Your rear backup camera frequently malfunctions, showing a green screen, black screen, or reversed/distorted image when you're backing up. Additionally, your window control buttons are intermittent and don't always respond when pressed. Most concerning, your rear seatbelts aren't clicking into place properly, which is a safety issue if you have children in the backseat. Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 106,796. It was later discovered that the mileage on the Title was 160,412; however, it was discovered that the mileage was 203,912.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse into a parking spot, the rearview camera was intermittently inoperative. The failure had occurred on several occasions. No warning lights were illuminated; however, the message "Contact the Dealer" was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the rearview camera needed to be replaced. The dealer made the contact aware of an unknown NHTSA Campaign Number; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in a recall related to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

Finally they have a recall on the backup camera but my 2013 Explorer was not included. My camera is doing the same thing, inverted. Sometimes a black screen. Can I go and get mine fixed without paying and be included in the recall also.
MY rear back up camera display does not work all the time. When I put my car in reverse and the rear camera displays the screen will go black and an error messages appears on the screen. This has been an issue since I purchased the car in 2021.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while it was raining, water was leaking into the vehicle through the front windshield. While making a turn, water entered the vehicle, and the front seat passenger became wet. The seat was damaged by the water. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact ordered a power window switch online. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V031000 (Structure); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
2011-2013 Ford Explorers have a issue with Rear Camera ground wires. Once the wire defaults the camera will not work and display ( contact ford dealer) Or the image with me flipped. Causing right side objected to be projected on left side. Ford does not have a remedy for this and new cameras installed only temporary work then same issues occurs due to wiring.
For the past year, when I place the car in reverse the backup camera shows a reverse image. Items on the left appear on the camera as being on the right, and visa-versa. The first time it occurred I backed into a ditch. This occurs nine out of ten times. The hazard to pedestrians and chance of an accident is substantially increased. I contacted the local Ford dealer who showed no interest in my complaint, other that stating I would pay for the camera replacement, including labor. I noted that Ford Explorers were already recalled for rear camera problems. They stated that was for a different problem.
Power steering I look it up and see a recall for my cars year but it’s not covering my car why ?? This is exactly what’s going on with my car my car has no power steering light on either when I turn it is hard ! Very unsafe as I have young children
The heat in my 2013 Ford Explorer won't work. The Rad fan isn't working so any antifreeze I put in is gone after 1 trip to the store. It's burning it. The sunroof has never opened fully, it wobbles. The electrical is shot on it. There are so many safety issues with this vehicle and I see I'm not the only one but yet I search my Vin and there are no recalls that's not right
When I was driving suddenly vehicle shakes and gas/acceleration paddle stopped working middle of the road. I pulled my car side of the road, put it in park and turn off vehicle and start it back on gas/acceleration paddle work again. Problem is this happened several times last few weeks.

Due to trim panel recall, trim came off and while driving and now water leaks in windshield when it rains. Leaking water dripped on to climate control panel and caused it to stop working. Now I can’t control heat or AC in car and it continues to leak when it rains
Both the rear door lock actuators on my 2013 Ford Explorer broke within a month of each other. I am aware of actuator recalls on different Ford vehicles and I believe these broke for the same reasons as the other Ford actuators were recalled.
Unknown what caused the issue but our vehicle erupted into flames in our driveway not 10 minutes after we pulled in. No warnings, no indication anything was wrong. We smelled smoke and went outside to find the hood completely engulfed. It took fire department to extinguish it. They’re not certain of cause yet but said likely an electrical short
The rear camera intermittently goes black and there is nothing on the screen except an error warning. We have experienced this problem for a couple years however it is becoming more frequent.
The whole Front control interface module has gone out along with some functions of the APM. Just stopped all of a sudden. Turned key on and nothing worked. The airbag light has come on saying solid color. The rear tailgate will not open with the electronic power buttons. This all went out at one time. Is confirmed to be the FCIM and AMP. Is a safety hazard due to airbags, not known if will work and the inability to open rear tailgate. Other failures are climate control. Is stuck on high heat defrost in middle of Wisconsin summer, but not a real safety issue but very inconvenient.
The back up camera image is reversed. What is on the left appears to be on the right and vice versa. The back up lines have also disappeared. Occasionally, it works properly, but most of the time it doesn't.
The camera system should have been apart of the recall. None of the electronics work in the console area. The backup camera goes black often and stops working.

The sunroof motor burned out due to water intrusion from clogged drains. Water also pooled in the passenger side floorboard and soaked the carpet from faulty drains. Cracks in the manufacturer's seam sealer at welds cracked at the back tailgate and leaked all down into the carpet and floorboard below the cargo area. This is a huge issue for those of us to are extremely sensitive to mold and mildew. It can also cause severe corrosion to other components of the car. I have reported it to the company and the dealer and they say that it is not their issue. In fact, they accused me of trying to weld or caulk the cracks. The vehicle has been inspected by Ford mechanics. There were no warnings of any kind. I discovered the burnt sunroof motor due to the sunroof not closing. Had to scramble to find someone to remedy the problem. I've investigated these issues and there are several customers with these exact same problems on Ford vehicles from 2011 - 2019. There should be several recalls concerning these issues.
I have been going through multiple sites trying to figure out what is going on with my car. I have only had my vehicle for less than a year and I barely even gotten to drive it. I'm now realizing every recall on the vehicle which there was like 13 has not been repaired. And I also have 4 different numbers for the odometer when I when I bought the vehicle at a 177000 but everything is reading at a 169000. I also purchased the vehicle in June not July like the title says. Also one of the titles said plate's not allowed. When I looked it up I believe this is a fleet vehicle and it does not say that anywhere on my title or in my paperwork. It did come from Canada. Is there any way you could possibly help me out with any of this? Also I had broken fuses and missing fuses. I had the 4 dealership look at it and a mechanic look at it and they both told me it looked like someone messed around with the wiring in my car.
Vehicle will continue to run after key is in off position and removed. Vehicle can be driven with no key in the ignition. Also said starting system fault after battery was disonnected and reconnected.
WATER LEAKING FROM HEADLINER ONTO THE RADIO/CD PLAYER CAUSING IT TO SHORT OUT. SEATS & FLOOR RUG GETS FLOODED EVERY TIME IT RAINS. IS THERE A RECALL FOR WATER LEAKING INTO THE CAR EVERY TIME IT RAINS. THIS 2013 EXPLORER DOESN'T HAVE A SUNROOF BY THE WAY. MY EXPLORER HAS BEEN PARKED FOR A FEW DAYS, AFTER OPENING THE PASSENGER SIDE, I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A LARGE PUDDLE OF WATER SITTING THERE ON THE FLOOR LINEAR AND ON THE FLOORING ITSELF. I CHECKED THE MOON ROOF, IT WAS CLOSED, NO VISIBLE WATER SO THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE. I CHECKED THE SIDE DOOR AND SEALS, NO ISSUES. I NOTICED THAT WATER WAS FROM THE TOP PART OF THE PASSENGER SIDE INNER FOOTING AREA COMING DOWN SO I CHECKED THE WINDSHIELD AREA. AND AS ASSUMED, WATER WAS CREEPING IN FROM THE WINDSHIELD AREA DUE TO BAD CAULKING JOB/DEFECTIVE ENGINEERING CAUSING WATER (RAIN/SNOW, ETC) TO CREEP IN AND SOIL THE ELECTRICAL AREA AND THE FLOORING.

THE WATER IN SPARE TIRE WELL CAN CAUSE RUST AND SUBSEQUENT EXHAUST FUMES TO ENTER INTO CABIN.
LIGHTS AND PASSENGER DOOR AJAR STAY ON. LIGHTS DON'T TURN OFF WHEN BACKING UP OR UNTIL DRIVING FORWARD AT A CERTAIN SPEED. LOCKS UNLOCK BY THEMSELVES. LIGHTS WILL RANDOMLY TURN ON WHEN NO ONE IS BY THE CAR. HAVE 3 LITTLE KIDS NEED A CAR THAT SHOULD BE RELIABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR TO S AND STAY LOCKED OR TO SAFELY BACK UP WITH VISIBILITY BUT CAN'T BC THE LIGHTS STAY ON
FREQUENT FUME SMELLS COMING FROM THE EXHAUST. I DRIVE WITH MY BABIES AGES 3 AND 4. I'M AFRAID THIS WILL HAVE AN EFFECT ON THEIR HEALTH AS WELL AS MINE. SOMETIMES WE GET HEADACHES AND I FEEL IT'S FROM BEING IN THIS VEHICLE. ELECTRIC PROBLEMS WITH THE SUNROOF. NOT WORKING AND UNABLE TO CLOSE.

I HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL LID.IT NOW CHUGS AND SEEMS LIKE TRANSMISSION . WHEN IT RAINS WATER GETS IN CAR. WHICH GOES INTO OUR ELECTRICITY SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS SINCE TOWED FROM THE DEALER TO THE RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR LOCK/LATCH MECHANISMS FAILED SHOWING CAR DOOR IS AJAR WHEN DOOR IS ACTUALLY SHUT. DRIVER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILED AROUND 30,000 MILES AND PASSENGER LOCK ACTUATOR FAILED AROUND 135000 MILES. WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS OF CAR CANNOT BE TURNED OFF UNTIL SPEED REACHES APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH. THIS LEADS TO UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS AND LIMITS DRIVER VISIBILITY OUTSIDE OF CAR DUE TO GLARE.

THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING CONTINUES TO APPEAR AFTER DRIVER DOOR IS SHUT. ONCE THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND COMES TO A STOP, THE WARNING WILL AUDIBLY BEEP AND DISPLAY A MESSAGE TO SHIFT TO PARK, THUS DISTRACTING THE DRIVER. THE WARNING PREVENTS THE DOME LIGHTS WAS SHUTTING OFF UNTIL THE CAR IS IN MOTION. ALL OF WHICH IS A DRAIN ON THE CAR BATTERY. ISSUE APPEARS TO BE A FAULTY CAR DOOR SENSOR. I'VE CLEANED IT, BUT IT ONLY OFFERED A TEMPORARY FIX.
THIS DEALING WITH THE MY SYNC (MYFORD TOUCH) . THE SYSTEM WILL WILL CAUSE THE SCREEN TO GO BLACK,IT ALSO WILL CAUSE THE A/C & HEATER, NAVIGATION, AND RADIO TO STOP WORKING. THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. TO RESTORE THE SYSTEM YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER AND REBOOT THE SYSTEM BY TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE. I JUST RECIEVED A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM ALERT FOR FORD ON 5/25/2019. DEALER WILL NOT REPAIR BECAUSE THEY CLAM THAT THE PROGRAM HAS EXPIRED. BUT I CAN HAVE THE REPAIR DONE FOR THE COST $1200.00
THE BACK UP CAMERA JUST STARTED WORKING SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES WHEN WE GO IN REVERSE IT WILL COME ON THEN GO AWAY AND SAYS TO CONTACT DEALERSHIP. THIS ISSUE JUST STARTED.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT ENGINE SHUT OFF UNDER ALL DRIVING CONDITONS WHICH EXHIBITS A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN THE VEHICLE ABRUBTLY LOSES TOTAL POWER WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS RECENTLY BEEN AN ISSUE IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS WHILE MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH IN TRAFFIC. VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP ONCE THE IGNITION WAS TURNED COMPLETELY OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES TO START THE VEHICLE BACK UP. THIS SCENARIO OCCURRED ON THE FREEWAY, IN TOWN DRIVING AND WHILE STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT. CONTACTED LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND ALL THEY SAID WAS TO BRING IT IN. I HAD A MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT AND HE WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE ANY ENGINE CODES WHILE RUNNING AN ECU SCAN. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS NOTED ONLINE WITH OTHER FORD EXPLORER OWNERS WHO HAVE ATTRIBUTED IT TO A "TERRAIN MANAGEMENT" FAULT. THIS IS THE SAME DIAGNOSIS MY LOCAL MECHANIC CAME UP WITH. THIS RESULTS IN THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE TO RECEIVE A THROTTLE POSITION IN THE WIDE OPEN INDICATION CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING OPERATED IN OAHU, HAWAII. I AM CURRENTLY DEPLOYED TO THE MIDDLE EAST SO I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY WHILE THIS IS THE ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE TO THEM.

A SECOND DEALER (HALL FORD NEWPORT NEWS, (877) 398-2216, LOCATED AT 12896 JEFFERSON AVE, NEWPORT NEWS, VA 23608) DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER SHORT CIRCUITED THE SWITCHES AND THE SUN ROOF MOTOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING ALMOST CAUSING A ACCIDENT WAS ABLE TO PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS AND SOME RECALLED BUT NOT ALL. THIS RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. CITY STREET. I CAN'T IMAGINE BEING ON A FREEWAY IN PHOENIX WHEN THIS HAPPENED.

I HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING LOSS. AT LOW SPEED, I RECEIVED A POWER STEERING FAULT AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING IN THE VEHICLE WHILE MAKING A TURN. LUCKILY I WAS NOT DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED WITH FAMILY IN CAR.
I HAVE A DOOR AJAR LIGHT THAT WILL NOT TURN OFF FIRST IT WAS JUST THE DRIVER SIDE NOW IT IS AFFECTING BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN IN MOTION AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF.

I WAS THAT THE HARNESS OVER TIME GETS MOISTURE IN IT AND HAD TO GREASE TO KEEP IT FROM HAPPENING. HE SAID IT WILL BE OVER $1000 TO GET IT FIX WITH THE SYMPTOMS I PROVIDED HIM. ON LONG STRAIGHT TRIP AT A STEAD SPEED THE LIGHT DO NOT GO OUT, BUT DRIVING AROUND TOWN IT HAPPENS NOW ON A REGULAR.

RECEIVED WARNING LIGHT WHEN I STARTED MY CAR WHICH WOULD STAY ON WHILE DRIVING WHICH WAS DIAGNOSED AS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. IT WAS CAUSED BY BATTERY ACID LEAKING WHICH REQUIRED THAT I PAY OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THE BATTERY HARNESS REPLACED. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE PROBLEM COULD HAVE CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WOULD HAVE GONE OUT COMPLETELY, IN TIME.
MY EXPLORER HAS AN ISSUE WHEN STOPPED AND IN DRIVE WITH THE AC ON THE CAR PULLS/LUNGES FOWARD AS IF I HIT THE GAS/ ALSO WHEN IM PARKED AND THE AIR CON IS RUNNING AT SOME POINT THE ENGINE GOES DOWN BELOW 500 RPMS THEN KICKS UP TO 700 TO COMPENSATE THEN KICKS DOWN TO BELOW 500 , OVER AND OVER AGAIN. IF REV THE ENGINE A BIT, THEN IT GOES BACK DOWN TO NORMAL IDLE AND ITS FINE FOR MAYBE 10 MINUTES THEN DOES IT ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE CAR PULLS ITSELF FOWARD WITH NO HUMAN INTERACTION. THERE IS MULTIPLE WEBSITES DECLARING THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS CAR. THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT IN THE SECOND ROW REFUSED TO LATCH WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER OUR WARRANTY. THE SUN/MOON ROOF HAS LEAKED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS CAUSING ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR REPAIRS. THE REPAIR SHOP INDICATED THAT WE SHOULD BLOW AIR INTO THE TUBES TO KEEP THEM CLEAR EVEN THOUGH WE ALWAYS PARK IN THE GARAGE AND AT WORK THERE ARE NO TREES AROUND THE PARKING LOT TO HAVE ANYTHING BE ABLE TO GET INTO THE DRAIN TUBES. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL VEHICLES WITH SUN ROOFS AND NEVER HAD THEM LEAK OR NEED TO BE BLOWN OUT EVEN WHEN THEY WERE STORED 100%V OUTSIDE. AGAIN NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH WE HAD LESS THAN 40K MILES AND A FORD CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WARRANTY. THIS IS A BAD DESIGN AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE SUN ROOF WAS STUCK OPEN ON 3 OCCASIONS. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW TRIM PILLAR FLEW OFF WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE IT REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT IS NOW COMING LOOSE AGAIN AND I DO NOT EXPECT IT TO LAST MUCH LONGER WITH HOW LOOSE IT IS. IT IS A DANGER TO ANYONE DRIVING BEHIND ME AS IT COULD FLY OFF AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A BAD DESIGN AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AS WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIRS, THEY ACKNOWLEDGED A SERVICE BULLETIN IS AVAILABLE ABOUT THE PROBLEM. I FOUND CRACKS IN THE DOOR JAM OF THE REAR LIFTGATE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. FOLLOWING THIS DISCOVERY I FOUND FLOOR BOARDS SOAKED IN WATER, WATER DRIPPING DOWN MY 3RD ROW SEAT BELT ONTO THE FLOOR BOARDS AND INTO THE SPARE TIRE WELL. FOLLOWING THIS MY MOONROOF QUIT WORKING. THEN I RECEIVED A LETTER REGARDING EMISSIONS ENTERING THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE AND CAUSING PEOPLE TO PASS OUT AND WRECK THEIR VEHICLES. TOOK THE CAR TO FORD AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP WON'T COVER THE CRACKS IN THE NON WRECKED VEHICLE UNDER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY STATE THEY ARE UNRELATED. IF WATER IS GETTING INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR THROUGH A CRACK THEN EMISSIONS PROBABLY ARE TOO.
DRIVER DOOR AJAR SENSOR REMAINS ON EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED, EVEN ON REPEAT ATTEMPTS TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THIS CAUSES THE DOORS NOT TO LOCK AND ALLOWS DOORS TO BE OPENED EVEN WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION.
KEYPAD FAILED. 16 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WAS ACCIDENTALLY LOCKED IN STATIONARY CAR WHILE KEYS REMAINED INSIDE. THE KEYPAD, WHICH WORKED PREVIOUSLY, FAILED TO WORK. THE SITUATION WAS SO DIRE (AS IT WAS OVER 90 DEGREES THAT DAY) THAT POLICE WERE CALLED TO BREAK THE WINDOW. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR EXAMINATION AND DETERMINED THAT THE KEYPAD DID IN FACT NEED TO BE REPLACED. HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AS THE CAR CANNOT BE UNLOCKED IF ACCIDENTALLY LOCKED WITH KEYS REMAINING INSIDE. KEYPAD IS THE ONLY OPTION...WE WERE IN DISBELIEF THAT IT FAILED AND WANT OTHER FORD EXPLORER OWNERS TO BE MADE AWARE OF A POSSIBLE KEYPAD FAILURE ISSUE SO THAT THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE.

FORD MOTORCRAFT BATTERY (OVERCHARGE OR POSSIBLE LEAKING BATTERY) CAUSED EXTENSIVE CORROSION TO BATTERY TERMINAL AS WELL AS BATTERY CABLES AND HOUSING. READ ONLINE AND THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH FORD VEHICLES. NOT ONLY DID THE BATTERY NEED TO BE REPLACED BUT THE CABLES AND HOUSING DID AS WELL. VEHICLE IS LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED IMAGE TO SEE EXTENT OF CORROSION. THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN AFTER THE TERMINAL WAS SEMI-CLEANED IN ORDER TO JUMP THE BATTERY. BECAUSE OF THIS EXTENSIVE CORROSION, CABLES WERE SO CORRODED IT WOULD NOT MAKE A GOOD CONTACT WITH NEW BATTERY. AS I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER, THE CAR KEPT LOSING POWER AS THE BATTERY WAS CONTINUALLY DISCONNECTING. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY HAPPENED TO SOMEONE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF BATTERY TERMINAL CORROSION. THERE WAS ZERO CORROSION ON THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL. THE POSITIVE TERMINAL IS THE PROBLEM.
DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH WILL NOT MOVE. DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE. DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON.

FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS THE DRIVERS DOOR IS SAYING IT IS OPEN WHEN IT IS SHUT. THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON WHICH MAKES IT HARD TO SEE AT NIGHT. THE DOORS WILL ALSO NOT LOCK. THAT IS VERY UNSAFE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN IN THE BACK WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THEY CAN EASILY OPEN THE DOOR AND POSSIBLE FALL OUT. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE FOR FORD OWNERS. FORD SHOULD REALLY DO A RECALL ON THIS VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITHIN THE PAST 3 WEEKS, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PUT OUR VEHICLE INTO "PARK" WE RECEIVED A WARNING LIGHT THAT WE NEEDED TO "SHIFT TO PARK", EXCEPT THE SHIFTER WAS PLACED IN THE PARK POSITION EVERY TIME; THIS OCCURRED TO BOTH MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF. I WAS AFRAID THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STAY IN PARK ON HILLS OR SLOPES IN PARKING LOTS AND IN MY SLOPED DRIVEWAY WHERE THERE ARE LOTS OF SMALL CHILDREN PLAYING AND RIDING BIKES BECAUSE OF THIS WARNING AND WOULD ROLL AWAY KILLING SOMEONE. RECENTLY, OUR EXPLORER WOULD NOT START, OUR KEY FOBS WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS; I WAS STRANDED. THIS LAST TIME ON AUGUST 24, 2015 I CONTACTED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW IT TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. TURNS OUT THE SHIFTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND AS A RESULT IT DRAINED THE BATTERY. IT COST ME $672.39 TO REPLACE THE SHIFTER AND THE BATTERY; WHICH IS A LOT OF MONEY WHEN YOUR OUT OF WORK/RETIRED WITH HEALTH ISSUES. I ALSO KEPT THE OLD PART FOR EVIDENCE. I TALKED TO ANOTHER FORD EXPLORER OWNER WHO ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND TO DATE THERE IS NO RECALL I SUPPOSE BECAUSE NO ONE IS DEAD, YET.
AS I WAS DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND THREE BOYS IN A HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE LIGHT TURN ON AND THE VEHICLE CHOKE AND TURN OFF, THE CAR THAT WAS COMING IN BACK OFF ME NEARLY HIT ME CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THE CAR IN BACK OF ME SWONG TO THE LEFT NEARLY HITTING THE CAR COMING ON THE LEFT AND MY VEHICLE, MY HEART STARTED PUMPING FAST KNOWING WHAT COULD HAD HAPPENED. THIS SITUATION GOT ME THINKING NOT TO THRUST FORD VEHICLES. I CAN'T RISK PUTTING MY FAMILY LIFE IN DANGER BECAUSE OF A FAIRLY NEW VEHICLE. THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING ON A TWO AND HALF YEAR OLD CAR. I TOOK IT TO GET DIGNOSTIC TEST AND IT CAME OUT THAT THE THROTTLE BODY AND PULGE VALVE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. FORD SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLE IMMIDIATELY.

I PURCHASED MY 2013 FORD EXPLORER TWO YEARS AGO. IT HAS APPROXIMATELY 16,000 MILES. ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2014 I COULDN'T START MY CAR. I HAD THE AUTO CLUB JUMP THE BATTERY AND THEN TOOK IT IN IMMEDIATELY TO MY MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. UPON EXAMINATION, HE DETERMINED THAT THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL HAD EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND THE CORROSION WAS SO BAD THAT THE BATTERY CLAMP HAD TOTALLY ERODED. THIS REQUIRED NOT ONLY REPLACEMENT OF THE BATTERY BUT THE BATTERY CABLES. THE MECHANIC EXPLAINED THAT THE ENTIRE CABLING MECHANISM WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $400 AND THAT THE LABOR WOULD BE EXTENSIVE BECAUSE OF THE WAY FORD ENGINEERED THE CONNECTION. (THE MECHANIC HAD TO DISASSEMBLE VARIOUS COMPONENTS IN THE ENGINE AREA TO MAKE THE CONNECTION). THE ENTIRE COST OF REPLACING THE BATTERY WAS OVER $1,000. ALSO, I WAS INFORMED THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE MECHANIC ALSO TOLD ME HE BECAME AWARE OF OTHERS WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IN ONE CASE THE BATTERY EXPLODED. THANKFULLY THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN IN MY CASE. I'VE HAD SEVERAL EXPLORERS OVER THE YEARS AS WELL AS OTHER MAKES AND MODELS AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A BATTERY THAT CORRODED TO THIS EXTENT AND CERTAINLY NOT IN A VEHICLE JUST 2 YEARS OLD. THE FIRST THING I NOTICED WAS THAT THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS SPUTTERING AND RUNNING ROUGHLY. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP LIGHT, IT RAN REALLY ROUGH AND JUST DIED. THEY KEPT IT FOR ALMOST 3 DAYS, COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND ONE OF THE SERVICE MANAGERS DROVE IT THE LAST DAY AND IT NEVER HAPPENED TO HIM SO PROBLEM WAS NOT FOUND. TODAY AS I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE GULF FREEWAY (I-45) SERVICE ROAD I SLOWED DOWN FOR A LIGHT, THE CAR SPUTTERED AND DIED WHILE SITTING AT THE LIGHT. THE CAR WAS HARD TO START UP AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT GOING AND TRYING TO DRIVE IT TO MCREE FORD WHERE I BOUGHT IT LAST SUMMER. IT STALLED AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. ALL PUBLISHED VEHICLE OWNER'S MANUALS/DOCUMENTATION CLEARLY STATE THAT THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN. FURTHER, THE VEHICLE HAS BUILT IN MECHANISMS TO SAFEGUARD AGAINST THIS SCENARIO WHICH ALSO FAILED. WITH THE KEYS IN THE VICINITY OF THE CAR, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TOUCH THE DOOR HANDLE TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE. NOTHING WE TRIED WOULD UNLOCK THE CAR. WE LIVE IN A HOT CLIMATE, SO THE CAR WAS WELL OVER 120 DEGREES. WE CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO BREAK IN (BROKEN WINDOW, AND DOOR). AFTER BRINGING THIS UP WITH FORD, THEY'VE DONE NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT, OR RESPONSIBILITY TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER, AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. AFTER ENTERING A HIGHWAY MY HORN HONKED AND THE MESSAGE "NO KEY DETECTED" APPEARED. THE VEHICLE NEVER DIED BUT THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER A DOZEN TIMES. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP, WHERE THE SAME CONCERN WAS DUPLICATED, AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS SOME SORT OF INTERFERENCE WITH THE RADIO FREQUENCY OF THE KEYS, THEY SAID THAT ANYTHING FROM PHONES TO CHARGES COULD CAUSE THIS AND THAT IT IS NORMAL AND I WOULD HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM HAS GONE "OFF ROUTE" WHILE DRIVING TO A DESTINATION. OFF ROUTE MEANS THE GPS IS STILL DISPLAYED BUT THE MARKER IS MOVED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROUTE ON THE MAP. THIS INDICATES TO THE SYSTEM THAT IT IS "OFF ROUTE" AND STARTS DISPLAYING MESSAGES AND ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS. THIS IS A SERIOUS DISTRACTION AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENTS BETWEEN TRYING TO WATCH FOR THE TRAFFIC SIGNS AND FOLLOW OR CORRECT THE RE-ROUTE. WHEN CONTACTING CORPORATE FORD, THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE; HOWEVER, WE ARE TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO TO CORRECT IT. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT IS AFFECTING A NUMBER OF THEIR VEHICLES AND THEY DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IT IS SERIOUS ENOUGH TO WARRANT A FIX AT THIS TIME. *TR
