AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling specific 2003 Acura 3.2CL, 2013-2016 ILX, 2013-2014 ILX Hybrid, 2003-2006 MDX, 2007-2016 RDX, 2002-2003 3.2TL, 2004-2006, and 2009-2014 TL, 2010-2013 ZDX and 2001-2007 and 2009 Honda Accord, 2001-2005 Civic, 2003-2005 Civic Hybrid, 2001-2005 Civic GX NGV, 2002-2007 and 2010-2011 CR-V, 2003-2011 Element, 2007 Fit, 2002-2004 Odyssey, 2003-2008 Pilot, and 2006-2014 Ridgeline vehicles. The affected vehicles received a replacement driver air bag inflator as part of a previous Takata inflator recall remedy or a replacement driver air bag module containing the same inflator type as a service part. Due to a manufacturing error, in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver frontal air bag, these inflators may explode.

Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's air bag inflator with an alternate inflator, free of charge. The recall began April 10, 2019. Honda owners may contact customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is O41. Acura owners may contact customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Acura's number for this recall is U40.

The front passenger air bag may have been installed incorrectly during replacement.

Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the passenger frontal air bag module assembly, free of charge. The recall began June 22, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are K1P, and M1O.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2001-2007 Accord, 2001-2005 Civic, 2001-2004 Honda Civic GX, 2003-2005 Honda Civic Hybrid, 2002-2006 CR-V, 2003-2011 Element, 2002-2004 Odyssey, 2003-2008 Pilot, 2006 Ridgeline, 2003 Acura 3.2CL, 2003-2006 Acura MDX, and 2002-2003 Acura 3.2TL vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion and other factors, including manufacturing variability that, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.

Fix: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on July 1, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Owners may contact Acura customer service at 1-800-382-2238, select option 4. Note: Vehicles that have had their driver frontal air bag replaced previously as part of a recall remedy prior to September 12, 2014 need to have their air bag replaced under this recall as well. Vehicles that, on or after September 12, 2014, received a remedy for a prior driver frontal air bag inflator recall already received an inflator of a different design, and therefore are not included in this recall and do not require additional servicing. APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED WITH APPOINTMENT DESK AT NORTHWEST HONDA OF OWINGS MILLS UPON RECEIPT OF CARD FOR 11/8/16 TO REPLACE AIR BAG. UPON ARRIVAL AT NORTHWEST HONDA I WAS TOLD THE APPOINTMENT WAS NEVER SCHEDULED, THEY WERE BOOKED AND I HAD THE OPTION TO WAIT 2 HOURS TO BE SERVICED. I HAVE WAITED 5 MONTHS FOR A RECALLED PART TO BE REPLACED IN MY CAR AND AFTER WAITING 5 MONTHS I AM TOLD TO WAIT 2 ADDITIONAL HOURS AFTER THE DEALER MADE A MISTAKE IN THEIR SCHEDULING. I REQUESTED FOR THE EXISTING DEFECTIVE AIRBAG TO BE REMOVED AND WAS ADVISED THIS CANNOT BE DONE BECAUSE IT IS AGAINST THE LAW. I REQUESTED FOR THE PART TO BE GIVEN TO ME SO I CAN HAVE ANOTHER DEALERSHIP INSTALL IT, I WAS TOLD THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED BY LAW TO DO THIS EITHER. I WAS GIVEN AN APPIONTMENT OF 7/15/16 TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED. THEY THEN CANCELLED MY APPOINTMENT AND SINCE THEN THEY KEEP PUTTING ME OFF SAYING THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS YET. IT HAS BEEN OVER 60 DAYS SINCE I FIRST CONTACTED THEM AND THE RECALLED PARTS STILL HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED.

ON JUNE 2015 I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE FROM BRANDON HONDA DEALER. IN DECEMBER 2015 MY VEHICLE STARTED TO GIVE ME SOME PROBLEMS, ALIGNMENT, TIRES, ENGINE, INSTABILITY WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY. THE DEALER EXPECTED ME TO PAY OVER 1,000 DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIRS, HOWEVER THEY DID FIXED THEM AT NO COST. NOW JUNE 2016, ONE YEAR AFTER PURCHASE MY CAR STILL HAVING MAJOR PROBLEMS, TIRES, INSTABILITY WHEN DRIVING AND ALIGNMENT ISSUES. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE FOR OIL SERVICE ON JUNE 2016 I EXPRESSED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS PULLING TO LEFT SO THEY RECOMMENDED AN ALIGNMENT I AGREED, AFTER 5 HOURS WAITING AND ME DRIVING AWAY THE PULLING TO THE LEFT WAS NOT FIXED AT ALL I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND DEMANDED THEM TO FIXED IT, THEY STATED THAT BECAUSE MY TIRES NEEDED TO BE CHANGED THAT'S WHY IT WAS NOT FIXED, MIND YOU THAT I ALREADY PAID OVER $100 DOLLARS AND THEY TOLD ME THIS AFTER THE FACT. NOW I RECEIVED A RECALL AND THEY HAVE NOT CONTACTED ME BACK TO EVEN MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. HOW CAN A KNOWN DEALERSHIP PROMISED YOU THAT THE CAR IS RELIABLE AND INSPECTED BY A CERTIFY MECHANIC AND THAT IT WILL LAST FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS AND HERE I AM ONLY 1 YEAR FROM THE TIME I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE AND I AM HAVING CAR ISSUES THAT CAN CAUSED ME AND MY KIDS LIFE BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS TURNING RIGHT OFF OF AN ACCESS ROAD AND WAS BEHIND A GMC YUKON. THE YUKON BEGAN TO MOVE SO I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WHILE MAKING SURE THE WAY WAS STILL CLEAR. THE YUKON STOPPED VERY SUDDENLY AND I HIT THE REAR OF THE YUKON. IT APPEARS MY BUMPER WENT UNDER THE YUKON BUMPER AND I SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE TO MY 2008 HONDA PILOT. MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND I WAS TOLD BY THE WRECKER DRIVER THAT THIS WAS BECAUSE THE SENSOR IN THE BUMPER WAS NOT ACTIVATED. MY HAND WAS BROKEN AND I RECEIVED SOME INJURY TO MY NECK AND CHEST. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA PILOT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED THE PRECEDING VEHICLE AND WAS REAR ENDED BY THE VEHICLE IN HIS REAR. THE VEHICLE BEHIND HIM WAS TRAVELING 60 MPH AS WELL. FOUR OCCUPANTS WERE INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE. NONE OF THE EIGHT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 12,300.
