highFUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
Filed: Jul 2016

Your fuel tank won't fill up properly — it takes about 45 minutes to completely fill instead of the usual few minutes. The problem is caused by a clogged screen inside the fuel tank that's blocked with particles and debris, preventing fuel from entering the tank. Additionally, the tank has started to rust due to a gas leak. Fixing this will likely involve removing and cleaning or replacing the fuel tank screen, and possibly repairing or replacing the fuel tank itself if rust damage is significant.

highFUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Apr 2013

When you fill your gas tank, it overflows and spills gasoline down the side of the truck and onto the ground, even after the pump clicks off. This has happened multiple times. The issue appears to be related to a known problem in earlier Dodge Durango models. A mechanic will likely need to inspect or replace the fuel filler neck or vent system that prevents proper overflow.

highFUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
Filed: Mar 2009

When you fill up your gas tank, fuel shoots out of the filler neck once the tank gets nearly full, causing gasoline to spill onto the ground every time you refuel. This creates a potential fire hazard from the spilled fuel. The issue likely involves the fuel filler neck assembly or the vent system that's supposed to allow air to escape as the tank fills.

mediumFUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
Filed: Dec 2009

When you fill up your gas tank completely, fuel spurts back out of the filler neck instead of staying in the tank. This is the same problem that was recalled for other model years, but your 2006 model year wasn't included in that recall. The fix would likely involve inspecting or replacing the fuel filler neck assembly to correct the overflow issue.
