2024 Honda Pilot Transmission Problems

Your car's automatic idle-stop feature caused the engine to stall at a red light, and it wouldn't restart. The transmission shifted itself into Neutral or Park, and your car became completely unresponsive for about a minute. This created a dangerous situation where you had no control of the vehicle. The issue likely involves the idle-stop system, starter motor, or engine control computer and may require diagnostics and repair or replacement of faulty components.

Your 2024 Honda Pilot's brakes activated on their own twice while driving at highway speeds, causing the car to suddenly slow down from 75 MPH to 40 MPH without warning lights. You also noticed a banging sound from under the car and found transmission fluid leaking on the ground. The dealer diagnosed a transmission failure that requires replacement.

Vehicle lags when trying to accelerate on to freeway or moving through intersection.

This 10 speed transmission is dangerous. It hesitates and jerks constantly. Both up and down shifts will hesitate or drop into gears. While at speeds under 50mph the car will lurch and rock back and forth with some shifts. I'm current on all recalls. Only 23,000 miles. I've taken it in to Honda and did a ride along with the tech and he felt it too, but until there is a check engine light, theres nothing they can do to help me. This is a wide spread issue among owners when you search forums. Please look into this issue and push Honda to release a software update.

When shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, the motor dips in RPM's then speeds up quickly. I now have 5000 miles on the vehicle and it is still happening. It's a safety hazard that the Honda Service Dept says is normal. On many quorum's, many people are complaining about the same problem. My local mechanic says that the electronic sequence of the transmission needs refreshed but has to wait for a Honda Repair Directive. Others have said that this issue is in one in three Honda Pilots with 10 speed transmissions.

When pushing the accelerator there is typically anywhere from a 2 to 5 second delay before the vehicle starts to move. On average the delay is around 2 seconds, but there have been times where trying to pull into traffic the vehicle would not move for approximately 4 to 5 seconds creating a hazard. When the care is moving at higher speeds, the acceleration and gas pedal response is accurate, this only occurs when at a stand still or at very slow speeds. I have taken the car to the dealership to be evaluated and they informed me that the vehicle is operating as it is intended to and the delay is normal. I believe that this acceleration delay is inevitably going to cause an accident because it is difficult to gauge when the care is going to begin moving due to the inconsistent acceleration issue.

When transmission is in "Normal" operating mode and starting to move, it has a hesitation when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, then the motor races and the vehicle lunges forward. I have taken it to the dealership but they said they found nothing wrong. The problem is worse when the motor is cold but it happens at any motor temperature. I have read about many, many people having this problem.

HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF DEALER FINDINGS AT THIS POINT

My Pilot has less than 1300 miles on it and when in lower gears the transmission will rev high, hesitate, then jerk forward, at times feeling as though it’s losing power before the gear catches. Called the dealership who told me it’s normal and without any warning lights on they won’t find anything.
