My driver heating element in my seat stopped working. I went to get it fixed and that’s when they noticed the charred heating pad in the seat had burnet makers on it. I have picture showing that the electrical part in the heating pad indicator has black marks around the wires and burnt through the pad and the electrical coils. The seat under the leather part had damage to it. This would have caused a fire. I’m very lucky. I bought the part on [XXX]. I just want to be reimburse from Ford Dealership the part cost. As stated in a previous complaint vehicle has what one professional mechanic diagnosed as an "electrical fathom draw" which drains the battery. The issue with the vehicle started on July 1st which the timing seems ironic since it was the first day of the month. I have taken the vehicle to several qualified mechanics who could not diagnose what was draining the battery. Purchased a new battery and still having the same issue. Each time I had roadside assistance jumpstart the battery they stated it was not the altenator or the starter. No codes to perform a diagnostic like "check engine" light or other warning signs.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to start. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics to be diagnosed. The contact stated that a mechanic replaced the starter; however, the failure persisted. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000. The VIN was not available.
While driving on a major highway during rush hour, at the posted speed limit (65MPH) , without any warning the vehicle completely lost any and all braking capability without any prior warning or indication of an issue later on after managing to avoid any type of accident or collision with anything around. I turned the car off, when turning the car back on then and only then I received a dashboard full of lights most important being “service advancetrac” and (!) BRAKE, “Check break system”. By reading many other forums with the same car and the exact issues and notifications it says that there is a glitch in the ABS module with communicates with the hydraulic control unit which caused complete and catastrophic brake failure. Which could have resulted in a major accident, risking my life, the occupants of my vehicle, and any other vehicle around. Lucky I was able to maneuver my way off to the side of the highway, and slowly make my vehicle come to a stop, then putting it in park, which would be the only way to stop the vehicle from moving or rolling back or forward. I believe this is a very serious issue that must be addressed. The car is now being diagnosed at a Ford Dealer at a cost of $200 and probably a repair cost of over $2600 according to others. I’am still waiting after spending $1000 on a car rental to make it to work so I would not risk my job. This is all more money then I even make, these companies need to be held accountable for putting the lives of me and my family and all the other people and families on the road that day. Thank god this did not end differently. The website is not allowing me to upload any photos of the light that appeared on the dashboard only after the incident occurred! I would have liked for people to see incase they experience this same issue
It started in February 2023 no warning lights nothing just when I came to a stop at a red light the car dies it will start right back most of the time but other times when you start it back it's like the starter stays engaged and makes a struttering sound and whole car shakes and you have to hurry and shut it back off and restart it again the longer you drive the car the more it dies when you come to a stop other times it may not do it for days I've almost been in 7 accidents that I've counted bc of this issue bc it dies and ppl think I should be moving and I can't or I just turn at a light and it will die and I can go until I restart it I also think it cause my battery to go out bc I had to replace it not long after this started. It's not been reported to anyone but you or inspected but is available to be anytime. Components affected ( DOOR HANDLE INSIDE PASSANGER SIDE)My 2nd issue is with my passenger side door handle without warning it just stopped working and now you have to roll window down to open from outside my safety could be at risk bc I wouldn't be able to get out of car if there was a crash. It's not been reported, inspected by anyone but is available anytime to be.
CHECK FUEL FILL INLET THE LIGHT STAY ON
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH with the air conditioning activated, there was a burning odor inside the vehicle. The contact reached under the glove box and discovered that the heat sink and wiring harness connecting the fan was extremely hot to the touch. The contact indicated that no flames were present but the wires were visibly charred and burnt. The contact stated that the heat sink and wiring harness connection to the fan had been replaced on multiple occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Advancetrac light started turning on, then about the 3rd time the light flashed electric brakes went away and was left with extremely hard to press hydraulic brakes. Just to SCAN the car ford wants $200 because they have a proprietary system...
AFTER HAVING THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL TAKEN CARE OF BY FRANKLIN FORD LINCOLN THE ENGINE OIL LIGHT WAS ON AND THE BATTERY KEPT DRAINING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED TODAY. FORD CLAIMS THAT THEY DID NOTHING INCORRECT IN THE RECALL BUT PRIOR TO TAKING MY CAR TO FORD THE BATTERY AND 02 SENSOR WERE IN FINE WORKING ORDER. AFTER THE RECALL THEY WERE NOT. AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY TODAY THE CAR STILL HESITATES TO START AND THE AC SYSTEM KEEPS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE. THIS WAS NOT HAPPENING BEFORE THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. I DON'T THINK THAT MY CAR WILL EVER BE THE SAME AND IT IS ALL DUE TO FORD LINCOLN OF FRANKLIN REPLACING THE AIRBAGS.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HER FORD FUSION WHEN THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING.
MULTIPLE TIMES NOW THIS HAS HAPPENED... I'LL GIVE YOU THE MOST NERVE WRACKING EXPERIENCE, WHERE I HONESTLY WAS SCARED FOR MY LIFE. IT WAS 10:30PM, I WAS DRIVING OUT OF TOWN ON MY WAY BACK HOME FROM A FRIENDS, ON A TINY 2 LANE ROAD GOING 55, ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL OF MY POWER CUT OUT! NO RADIO, HEADLIGHTS, HAZARD LIGHTS WOULDN'T EVEN WORK!!! I HAD TO SLOW DOWN IN THE PITCH BLACK DARKNESS, HOPING TO GOD THERE WASN'T ANY DEER. ON TOP OF THAT... JUST WAITING FOR ANOTHER CAR TO TURN DOWN THE ROAD I WAS ON, BARRELING AT ME AT 55MPH. I WAS TERRIFIED! MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ARE FINE. THE ELECTRIC FINALLY CAME BACK ON AFTER A FEW MINUTES... BUT THIS COULD HAVE HAD A VERY DIFFERENT ENDING.
FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSY. T\INTERNAL FAULT CODE P2112 CAUSED THE POWER ON CAR TO GO TO LIMP MODE. THIS CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE ITEM HAS BEEN FLAGGED IN FEBRUARY 21, 2013 NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE13003ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE13003 FORD HAS FAILED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE ON MY VEHICLE. THIS OCCURRED 17 AUG 2020. THE VEHICLE WAS AT 152,000 MILES AND HAD BEEN SERVICED REGULAR BY FORD SINCE PURCHASE IN 2011. THIS ISSUE SHOULD HAVE NEVER OCCURRED. I HAD STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND MADE A RIGHT TURN ON TO EXPRESSWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. WITH NO ACCELERATION THIS BECAME A DANGEROUS SITUATION VERY QUICKLY. I EXPECTED TO ACCELERATE TO 45MPH BUT COULD BARLEY CREEP TO 20 MPH MAX.
HEATER/DEFROST BLOWER SPEED CONTROLLER AND ASSOCIATED WIRING FAILURE CAUSING WIRE SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER DASH BOARD. IF I DIDN'T TURN OFF CLIMATE CONTROL, I SUSPECT IT COULD HAVE ESCALATED TO AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. WITHOUT DEFROST WORKING, IT IS HARD TO SEE OUT OF WINDSHIELD.

DRIVER DOOR WON'T OPEN FROM THE INSIDE
MY CARS WINSHIELD WIPERS HAVE A SHORT IN THEM WHEN I PUT ON AIR. THE MY CAR KEEPS SHAKING WHEN DRIVING. MY AIRBAGA STILL ARENT WORKING AND CAR FEELS LIKE ITS STILL IDLING ROUGH. ALL OF RHE RECALLS WERE FIXED BUT STILL HAVING SAME PROBLEM. CAR WAS IN MOTION FOR VIBRATING AND PARKED WHEN I NOTICED AIR BAGS
CAR CAME UP WITH "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC/SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" ERROR CODES.
THE BLOWER MOTOR CONNECTOR AND BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR WILL MELT WITH USE, WHICH CAUSES SMOKING TO COME FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOD UNDER THE GLOVE BOX. IS NOT SAFE AND I HAVE REPLACED 3 TIMES SINCE 2014. IT CAN HAPPEN WHILE SITTING AND DRIVING, DOES NOT MATTER. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO FORD THEY MUST NOT CARE BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN TOLD ITS NOT THEIR PROBLEM, OR TO GET OVER IT.
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE AND LOCK BROKE AT THE SAME TIME. TWO WAYS TO GET OUT, ROLLING THE WINDOW DOWN AND OPENING FROM OUTSIDE OR PULLING THE HANDLE AND LOCK AT THE SAME TIME ON THE INSIDE. THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK.
FAULTY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. AFTER CLIMBING OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND WALKING AROUND THE CAR THE DRIVER'S DOOR DID OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. FORD LISTS A RECALL FOR 2013-2014 FUSION, BUT NOT EARLIER YEARS. AN INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS I AM NOT THE ONLY 2011 OWNER WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

THE A/C BLOWER RESISTOR AND THE BLOWER RESISTOR CONNECTOR HAS BURNED AND MELTED 2 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2012. AS I WAS DRIVING A/C WOULD BLOW HARD FOR A MINUTE OR SO THE GO OUT, AND THE FINAL TIME IT WENT OUT BOTH TIMES MY PASSENGER SAW SMOKE AT HIS FEET FROM UNDER THE GLOVE BOX.
WHEN I START MY CAR I GET A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE AND A SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC MESSAGE. I CAN NOT TURN MY STEERING WHEEL AND MY CAR ACTS AS IF IT WON'T DO ANYTHING. I CAN TURN MY CAR OFF, WAIT, THEN START AGAIN AND IT IS FINE. MY PASSENGER SEAT BELT ALSO WILL RANDOMLY NOT CLICK INTO THE BUCKLE OR COME UNLOCKED. NOW THIS IS AFTER FORD SUPPOSEDLY FIXED ANOTHER RECALL CAUSING MY CAR TO DROP TO A LOW SPEED OUT OF NOWHERE.
I CAME HOME FROM SHOPPING AND WAS UNABLE TO OPEN MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR TO EXIT THE CAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I HAVE OWNED PREVIOUS VEHICLES AND NEVER HAD ISSUES THAT A DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. I HAD TO OPEN MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND ACTUALLY REACH OUT TO OPEN THE CAR DOOR. THIS WAS A ISSUE THAT WAS ONGOING FOR FORD FUSIONS AS I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE FAULTY DOOR LATCHES.
CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT SYSTEM MALFUNCTION AND REAR PARK AID ALERT MALFUNCTION.
VEHICLE REPAIRED 4 TIMES FOR INOPERABLE BLOWER MOTOR. FAN/BLOWER WILL EITHER FAIL OUTRIGHT, OR OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND EVENTUALLY COMPLETE FAILURE. WILL FAIL EITHER IN WINTER OR SUMMER WHEN FAN IS USED THE MOST. THE FIRST TWO TIMES (3/1/2014 & 3/14/2016) THE RESISTOR CONTROL ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE WIRE HARNESS. THE THIRD TIME (11/29/2016) THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS REPLACED. THE FOURTH TIME THE BLOWER MOTOR CONNECTOR WAS REPLACED. OBVIOUSLY THESE CONNECTORS ARE MELTING DUE TO THE CURRENT DRAWN BY THE BLOWER MOTOR. I BELIEVE THERE MAY BE A TSB ISSUE, BUT FORD REFUSES TO ASSIST AS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO HELP OR HONOR ANY WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY MANAGE TO REPLACE "DIFFERENT" PARTS EACH TIME, THOUGH I BELIEVE THAT IF THE BLOWER MOTOR, THE RESISTOR, AND ALL CONNECTORS WERE ALL REPLACED AT THE ONSET WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY ONE OR MORE OF THESE REPAIRS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE PRESENTED DURING WHEN THE FAN BLOWER STOPS WORKING SUDDENLY, AND THE WINDSHIELD WILL NOT DEFROST IN THE WINTER. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. DURING THE SUMMER DURING HIGH HUMIDITY, THE SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE FAN BLOWER MOTOR ALSO CAUSES THE DRIVER WINDSHIELD TO FOG UP ABRUPTLY, ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD. BOTH HAVE HAPPENED TO ME. THE COST OF THE REPAIRS $368, $455, $165 (~$1000) THUS FAR WITH THE FIRST CLAIM BEING UNDER WARRANTY. I'M CONCERNED THAT AFTER 4 VISITS FOR THE SAME CONCERN, THIS WILL REPEATEDLY HAPPEN. NOT SURE IF IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE BUT MY VEHICLE HAS THE INTEGRATED ONBOARD NAVIGATION SYSTEM.

THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE OEM PART WOULD FAIL AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO RECOMMENDATION NOR A SOLUTION. THERE WAS NO CLARIFICATION IF THERE WAS A NEWLY DESIGNED PART OR THE SAME PART THAT HAD PREVIOUSLY FAILED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
ISSUE HAPPENED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHT GOES OFF AND ON EVERY SECOND WITH BEEPS AND CHANGING MESSAGES: TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT, DOOR AJAR. VEHICLE LEFT/RIGHT TURN SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. ISSUE RESOLVED BY ITSELF AFTER 10 MINUTES DRIVING. HOWEVER RADIO SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY AFTER THIS INCIDENT. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. EARLIER THAT DAY, WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE SENSORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND HEATER FAILED. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE ELECTRICAL POWER DID NOT RETURN UNTIL MINUTES LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000.
DRIVERS SIDE INSIDE DOOR LATCH BROKE. COULD NOT OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE THE CAR. HAD TO PUT WINDOW DOWN AND REACH OUTSIDE THE CAR TO OPEN DOOR.
MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WOULD NOT OPEN... WENT TO THE DEALERS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT 2012 , 2013 HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUY NOT MY YEAR.

VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

ELECTRIC LOCKS ON DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT DISENGAGE BY HITTING THE DOOR BUTTON OR THE REMOTE -MUST LOWER WINDOW AND REACH THROUGH TO UNLOCK FROM THE OUTSIDE. BEING TRAPPED INSIDE THE CAR IS A SAFETY ISSUE. MILEAGE WHEN PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED WAS APPROXIMATELY 91000.
'3 MAY 2013 (MILEAGE 32,800) MOAB, UTAH. DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS AROUND MOAB FOR MY DAUGHTERS WEDDING. ONE PASSENGER IN THE CAR BESIDE MYSELF. WHILE DRIVING AROUND A SHARP CURVE, ALL THE ELECTRONICS IN THE CAR WENT DEAD. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN, ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASH, THE RADIO, AC ALL STOPPED WORKING. POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES WERE NON-FUNCTIONING. THIS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF FIVE TIMES. '26 AUGUST 2015 (MILEAGE APPROXIMATELY 55,600) TIME: 6:00PM. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. I'D STOPPED AT A STREET LIGHT AND WHEN I PULLED SHARPLY OUT ONTO MAIN ROAD, THE CAR WENT DARK AGAIN AND ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SHUT DOWN. I QUICKLY RESTARTED IT BY SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL AND STARTING IT WITH THE KEY. THREE BLOCKS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAD HAPPENED ON A STRAIGHTAWAY. I WAS DRIVING BY MYSELF. '6 SEPTEMBER 2015 (MILEAGE APPROXIMATELY 55,950 BETWEEN SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO AND LAKE ELSINORE, CA. FIRST AT ABOUT 42000 MILES IN OCTOBER 2012 THE DRIVER SEAT BECAME SO HOT IT CREATED 1ST DEGREE BURNS ON MY HUSBAND. THE SEAT HEATER WENT OUT SOON AFTER. NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THE SEAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE AT 55000 MILES THE DRIVER DOOR HANDLE BECAME UNLATCHED WITHIN THE DOOR AND STOPPED OPENING FROM THE INSIDE. WHAT IF I HAD A WRECK AND COULDN'T GET OUT? NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. I'VE HEARD IT'S COMMON ON THE FUSIONS. THE FRONT DOOR SPEAKERS WENT OUT SOON AFTER ALL OF THIS. AT 90000 MILES THE PASSENGER SEAT HEATER WENT OUT. SAME BURNING HOT THING BUT THIS TIME NO ONE WAS BURNED. AT 95000 MILES THE SAFETY SYSTEM HAS NOW GONE OUT. IT FLASHES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR PARK AID AND A FAULT WITH THE CROSS TRAFFIC SYSTEM. I'VE READ THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE SPEAKERS CAUSE THIS. MY WIFE AND INFANT DAUGHTER MUST NOW DRIVE AROUND (TWICE A DAY, 5 DAYS A WEEK) WAITING FOR IT TO FAIL AGAIN, AND TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AT THE TIME OF MALFUNCTION. I HAVE BEEN SENSING A SURGE IN ENGINE POWER FOR SEVERAL MONTHS IN MY 2011 FUSION. I SUSPECTED A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM AND GOOGLED FOR INFORMATION. I FOUND ALL OF THE INFORMATION ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE ABOUT THROTTLE BODY PROBLEMS FOR THIS CAR AS WELL AS INFORMATION IN OTHER FORUMS. IT WAS A GOOD THING AS I WAS PREPARED FOR WHAT HAPPENED TODAY. I HAD JUST LEFT MY HOUSE WHEN THE DREADED (AND EXPECTED) LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WITH THE WRENCH LIGHT BEING ILLUMINATED. I EXPERIENCED THE SAME SYMPTOMS REPORTED BY SO MANY COMPLAINTS LOGGED FOR THIS ISSUE: LOSS OF POWER, ROUGH IDLE, JUST ENOUGH POWER TO BARELY MOVE THE CAR, CERTAINLY NOT ENOUGH TO LIMP ANYWHERE, MUCH LESS HOME, EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS IN "LIMP HOME" MODE. I HAD MY CODE SCANNER WITH ME AND WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE THE P2111 (THROTTLE STUCK OPEN) CODE BEFORE I RESTARTED THE CAR TO RESTORE FULL POWER. THIS ONLY WORKED ENOUGH TO GET THE CAR TURNED AROUND WHEN LIMP HOME WAS TRIGGERED AGAIN. I RESTARTED AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO GET WITHIN A BLOCK OF MY HOUSE WHEN LIMP HOME TRIGGERED ONCE MORE. THE THIRD TIME I WAS ABLE TO GET TO MY HOUSE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO GET MY CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AFTER VERIFYING THAT THEY HAD A THROTTLE BODY IN STOCK. THE CAR WAS TOWED THERE AND A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED. THIS IS NOT A CASE OF IF THE FAILURE WILL HAPPEN, BUT RATHER WHEN. I WAS FULLY EXPECTING IT ANY DAY AND SURE ENOUGH, IT HAPPENED. I WAS EXTREMELY FORTUNATE AS I WAS LESS THAN A MILE FROM HOME, KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT AND HOW TO DEAL WITH IT, AND MY CAR WAS STILL IN WARRANTY, BUT ONLY BY 1,806 MILES! ANY OTHER SITUATION WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN ME BEING IN A VERY DANGEROUS PREDICAMENT WITH A CAR THAT WAS BASICALLY DEAD IN THE WATER. I WAS ALMOST TO THE POINT OF PURCHASING A NEW THROTTLE BODY ON MY OWN IN THE INTEREST OF BEING PROACTIVE RATHER THAN BEING STRANDED. *TR
THE ENGINE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY APPEARED. THE SPEED OF THE CAR WENT FROM 45 MPH TO 0 IN AN INSTANT. THEN THE ENTIRE CAR POWERED OFF. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AS THIS HAPPENED AND NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL. I TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN WITH KEYS IN IGNITION. STARTED TO DRIVE AND THE SAME SERIES OF EVENTS HAPPENED AGAIN AND MY CAR COMPLETELY POWERED OFF. I GOT MY CAR TOWED TO FORD MALCOLM CUNNINGHAM ON 8/26/13. THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT CAUSED THE ISSUES. I PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY CAR WHICH ONLY COVERED THE ACTUAL PART AND NOT THE LABOR TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE REP, [XXX], SAID THAT THEY RECOMMENDED I ALSO FLUSH THE ENGINE BECAUSE THEY HAVE SEEN THIS IS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. SHE ALSO SAID THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FUSIONS AND ESCAPES, AS SHE HAD ANOTHER PERSON IN THERE FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON AN ESCAPE. FORD NEEDS TO REALIZE THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND ISSUE A RECALL ASAP! I CANNOT BELIEVE MY CAR IS PRACTICALLY NEW AND I'M OUT OF POCKET $400, WHILE FORD DOESN'T TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY. I WAS DRIVING WITH MY DAUGHTERS IN THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A 3 LANE HIGHWAY. I WAS TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT, AT OR AROUND 55 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WENT LIMP. THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO COAST. A WRENCH LIGHT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. WITH NO ABILITY TO SPEED UP, I HAD TO NAVIGATE THROUGH TWO LANES OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC WITH A PARALYZED CAR TO GET ME AND MY CHILDREN TO SAFETY. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO DO SO. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN VERY OFTEN, AND THAT UNFORTUNATELY, THIS REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN. THEY ORDERED AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. UPON INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE ONLINE, I WAS SHOCKED TO DISCOVER THAT THIS PROBLEM IS SO PREVALENT. THE FACT THAT FORD IS COVERING THIS UP AND PUSHING THE COSTS ON TO ITS CUSTOMERS IS FRUSTRATING (MORE THAN $1300 IN MY CASE), BUT THE FACT THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO RISK THE LIVES OF THESE VERY SAME CUSTOMERS IS DOWNRIGHT DISTURBING. THERE SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL ON ALL THE CARS AFFECTED BY THIS THROTTLE BODY ISSUE, AS WELL AS A FULL REIMBURSEMENT FOR ALL THOSE WHO HAVE HAD TO SUFFER THROUGH THIS ALREADY. *TR

INSURANCE BELIEVES IT IS A WARRANTY CLAIM AS THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY; FORD WILL NOT HONOR THIS AS A WARRANTY CLAIM. NO ONE AT FORD HAS BEEN ABLE TO GIVE ME A COST FOR REPAIRS ALREADY ATTEMPTED OR FOR FURTHER REPAIRS TO MAKE THE CAR WORK NORMALLY AGAIN. I FEEL THERE IS A DEEPER ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE CAR, BUT FORD IS CLAIMING THERE IS NOTHING IN THE CAR THAT COULD SUPPLY THIS KIND OF ELECTRICITY TO FRY SEVERAL MODULES, FUSES, AND LIGHT BULBS. NO ACCELERATION AT ALL. FINALLY GOT CAR OFF OF STATE HIGHWAY. CAR NEVER COMPLETELY DIED, JUST ABSOLUTELY NO ACCELERATION, THROTTLE BODY SENSOR BAD! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! HAD I BEEN GOING FASTER AND VEHICLES BEHIND ME, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. COST $580 TO REPAIR ON A 2011 CAR! MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER CAR WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, IT REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SHE TURNED IT OFF, THEN RESTARTED IT. SHE DROVE HOME WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. THIS WAS JUNE 1ST. IT HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIME THROUGH JUNE AND JULY AND WE HAD A COMPETENT MECHANIC CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AFTER THE CODE HE SCANNED SAID THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK CLOSED/STUCK OPEN. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ON THE WAY HOME FROM DINNER WITH MY FAMILY ON AUGUST 3, WE MADE A TURN ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, CAR LOST POWER, AND WE WERE ESSENTIALLY DEAD IN THE WATER WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE VEHICLE COMING DOWN THE LANE HAPPENED TO SEE US IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. HAD THEY NOT BRAKED, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN T-BONED. IT HAPPENED THE NEXT DAY ON THE INTERSTATE. NOT VERY CONFIDENCE INSPIRING TO TRAVEL AT 70MPH, THEN HAVE YOUR CAR NOT GO OVER 900 RPM. LOOK FOR A SHOULDER VERY QUICKLY. IN ALL INSTANCES, CAR GOES TO REDUCED ENGINE POWER (WHICH LIMITS IT TO 900 RPM). AT A STOP LIGHT, THE IDLE IS VERY ERRATIC GOING FROM 1000 RPM DOWN TO ABOUT 400. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE, ENGINE BEGAN TO LOOSE POWER AND AS MY SPEED DECREASED I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND THOUGH ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING AND INTERMITTENTLY COUGHED OR VIBRATED, I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. DURING SLOW DOWN, DASH WARNING LIGHTS DISPLAYED A WRENCH AND ALSO POSSIBLY A WIGGLY LINE SYMBOLS. WHILE DRIVING BEFORE TROUBLE STARTED I ATTEMPTED TO CUT BACK MY SPEED BY PRESSING THE MINUS SET BUTTON ON THE CRUISE CONTROL SEVERAL TIMES, BUT NOT CONSECUTIVELY. INCIDENT OCCURRED SHORTLY AFTER I DECREASED MY SPEED WITH ABOVE ACTION. THIS INCIDENT LEFT US IN A DANGEROUS SPOT IN THE BREAKDOWN LANE WHILE HIGH SPEED HEAVY TRAFFIC PASSED CLOSE BY UNABATED. FOLLOWING COMPUTER ANALYSIS FORD DEALER REPLACED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. WHEN I GOOGLED ABOVE FORD PART I DISCOVERED A GROWING HISTORY OF ABOVE TROUBLE BUT SO FAR, NO RECALL ISSUED TO DATE. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE; FORD AND THEIR DEALERS SHOULD HAVE THIS PART AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY. DOES SOMEONE NEED TO HAVE A SERIOUS OR DEADLY ACCIDENT BEFORE ACTION IS TAKEN? *TR
ORIGINAL INCIDENT OCCURRED IN JUNE 2011. VEHICLE LOST ALL ACCELERATION UNEXPECTEDLY AND WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE WAS ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD AND THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. HAS SUBSEQUENTLY HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES. THE SECOND TIME THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THE THIRD TIME WAS JULY 2013. AGAIN VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. ADVISED THAT IT WAS AGAIN A FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BOTTLE. PART ALONE WILL BE $400 TO REPLACE AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR 10 DAYS TO 3 WEEKS. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD THROTTLE BOTTLE ON A CAR THAT IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. THE FAILURE POSES A SEVERE SAFETY RISK IF OCCURS ON HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY WHILE IN MIDDLE OR LEFT LANES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 FORD FUSION S WITH A V4 ENGINE ON 07/03/2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 19:15 IN THE EVENING. I WAS TRAVELING ON A SLIGHT INCLINE ON A TWO-LANE ROAD AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 50 M.P.H. WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE CAR STALLED AND WOULD NOT LONGER ACCELERATE. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE SHIFTING DOWN. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THEN TURNED IT ON AGAIN. I DROVE TO MY DESTINATION 2 HOURS AWAY WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. I DROVE THE CAR A SECOND TIME AND THE INCIDENT DID NOT RECUR. THE THIRD TIME I DROVE THE CAR AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN, WHICH WAS ON 07/05/2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 17:00. IT OCCURRED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSTATE AND I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BY CUTTING ACROSS TRAFFIC WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE!!! I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY THROTTLE CONTROL. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 36,000 MILES (MY CAR HAS 38000 MILES). THIS IS A SERIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE READ THAT 2010 FORD FUSIONS ALSO HAVE A HISTORY OF THE SAME PROBLEM AT ABOUT 2-3 YEARS AFTER PURCHASE. I AM GRATEFUL TO HAVE AVOIDED A CRASH, BUT ONE COULD EASILY FIND THEMSELVES IN A SITUATION WHERE THEY CANNOT ACCELERATE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND END UP SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DEAD BECAUSE OF A CRASH THAT IT COULD CAUSE. I FOUND OUT THAT THE NHTSA STARTED AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS ISSUE IN FEBRUARY 2013 AND FORD IS AWARE OF THE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM. I WAS LUCKY NO TRUCK WAS BEHIND ME SINCE MY CAR SLOWED QUICKLY AND SUDDENLY WITH NO WARNING. THE INTERNET IS FILLED WITH COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE. PROBLEM CAME BACK 5 DAYS LATER. AT INTERSECTION LIGHT CHANGE GREEN CAR DID SAME THING, STUCK IN MIDDLE ON INTERSECTION. PUT IN PARK AND RESTART WAS HARD TO START. CAR BUCKED THEN COMPLETELY DIED (IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET)! LIGHTS THAT CAME ON: STOP SAFELY NOW, WRENCH, ENGINE, TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION POINT. TOOK A FEW TIMES TO START BACK UP. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE A CODE BUT DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. A FEW DAYS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION! ( SAME CODES) BROUGHT IT TO DEALER AGAIN, THIS TIME APPARENTLY THEY FOUND THE CODE. THE DEALER SAID GAS WAS GOING IN THE WRONG PLACE AND REPLACED A VALVE. IT HAS SINCE HAPPENED MORE THAN FIVE TIMES, ALL HAPPENING AT LESS THAN 5 MPH WHEN STARTING AFTER A STOP. CURRENTLY WITH ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP (GIVEN THE PREVIOUS ONE CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD BUT CLAIMED IT WAS ALREADY THERE, NOT TO MENTION THE POOR SERVICE TO THE CAR). THIS LATEST INCIDENT WE HAD THE CAR TOWED. THIS WAS AT THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE FORD REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE WHO HAS BEEN EXTREMELY HELPFUL. (BY THE WAY, THIS FUSION IS A HYBRID.) AT SOMETIME, AFTER CAR WAS SHUT OFF, THE DRIVER, PASSENGER WINDOWS AND SUN ROOF OPENED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES. *TR
THIS HAPPENED SOMETIME BACK, HOWEVER IT COULD BE RELATED TO YOUR CURRENT INVESTIGATIONS. WHEN I HAD APPROX 1900 MILES ON THE CAR AND WHILE I WAS GOING AROUND 70 MPH, THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND I LOST ALL THROTTLE CONTROL. AFTER NEARLY GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND FROM A TRUCK (CAUSE I LOST SPEED), I MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO SAFETY AND SAW I HAD NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON TO FIND IT OUT IT WOULDN'T START. SO I TURNED IT OFF ONCE AGAIN, WAITED 20 OR SO SECONDS, AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND PROCEEDED TO WORK. LATER ON THAT NIGHT, I PULLED THE CODES OFF THE SYSTEM AND KEPT THEM AS PICTURES (P2104 AND P2112) JUST IN CASE THE CODES CLEARED (COLD CYCLE). SURE ENOUGH I GO TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY, NO CODES FOUND AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY (FORD) CAN DO. I SHOWED THEM THE PICTURES, HOWEVER I WAS STILL TURNED AWAY. LATER ON AT AROUND 7500 MILES, THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AND THIS TIME I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE DEALER TO RUN THE CODES. THEY PERFORMED TSB 11-4-23 ON THE ENGINE THROTTLE BODY AND ECU, AND INSTALLED A NEW WIRING HARNESS. LITTLE DID I KNOW AT THE TIME, BUT THIS STATES THAT UNDER RARE CONDITIONS THE ENGINE WILL EMIT THOSE CODES WHILE THE WIPERS ARE ON. *TR
I HAVE NOW TWICE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE NEWS ARTICLES FROM THIS DATE REGARDING ENGINE STALL. THE FIRST OCCASION, THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN IT SUDDENLY STALLED. THE SECOND OCCASION WAS WHILE I WAS TRYING TO ENTER A FREEWAY AT BETWEEN 50-55 MPH. AFTER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF FOR A MINUTE, THE VEHICLE STARTED WORKING AGAIN PROPERLY. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS 2011 FORD FUSION AT 40,000 MILES AND SINCE IT HAS BEEN AT 45,000 MILES I BEEN HAVING STALLING AND IDLE PROBLEMS . I THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY UNTIL I SEEN AN ARTICLE IN THE NEWS TODAY . TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING AND TRACTION WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. UPON RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND WAS LATER TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,625 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,708. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE FAN BLOWER TO THE AIR CONDITION FAILED TO WORK AFTER A SHORT PARK. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE WIRE AND RESISTER HAD BURNED,DID NOT KNOW WHICH HAPPENED FIRST. I WAS TOLD IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE SO THE PARTS WERE DISCONNECTED. UNTIL NEW PARTS WERE INSTALLED. MY CONCERN IS THIS VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE AND THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM . CONSUMER STATES SAFETY ISSUES WITH VEHICLE RELATED TO DRIVER CONTROLS AND DISTRACTIONS, BATTERY FAILURE AND LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING CAPABILITY *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THE STEERING WAS ABOUT TO FREEZE WHILE DRIVING. I AM AFRAID BECAUSE AS SOON AS I LEAVE THE GARAGE I HAVE TROUBLE SEEING THE RED NEEDLE THAT SHOULD BE TELLING ME HOW FAST I AM GOING. IN THE GARAGE, I SEE THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE EASILY. THE FEW TIMES I HAVE DRIVEN AT NIGHT (AT AGE 90, I TRY TO AVOID NIGHT DRIVING) I COULD SEE IT QUITE WELL. BUT IN ANY DAYLIGHT THE BIG NEEDLE TENDS TO DISAPPEAR, AND ON BRIGHT SUNLIT DAYS I USUALLY CANNOT SEE IT AT ALL IN THE FRACTION OF A SECOND I TAKE MY EYES OFF THE ROAD TO LOOK DOWN AT THE DASHBOARD. CURIOUSLY, THE SMALLER NEEDLE ON THE RIGHT THAT TELLS ME THE TEMPERATURE OF THE RADIATOR FLUID SHOWS UP BETTER THAN THE -- MUCH MORE IMPORTANT -- LARGE NEEDLE THAT SHOULD TELL ME THE SPEED. THE ORDER WRITER AT MY DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO EXCEPT TURN UP THE DIAL THAT CONTROLS BRIGHTNESS OF THE NEEDLES WHICH HAVE, HE SAYS, LIGHTS INSIDE THEM. I HAD ALREADY DONE THAT. IN MY JUDGMENT, A WHITE NEEDLE WOULD SHOW UP BETTER THAN THE RED ONE. CAN ANYTHING BE DONE TO MAKE MY DRIVING SAFER? THE WINDOWS AND SUN ROOF ON MY FORD FUSION 2011 OPENS ON THEIR OWN WHEN NO ONE IS AROUND THE CAR. MY CAR WAS 200 MILES AWAY FROM ME AND FRIEND FOUND WINDOWS AND SUNROOF OPENED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CONNECT A BATTERY DISCONNECT HOWEVER, WHEN THE BATTERY DISCONNECT WAS ADDED, THE VEHICLE BEING TOWED HAD NO AUXILIARY BRAKES. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO DISCONNECT SOME FUSES UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE BUT DUE TO THE CONTACT'S PHYSICAL CONDITION IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE.
