPERATURES AND DO MORE DAMAGE THAN JUST MELTING THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY.
THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT BULBS LOCATED IN THE TRUNK COMPARTMENT GET EXTREMELY HOT WHICH HAS CAUSED MELTING OF THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS IS AN EXTREME FIRE HAZARD. IT IS BELIEVED THAT THIS IS CAUSED BY FAULTY WIRING BY HYUNDAI. SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN 2015, I HAVE REPLACED APPROXIMATELY 20 BULBS.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL OF THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO SPORADIC BLINKING, DIMNESS OR TOTAL OUTAGE. THIS INCLUDES ALL HEADLIGHTS, TAILLIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS. THIS IS QUITE TERRIFYING WHILE TRAVELING AT NIGHT. THIS HAS OCCURRED IN FRONT HEADLIGHTS THE MOST. I'VE CHANGED THESE MANY TIMES AND WAS EVEN WARNED BY POLICE IN ONE INSTANCE. THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WANTS $175 JUST TO LOOK AT IT. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER SONATA OWNERS, AND READ ABOUT MANY MORE, WHO HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS CONSISTENTLY WERE BURNING OUT IN MY CAR. I WOULD GO TO HYUNDAI AND HAVE THEM REPLACED WITH HYUNDAI PARTS BUT EVENTUALLY HAD TO FIX THE BRAKE LIGHTS DUE TO A BURNOUT OF THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY A MONTH AND A HALF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO REPLACE MY LIGHT BULBS OF MY BRAKE LIGHTS. THE LIGHT BULBS OVER HEAT AND THEN BRAKE. IT'S MELTING THE THE PLASTIC AROUND THE BRAKE LIGHTS. I'M AFRAID IT'S GOING TO START A FIRE.
ABOUT MARCH OF 2018 I NOTICED MY HEADLIGHTS STARTED ACTING UP. I WOULD TURN MY BLINKER ON AND ONCE THE TURN WAS COMPLETE AND THE BLINKER TURNED OFF, MY HEADLIGHTS WOULD GO OFF. VERY SCARY WHEN IT IS SO DARK OUTSIDE. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL ABOUT MARCH OF 2019. NOW IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. AND IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM NOT USING MY BLINKER. I AM JUST DRIVING DOWN THE STREET IN THE DARK AND MY HEADLIGHTS GO OUT (EVEN THE INDICATOR ON MY DASH THAT TELLS ME THE LIGHTS ARE ON GOES OFF). I HAVE TO JIGGLE THE BLINKER HANDLE TO GET THEM TO COME BACK ON. SOMETIMES THEY BLINK ON AND OFF AS WELL. THIS IS VERY SCARY AS I GO TO WORK WHEN IT IS STILL DARK OUT. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY NOW.

BREAK LIGHTING ASSEMBLY AND WIRING HARNESS MELTS AND BURNS TO A BLACK CRISP, BULBS BURST DUE TO SEVERE OVERHEATING DURING "NORMAL OPERATION" OF THE VEHICLE. SAFETY AND FIRE HAZARD WITH REAR TAIL LIGHT LAP ASSEMBLY, BULB BURNS EXTREMELY HOT RIGHT THROUGH PLASTIC HOUSING UNIT. UNABLE TO REPLACE BULBS BECAUSE LIGHTING ASSEMBLY MELTS TO THE SOCKET'S CORE AND THE SOCKET MELTS OVER THE BULB METAL BASE. EXPECT EXTREME DAMAGE PROHIBITING REPLACEMENT OF ANY BULBS. AFTER BEING PULLED OVER REPEATEDLY, INFORMED EXTERIOR LIGHTS WERE EVEN AFTER JUST CHANGING THEM.. LIGHT BULBS BURN HOT RAPIDLY, MELT TO THE SOCKET MAKE IT UNABLE TO GET ANY REPLACEMENT LIGHT BULBS TO WORK BECAUSE ENTIRE UNIT IS THEN DAMAGED, BURNT AND MELTED. BULB WILL NOT FIT BECAUSE PLASTIC UNIT HAS MELTED FROM CIRCULAR TO INWARD. LIGHTS FAIL WITHOUT THE OWNER EVER KNOWING UNTIL ITS TOO LATE. I'VE BEEN PARKED AT MALL POLICE OFFICER INFORMED ME LIGHT WAS OUT, DRIVING ON HIGHWAY PULLED OVER 7 TIMES GIVEN WARNING, REPAIR ORDERS DUE TO LIGHTS OUT, PULLED OVER ON SIDE STREET, ROAD AND LIGHTS JUST GO OUT ON HIGHWAY. BY THE TIME BULB GOES OUT ITS BURNED THE ENTIRE UNIT THROUGH WIRING, ANYTHING TOUCHING OR AROUND IT. CHANGE LIGHTS EVERY 2, 3 WEEKS. WHEN CHANGING THEM I NOTICE DAMAGE WORSENING, METAL AND BULB ARE BURNT TO A CRISP. WHEN I REPLACE ON SIDE, A WEEK OR TWO LATER I HAVE TO CHANGE THE OTHER SIDE. CREATING A TRICKLE AFFECT. ONCE ONE GOES OUT. ANOTHER GOES OUT AND SO FOURTH. YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE HOUSING UNIT WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE. SAME REPEATS.. DID NOT WORK. MY FRONT EXTERIOR LIGHT ARE NOW OUT AS OF A WEEK AGO. MEANING I ONLY HAVE 1 WORKING LIGHT. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE 300 PER SIDE TO GET IT FIXED BECAUSE I NEED NEW ELECTRICAL WIRING ! SERIOUSLY !
I WAS DRIVING 60 MILES AN HOUR ON 15 S 930 AM IN THE FAST LANE. OK HAD A 3/4THBA TANK OF GAS WHEN MY CAR SHOOK AND THEN THE SPEED DECLINED RAPIDLY. I PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND MOVED OVER BASICALLY GLIDED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS DEAD. LIGHTS AND RADIO WORKED BUT NOTHING ELSE. I HAD IT TOWED TO HYUNDAI HENDERSEN. 4 RECALLS ON THE ENGINE AND IT COULD HAVE KILLED ME IF A CAR WAS BEHIND ME.
THE DRIVERS SIDE BRAKE LIGHT MELTED TO SOCKET. I HAD IT REPLACED & HYUNDAI DEALER CHARGED ME OVER $300.00. NOW THE OTHER SIDE HAS MELTED AND I CANT GET THE PART.

MY BRAKE LIGHTS DON'T WORK I CHECKED THE BULBS AND FUSES AND THERE OK
WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE TAIL LIGHTS WILL START FLICKERING. SOMETIMES ONE WILL GO OUT, OR NOT COME ON. SOMETIMES IT THE OTHER ONE DOING IT.I HAVEN'T HAD THE OCCASION TO NOTICED IT WHEN SITTING STILL..
THE HEADLIGHTS POINT AT THE GROUND LESS THAN 30 FEET IN FRONT OF THE CAR. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT LEVEL AND EVEN. LEFT HEADLAMP IS BRIGHTER THAN THE RIGHT HEADLAMP I MUST USE HIGH BEAMS TO SEE AT NIGHT. DEALERSHIP STATES THEY CANNOT ADJUST THE HEADLIGHT LEVELS OR 'REPLICATE' THE PROBLEM...IT CAN BE SEE BY DRIVING UP TO A WALL WITH LIGHTS ON. THREE OTHER PEOPLE/FRIENDS REPLICATE THE ISSUE DURING NIGHT TIME DRIVING WITHOUT ISSUE.
LED TAIL LIGHTS STARTED FLICKERING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF WHEN BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED. CHECKED WIRING CONNECTIONS, REPLACED TURN SIGNAL BULBS, NOTHING WOULD STOP THE FLICKERING. FINALLY THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT FAILED COMPLETELY. THEN ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER THE DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT FAILED. THESE ARE LEDS. TOOK IT TO A HYUNDAI DEALER. THE CHECKED OUT THE LIGHTS. VERIFIED POWER WAS COMING TO THE LIGHTS, BUT THEY WOULD STILL NOT ILLUMINATE. APPLIED EXTERNAL POWER TO THE LIGHTS, STILL NO ILLUMINATION. RECOMMENDATION FROM THE DEALER WAS TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE UNITS. SUSPECT BRAKE LIGHTS CAN FAIL NEXT WITHOUT WARNING TO THE DRIVER.
I NOTICED AS I WAS USING MY TURN SIGNAL AS I WAS GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 5:00 IN THE MORNING THAT MY HEADLIGHTS HAD APPEARED TO GO OUT. A FEW SECONDS LATER THEY CAME BACK ON. I THOUGHT MAYBE I WAS SEEING THINGS BUT THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN AS I WAS SIGNALING TO CHANGE LANES. FOR THE REST OF THE 25 MILES TO GET TO WORK ON A BUSY HIGHWAY I STOPPED USING MY TURN SIGNAL FOR FEAR THAT MY HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT COME BACK ON. I TOOK BY CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE HEADLIGHT ISSUE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ISSUE FIXED. I WAS CALLED WHILE MY CAR WAS STILL AT THE DEALER THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE HEADLIGHT ISSUE AND THAT THEY REPLACED SOME PART THAT HAD TO DO WITH THE OIL. OF COURSE WITH THE ENGINE ONLY BEING 2 YEARS OLD I HAD TO PAY. I PAID $458 AND WHEN I LEFT THE DEALER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF. I LET MY NEPHEW BORROW MY CAR FOR A WEEK AND WHEN I PICKED IT UP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK ON AND WAS STILL HAVING THE HEADLIGHT ISSUE WHEN SIGNALING. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES LOOKED AT AGAIN. A WEEK GOES BY AND I HEAR NOTHING BUT I DO GET AN AUTOMATED VOICEMAIL FROM THE DEALER REGARDING A GREAT INCENTIVE TO TRADE IN MY CAR FOR A NEWER MODEL. NO THANKS!! I'M DONE WITH HYUNDAI. I CALL THE DEALER TO CHECK ON THE STATUS OF MY CAR TWICE AND GET NO ANSWER. I DRIVE TO THE DEALER TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE. ONCE AGAIN I AM TOLD THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE HEADLIGHT ISSUE AND DIAGNOSTIC SHOWS NO ISSUES BUT IT COULD BE THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON BECAUSE THE CAM SHIFT SENSOR WENT BAD. NOW I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY THIS WAS NOT FOUND THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT THE CAR IN. SO NOW I'M TOLD THE SHOP FOREMAN WAS OUT ALL WEEK AND THEY ARE WAITING FOR HIM TO LOOK AT MY CAR TO SEE IF HE CAN FIGURE OUT THE HEADLIGHT ISSUE. I'M REALLY IRRITATED AT THIS POINT AND WILL BE TRADING THIS CAR IN AND IT WON'T BE WITH HYUNDAI.

WHEN THIS HAPPENS, INSIDE DASH LIGHTS WILL USUALLY BE BRIGHTER - THE SAME AS WHEN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION. THIS PRESENTS A GREAT RISK FOR NIGHTTIME DRIVING. NOT ONLY ARE YOU WITHOUT EXTERIOR LIGHTING, BUT YOU ARE ALSO BLINDED FROM THE SUDDEN CHANGE OF INTERIOR LIGHTING. I BELIEVE THE FAULTY PART IS THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH BECAUSE IT CAN BE TAPPED OR QUICKLY TURNED OFF AND BACK ON TO GET THE HEADLIGHTS TO COME BACK ON. SOMETIMES THE TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT EVEN NEED TO BE ACTIVATED FOR THE HEADLIGHTS TO TURN OFF - ONLY TOUCHED. IT MOSTLY OCCURS WHEN SIGNALING TO TURN LEFT.
MY BRAKES LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING IN MID AIR. THIS CAN POSE A DANGER TO OTHER DRIVERS WHO ARE RIDING BEHIND ME WITH MY VEHICLE HAVING NO BRAKE INDICATION. THIS HAPPENED IN MY 2009 SANTA FE AND HAD MULTIPLE REAR ENDS. THIS IS A BIG CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILIES SAFETY AS WELL AS OTHER.
I HAVE NEVER NEEDED TO REPLACE MY BRAKE LIGHTS SO THEY ARE THE ORIGINAL ONES MY CAR CAME WITH. AFTER BEING INFORMED MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE OUT WHEN I WENT TO CHECK THEM THE LIGHT BULBS WERE MELTED TO THE SOCKET AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET ANY REPLACEMENT LIGHT BULBS TO WORK EVEN WITH NEW SOCKETS.

USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN TURN SIGNAL IS BEING ENGAGED/DISENGAGED, HOWEVER IT ALSO HAPPENS RANDOMLY ON ITS OWN. CAN BE DISORIENTING TO DRIVER. MAY BE CONSTRUED BY OTHER MOTORISTS AS A NUISANCE OR THREAT.

BOTH MAIN BULBS COULD NOT BE EXTRACTED FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE DUE TO MELTED HOUSING. OWNER TOOK CAR TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO HAD TO "CRACK OPEN" BOTH LIGHT BULB HOUSINGS TO REPLACE BULBS FOR TAIL & BRAKE LIGHTS DUE TO MELTED FUSING OF PLASTIC PARTS. CAR UNDER OEM WARRANTY; SUGGEST YOU HAVE NEW LED TAIL LIGHTS & ASSEMBLY INSTALLED FOR LESS HEAT AND POTENTIAL MELTING OF ASSEMBLY.
