ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Pilot, 2019-2020 Odyssey and 2019-2020 Passport vehicles. Incorrect central network software programming may cause several errors to occur that can delay or prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."
Fix: Honda will notify owners that updated software is available. Owners have the option to either follow the mailed instructions to download and update the software for free, or visit a dealer to have the software update performed, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is Y7Y.

The auto shut off has been not working properly and the vehicle wont restart after it shuts off. My wife was at a traffic light, and the vehicle shut off. When the light turned green, it did not restart.

I was stopped at a stop light with my auto-idle system engaged. When the light turned to green the auto-idle would not disengage leaving me stalled in traffic. When I pressed on the gas I got an error message about the 'anti-collision system' being offline.

Last week, my wife was picking up our 2 year old son from daycare in our 2020 Honda Pilot. She secured him in his car seat and placed her purse with the Honda key fob on the back seat and closed the door. The car somehow locked itself between the time she closed the door and attempted opening the front door, leaving my son locked in the back seat.

July 21,2023 Pulled of highway and car went idle at a light car turned off completely and didnt turn on car turned on after 2 minutes. August 13, same situation happened car didnt turn on for 3 minutes. In May car was serviced forr idle recall and I never had this issue until now.

Popping and cracking constantly throughout and behind dash/windshield regardless if the car is stationary or moving. There is no way to measure engine speed, fuel, oil pressure, or what gear you are in.

Regardless of whether the car is in drive or park, the electronic system makes an awful cracking/popping sound. This also happens when the doors lock, etc. Last week, the sound got so intense that and all of the sudden the speedometer and radio system went completely blank and would not come back on.

Bought new 2020 black edition honda pilot on may 2,2020 with 11 miles on it. It caught on fire on 6/15/20 after driving only 3 miles I noticed a bad burnt smell as I was entering a parking garage, not thinking it was my car because it was new and there were no display lights indicating anything. 2020 Honda Pilot Touring was purchased in CT at Honda of Stamford, May of 2023. I started having issues in July pertaining to extreme dust coming into the cabin causing my children and myself asthma conditions to worsen. I took the car to the dealer and they blew out something connected with the system.

The engine stalled when I did not disable idle-stop. When I slowed down and stopped my Pilot 2020 due to traffic or traffic lights, the idle-stop activated. The engine was then stalled occasionally and the system requested me to step the brake and push start button to restart my Pilot.

While stopped at a red traffic light after taking a freeway exit with one foot on the brake, my 2020 Honda Pilot engaged in auto stop (auto idle stop). When the traffic light turned green, I took my foot off of the brake, the vehicle attempted to start but stalled with the electrical components still on (dashboard indicators and ventilation still on).

On four (4) separate incidents, my car has either abruptly stopped running (waiting at a stoplight) or not been able to start. When I push the Engine Start/ Stop button to restart the car, it does not start and several random warning and dashboard lights flash on and off like crazy. These incidents occurred twice before the recall was fixed and twice AFTER the recall was (supposedly) fixed.

Numerous times while stopped at a red light/stop sign/traffic, the auto idle stop feature will kick in, but then the car will not immediately restart. Most times if the car is then turned all the way off and put in park it will restart. Now two different times, it would not start back up at all causing to car to be stuck in the middle of the road and requiring it to be towed.

The Auto Engine Idle function has been problematic for a while now, causing the engine to stall. It seems to have gotten progressively worse and now happens whenever I forget to disengage the Auto Engine Idle. One time in the spring of 2021, my husband had pulled into the intersection and was waiting for the chance to turn, only to find the engine stall and not respond to anything.

I'm writing to inform you of a severe safety issue that occurred with our 2020 honda pilot touring edition. My family and I were driving on the highway at about 70 MPH when all of a sudden the car wouldn't accelerate and in fact lost power. The engine light was flashing and we were fortunate to have an exit ramp close and we coasted off on the exit ramp limited to 5 MPH.

All the associated warnings are on dash, diagnosed at local Honda dealership with code u 3006-16. Advised multi camera failure and requested $1600 to repair. Immediate after I am now getting a transmission warning problem on dash.

The “smart” control module, part# 38320-TG7-L112-M1 was removed and inspected; obvious incomplete conformation coverage was discovered along with significant dendritic growth on an uncovered IC. Proper cleaning of the board alleviated the issue – for the time being at any rate.

The car's engine randomly stopped working and required jump start twice. Despite replacing the valve adjustment and battery, the problem persisted. The Honda dealer we approached did diagnostic testing twice, stated that it could be a problem with the car's Auto Idle Stop system, but did not offer a definitive solution.

There was a recall T89 but Honda says my VIN does not come up under the recall even though it is the same issue. This is an intermittent problem.

The Honda Pilot radio center includes the back-up camera and also Apple-Play used for navigation. This system was subject to a recall earlier when the radio would crackle and then the info center would lose power on an intermittent basis. A recall was performed, and a cable was replaced.

The vehicle has a defect with the radio/audio/bluetooth system making a crackling sound while operating the vehicle. The Honda dealer acknowledged that this is a recall issue, although no recall currently exists and as a result they replaced the FAKRA service cables. This did not solve the problem and it is one that is common to all Honda Pilots of this year.

American Honda states they performed NHTSA Recall Number 23V-431 but rear view camera still does not operate correctly. They are stating that I must pay out of pocket to replace a different part to be able to have the rear view camera operational again and per the terms of the recall notice, I am to have this fixed without charge and within a reasonable amount of time. Please help!

NHTSA Recall Number 23V-431 calls for cable connectors to be changed out due to poor connections resulting in the rear view camera image to function intermittingly or not display at all. Per Honda engineering, this repair is not sufficient to fix the issue and the main head unit has to be replaced too.

On multiple occassions, my Engine Auto Idle Start/Stop has malfunctioned. In particular, when the car goes into idle while stopped at a traffic light, there are times when the car completely shuts off. This is dangerous at any time because it has been unpredictable.

When the 2020 Honda Pilot sits for over 3-6 days, the battery goes dead. I have brought it to the Honda Dealership and they have checked out the battery and alternator and say it's working properly. I have jumped the Honda Pilot 6 times because of a dead battery and had the battery replaced once.

The car's front and back sensors will trigger for no reason. In a drive-thru it'll tell me that I am going to run into something after I've been sitting there for three minutes and not moving. The brakes slam on consistently, this happens at least three times every time I drive the car, as I'm driving down a road not about to run into anything or anyone.

We purchased a new 2020 honda pilot, touring model, from stokes honda north in north charleston, sc on june 27, 2020. Within several days, we experienced persistent static coming from the front speakers, with or without the radio on and regardless of the vehicle being in motion or stationary. This issue resulted in distracted driving on each occasion.

While driving on the highway at 75 MPH the speakers made a terrible popping even thought the audio system was off and then entire dash screen with the speedometer went out and rebooted so I had no idea what speed I was going for 10 seconds. We had cruise control on and the whole system went haywire. It was beyond scary.

About 30-40 minutes into driving when we hit a bump or pothole the speedometer and infotainment screen flickers says tuner lost, the audio pops severely like something hitting the windshield. It's scary - looks like the electrical system is loose

I purchased my 2020 honda pilot on 12/9/2019. It has been 6 months and each time while driving, I hear a loud, "crackling" sound coming from the dashboard, presumably the speakers. This happens even when the audio system is off.

After 2 months of driving a new 2020 pilot elite, the speakers started popping loudly and continuously even when the audio is turned off. The popping occurs sporadically and touch screen reports "network connection lost" where it will not play bluetooth audio or an fm radio station. The popping occurs when stopped and when moving.

The entire electrical system shuts down while driving, including the main display which has the speedometer. The speakers make an enormous cracking sound before, during and after the shut down. It is a huge safety issue and makes the car an unsafe vehicle to drive.

While driving, crackling and popping started coming out of speakers, even with radio off. The infotainment system then said "network signal lost" and the dashboard display with the speedometer started rebooting over and over again until I shut the car off and turned it back on.

We we're driving down the interstate and the instrument panel as well as the infotainment center went black/completely out. We could not tell our speed nor any other vehicle data as the instrument pane was dead. While the infotainment center going out is bad, having no instrument panel is very dangerous and a major safety concern.

Display audio/information screen became hot while driving and screen malfunctioned while using apple carplay with iphone plugged in via USB cord. Display screen runs warm while phone is disconnected. Display screen does not turn off after tuning off the engine and the lights dim.
