Your vehicle had difficulty accelerating while merging onto the highway, which nearly caused an accident. A scan revealed 16 transmission error codes caused by a corroded electrical connector on the transmission. The connector corroded because water from your air conditioning drain leaked onto it. This loss of power during highway driving is a safety concern that requires repair of both the connector and the AC drain routing.

THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 73,950.9 MILES AND THE MECHANIC ADVISED IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE DATE BELOW IS AN ESTIMATED DATE. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR.

THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. IT IS STILL DOING IT AND WE WORREY THAT IT MAY CAUSE A SERIES ACCIDENT.

CAR WITH <THAN 60K MLS, NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT, TAKEN CARE OF. 01/31/2016 SUN WHILE DRIVING APPROX 10 MPH ON A SIDE STREET IT LOST POWER AND SHUTOFF WITHOUT WARNING. RESTARTED AFTER A FEW MIN. ON 02/01 MON 7:00 AM THE SAME HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX 45 MPH. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO STEER THE ROLLING CAR OFF TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER 15 MIN RESTARTED AND TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER. WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON. PROMISED TO HAVE IT READY IN 4 HRS. AT 4:00 PM HASN'T BEEN LOOKED AT YET. AT 6:00 PM IT WAS ALLEGEDLY LOOKED AT BY 2 TECHS AND DETERMINED IT'S A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND WE WERE NOW IN LINE FOR A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST WITH 14 CARS AHEAD OF US (BY ITSELF EVIDENCE THAT THERE IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE IN FORDS). ON THUR 02/04 (4TH DAY) GOT A CALL AT 6:PM THAT THERE IS A SHORT INSIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY WOULD ORDER THE PART AND HAVE IT FIXED THE NEXT DAY. $1,400 TO FIX. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OPENED A CASE AS TRANSMISSION COMPLAINTS ARE FREQUENT. WE WERE LUCKY THAT THERE WASN'T A SEMI BEHIND MY HUSBAND ON THE HIGHWAY ON MON. ON FRI 02/05 I'M TOLD THE PART WASN'T ORDERED ON THUR BECAUSE OF 4:00 PM CUTOFF. HE SAID IT WAS BEING ORDERED ON FRI AND FIXED ON SAT. ON SAT 02/06 I'M TOLD THEY NEVER HAVE TRANSMISSION MECHANICS WORKING ON SAT AND IT WILL BE FIXED ON MON. NOON ON MON I'M TOLD FORD OFFERS NO REMEDY FOR CARS OLDER THAN 6 YRS AND CASE CLOSED. STATUS OF REPAIR - HE WOULD CHECK IF THE PART CAME IN WHEN HE GETS BACK FROM LUNCH. A WEEK WITHOUT A CAR, NO INFORMATION, PART MAYBE ORDERED, CAR NOT FIXED AND FORD DOESN'T CARE IF WE DIE ON THE ROAD AND WE HAVE TO PAY FOR A FAULTY SOLENOID AND NON-REUSABLE PARTS THAT NEED TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO FIX THIS. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND THAT THE 02 SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE 02 SENSOR, HE NOTICED SEVERAL BARE WIRES. THE INSULATION ON THE WIRES HAD ROTTED AND FALLEN OFF THE SENSORS. AS A RESULT, THE WIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT PULLED DOWN THE TRANSMISSION WIRE HARNESS AND NOTICED THAT 15 WIRES WERE AFFECTED. ALSO, THE COOLING TEMPERATURE SENSOR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAD NOTICED THAT THE SHIFTER WAS REALLY LOOSE WHEN I FIRST GOT IN BUT THOUGHT PERHAPS IT WAS THAT WAY BEFORE BUT I JUST HADN'T NOTICED. GOT HOME AND HAD TO FORCE IT IN TO PARK AND THEN TRIED TO GO IN REVERSE OR DRIVE AGAIN AND HAD NOTHING.

IN 2/2014 WE REPLACED THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE MODULE. ON 3/25/2014 THE TRANSMISSION LOST REVERSE AND FIRST GEAR AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAD MY 2007 EXPLORER EDDIE BAUER 4.0L V6 ENGINE IN SERVICE TO REPLACE A NEW RADIATOR AND REPROGRAMMED PCM. PAID $1300. RADIATOR WAS LEAKING AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS TOO HARD AND HESITATES GOING INTO REVERSE WITH A LOUD BANG INTO GEAR. I REALLY LIKE MY CAR EXCEPT THAT IT JERKS FORWARD WHEN I AM SLOWING DOWN TO STOP. THIS OCCURS AS MY TRANSMISSION DOWN-SHIFTS FROM EITHER 3RD TO 2ND GEAR OR 2ND TO 1ST GEAR. IT IS A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM. IT LUNGES MY CAR FORWARD WHEN I AM BRAKING TO STOP. AFTER THEY REPROGRAMMED PCM AND IT RUNS FINE FOR ABOUT A WEEK THEN BACK TO THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD SHOULD RECALL THIS VEHICLE WITH RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I THINK WHEN RADIATOR WAS LEAKING THEN IT CAUSED TRANSMISSION TO FAIL BECAUSE ITS CONNECTING LINES BETWEEN RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL. IT IS SO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY WITH MY FAMILY AND CHILDREN TOO. I DON'T THINK IF IT WAS A PCM PROBLEM. IT IS A PHYSICAL DAMAGE INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED THROUGH A CERTIFIED FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE MY FATHER WORKS AND I HAD BOUGHT ALL MY PREVIOUS CARS IN APRIL 2012. IT ONLY HAD ONE PREVIOUS OWNER, NO MAJOR HISTORY AND WAS COMPLETELY UPGRADED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. I HAD IT COMPLETELY CHECKED OUT, HAD THE TRANNY FLUSHED, TWICE, AND ALL SEEMED OKAY. NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND WAS AVAILABLE DUE TO FORD POLICY... SUPPOSEDLY. I MOVED TO TEXAS IN JUNE OF 2012 AND IT DID OKAY. THEN ONE DAY, IN SEPTEMBER, I HAD MY HUSBAND AND CHILDREN IN THE SUV AND ALL OF SUDDEN IT JUST STARTED ACTING STRANGE, WOULDN'T SPEED UP, THE RPM'S WOULD GO CRAZY, THE NOISE SOUNDED HORRIBLE AND THEN IT JUST STOPPED MOVING. LUCKILY WE WERE JUST HEADING OUT OF TOWN AND NOT YET ON THE MAJOR HIGHWAY. WE GOT IT MOVED TO A SERVICE STATION AND HAD TO CALL OUR INSURANCE COMPANY TO TOW OUR VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. WE HAD TO WAIT MORE THAN AN HOUR FOR A RIDE HOME. WE WERE NOW WITHOUT A VEHICLE IN A NEW STATE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ONLY FIX WAS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I PUT $4000 DOWN ON THIS VEHICLE, FINANCED THE REST AND SPENT THE REST OF OUR SAVINGS TO MOVE FROM NE TO TX. I HAD NO EXTRA CASH TO SPEND $4000 TO FIX IT. I WAS TOLD TO LET THE BANK TAKE IT AND GET ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAD TO COME UP WITH $1000 DOWN AND GET A LOWER QUALITY VEHICLE AND HAVE THE BANK TAKE IT BACK. THEY SOLD IT AT AUCTION FOR ONLY $4000 SO WE STILL OWE $13000! I HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ONLY 5 MONTHS AND BECAUSE OF A FORD PROBLEM I OWE $13000?!?!?! THIS IS NOT RIGHT. 2007 FORD EXPLORER MAKING A LOUD ROARING SOUND UPON ACCELERATION. I FINALLY GOT IT TO DO IT AT THE DEALER. THE SERVICE MANAGER, LEAD TECH AND MYSELF WENT FOR A RIDE. THEY AGREED THAT THE FAN CLUTCH WAS LOCKING UP AND FELT THAT A SIMPLE R&R WOULD FIX IT. HOWEVER AT THE LAST MINUTE THE SERVICE MANAGER DECIDED TO CALL FORD ENGINEERING AND HE TALKED TO AN ENGINEER WHO EXPLAINED THAT THE FAN CLUTCH IS CONTROLLED BY THE PCM (MODULE) AND THAT REPLACING THE FAN WOULD NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. HE EXPLAINED THAT FOR SOME REASON THE PCM THINKS THE ENGINE IS OVERHEATING AND IT IS TRYING TO INCREASE AIR FLOW THROUGH THE RADIATOR. MAKES SENSE. HOWEVER THERE ARE NO CODES SHOWING AN OVERHEATING PROBLEM. HMMMM'' UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TRANS WAS THROWING OF AN OVERHEAT CODE! I'M NOT SURE WHY THAT WAS NOT APPARENT FROM THE BEGINNING. THE LAPTOP SHOWED THE TRANS TEMP AT 270!. NO WAY! SO UP ON THE LIFT, AND PHYSICALLY CHECK THE TRANS TEMP AND FLUID TEMP. WELL, 160 ALL DAY LONG! TURNS OUT THAT THE THERMO BYPASS WAS FAULTY AND WAS MISINFORMING THE PCM THAT THE TRANS WAS OVERHEATING AND THE PCM WAS LOCKING UP THE FAN CLUTCH TO PULL MORE AIR TO COMPENSATE. REPLACED THE THERMO BYPASS AND SO FAR PROBLEM SOLVED. TO DO THIS YOU MUST DROP THE TRANS PAN AND REMOVE THE VALVE BODY AS THE THERMO BYPASS IS LOCATED IN THE VALVE BODY. *TR

I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I HAD A TWO YEAR OLD IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME NOT ONLY MY LIFE WAS IN DANGER BUT A CHILD ALSO. THEN, PROBLEMS AGAIN - I NOTED A BLINKING "O/D OFF" LIGHT AND "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT ON THE CONSOLE WHILE DRIVING ON THE WEEKEND. I WAS FORCED TO TAKE IT BACK IN FOR MAINTENANCE, ABOUT 3-4 WEEKS AFTER THE LAST SERVICE. JUST TALKING THROUGH THIS ON THE PHONE WITH THE SERVICE DEPT, THE INDICATED IT WAS PROBABLY A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM - QUICK SEARCH ON THE WEB FOR OTHER FORD OWNERS WITH SIMILAR INDICATIONS/WARNING LIGHTS SEEMED TO BACK THAT UP - SO I ANTICIPATED I WAS LOOKING AT A FULL TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE FORWARD WHILE STOPPED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ON FIVE OCCASIONS AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CAUSED THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. AS OF NOVEMBER 28, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,400 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,588.
