2016 Dodge Dart Other Problems

The shifter cable. It is not available for inspection at no cost through any dealership I have contacted through the FCA. This can cause an unexpected and unrecoverable loss of park function and/or vehicle movement in an unintended direction which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning and/or injury to others outside of the vehicle.

Since my purchase of this vehicle over two years ago, I have consistently had problems with the card shutting off while driving. It has happened no less than six times, two within the last week. Each time I have been fortunate enough to get the car to the side of the road, restart it and then continue with no immediate shut down.

Driving my dodge dart on the freeway and it staled out almost caused me to get in a car accident this happed on the freeway to me more then once took it in to dealership and now they are telling me I need my engine replaced I did the best care of the dart all the oil changes and everything were always done to a t dodge saying it will cost 8000.00 to get a new engine only had the dodge dart 2016 for 2 years had to get it towed

On may 05 2019 I received a letter from fca us llc - important safety recall. Talking about a problem on the transmission shift cable. They say that there is not remedy available and that I will be contacted again when the solution is available.

This is the 5th time that I have experienced the same problem. The last time I was almost in an accident. After the first start of the day, the car shuts off while driving.

Twice while driving my car has just completely stalled and lost power. Both times I was slowing to a stop. Other times it feels as it it will stall but doesn't.

On 9/25/2025, I was on my way home from the grocery store, stopped off in a different section of my condo complex to check the mail. I attempted to place the car in park. The handle moved forward but the gears did not shift.

While I was slowing down to almost a complete stop to idling, my car stalled. It has happened a few times now. I am scared, I usually have my young children in the car with me.

Car continues to stall in the mist of driving. My car has stalled on me in the middle of the highway twice this year while myself and daughter was in the vehicle barely getting hit by other vehicles. Something needs to be done.

Car stalled while driving on a on ramp to the freeway. I pulled over and tried to start it. It sounded like it was trying to turn over by itself for a good 10 seconds.

This is the third complaint I have field about the same problem. My car is turning off while driving. At 50,281 miles my cars motor turned off wile I was driving.

Takata inflators, when driving it just dyes and losses all power no radio no nothing no power at all and won't start till it seats for about 15 to 20 mins than it will start and u can drive it does not do it all the time just when ever it wants to.

I am reporting a serious safety concern involving a 2016 Dodge Dart GT (VIN: [XXX] ). The selling dealership represented the vehicle as accident‑free and undamaged, but after delivery I discovered significant, undisclosed front‑end and structural issues. The affected components include the front bumper, radiator support area, subframe, suspension, brakes, and cooling system. These components are available for inspection. My safety was put at risk because the vehicle shows clear evidence of prior impact and improper or incomplete repairs. A mechanic’s inspection documented a salvage‑yard front subframe installed for unknown reasons, a leaking lower radiator hose, rusted struts and shocks, suspension bushings beginning to fail, a bent left‑rear lower control arm, and brakes that “feel like they don’t want to stop the vehicle,” possibly due to rusted rotors and pads. The mechanic also noted alarming rust inside the frame and stated that the rust alone would justify returning the vehicle. All four tires show high/low spots consistent with belt separation, creating a wobble at speed. These conditions create multiple safety hazards: compromised crash protection, potential airbag sensor misalignment from prior front‑end impact, cooling‑system failure risk, loss of braking ability, suspension instability, and possible loss of control due to tire belt separation. The Carfax also shows a radiator replacement shortly before sale, strongly suggesting a front‑end collision that was not disclosed. The problem was confirmed by an independent service center. The manufacturer, police, and insurance have not yet inspected the vehicle. No warning lamps appeared prior to discovering these issues; the defects were concealed and UNKNOWN to me at purchase. I unknowingly operated a vehicle with compromised structural integrity and multiple safety‑critical defects, placing me and other drivers at risk. I received a safety recall on my vehicle in October, and it is now almost february and there is still no remedy. This safety recall is the Transmission Shift Cable A0C. The recall states: "This can cause an unexpected and unrecoverable loss of PARK function and/or vehicle movement in an unintended direction which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning and/or injury to others outside the vehicle." This is putting myself and others at risk. The dealership has confirmed the issue and has no remedy. They informed me to wait for the remedy. My vehicle has been developing the symptoms of this recall for about 3 years. The key gets stuck in the ignition, the car does not go into or out of PARK easily, it sticks. After I park my car rolls backwards. My vehicle does not feel like its in park. The shifter has become stiff and does not want to move. The form says " do not drive" on mopars official recall. I do not feel safe driving this car.

Open recall for transmission shift cable failure since October 9, 2025 with no available fix/parts yet. This is my 20 year old's vehicle and we feel this is extremely unsafe and are requesting a manufacturer buy-back immediately.

The shifter cable on my car has completely worn out so the gear box no longer shifts correctly. I took it to my local dealership, Watsonville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, in Watsonville California and they said the remedy is not yet available. They also are trying to charge me $800 something dollars for a “temporary fix” and I can maybe apply for reimbursement

When trying to switch gears from reverse to drive, the gear got stuck in neutral. My gear shift is able to move when pressing on the brake as it is intended to do. However, the actual gear does not change and on the dashboard and the light display from the gear shift still shows "N" for neutral.

My shifter cable snapped while driving home from work. Found out about the recall trying to get it fixed.

I had the recall for the transmission bushing shifter cable fixed at Greenway Dodge. Clearly still a defective piece. It broke again… they’re trying to charge me $850+ to fix it again.

The car stops unexpectedly. It smoked the other day. I don't know what fuel.

The vehicle got too hot, almost all the electric system of the car had very little energy and blinked, the air conditioning takes a long time to work either to defog the windows, heat or cool. The radio is not working properly. Lights are not level.

Temperature gauge repeatedly going above midline without cluster indicator lights turning on or other indications that vehicle is overheating.

I have had this car for 2 years now and it just now started jerking while driving it. It does this in any gear or in park while the car is on. It almost feels like it wants to cut off or maybe transmission problems but I have taken the car to the mechanic and they used their code reader and can not find out whats wrong with the car..

When backing out of my driveway the touchscreen went completely black. After finishing backing up got into the main road, the screen stayed black for a minute. When I went to the store I was headed to, I turned off the car of course, when I came back to start it, it was back to no normal.

The turn indicator stalk/lever in my car is broken. It is a multi-task lever due to the fact that it controls my windshield wipers, window cleaner, and enables me to switch my lights from dim to bright. The lever now falls and calls my turning lights to blink continuously while I'm driving as well as cause the bright lights to just pop up when I'm driving behind someone at night.

There is a recall on my current dodge dart my vehicle has been out of service since august 8th 2019. I've tried calling your company for weeks now I was able to tow my vehicle to a dodge dealer ship to confirm that the problem is based on the recall. There is still no solution to the issue and need to be able to get to and from work.

Takata recall. I have a recall on my car called shifter cable bushing and I called dodge dealer ship and they said all dodge shops dont have the parts because once it becomes dangerous for you to drive they will then order the part and replace it. I was told at drive time where I bought the car that there is a recall for my car and all I had to do is call the dealership and get it replace.

Takata recall. Got a notice my vehicle was in recall and would like to know what I need to do before something breaks or something bad happens! Will company repair the issue on recall or replace the vehicle?

This is the fourth time this has happened the last time my mileage was at 49,218 this time my mileage was at 51,068. Basically what happens is: while driving the vehicle (mostly on city streets) the cars engine will randomly shut off. In order to restart the car you have to come to a complete stop, put the transmission in park or neutral and restart the car.

Thermostat failed at 47k miles on a 2016 dart. This should have been covered under engine warranty but wasn't. The 2.4l has a history of thermostat failings and our dealership replaces them constantly.

The backup camera constantly fails. The possibility of a blackout screen due to the poor connection to the camera keep increasing.

Emissions Recall U90 Catalyst Efficiency this recall was never addressed on my Dodge Dart.

After coming back from getting lunch, I pulled in the parking spot and started to park. I put the gear in park, but it was showing that the car was in neutral. I let my feet off the brake to see if it was an error, but it started moving backwards.

The car suddenly loses all power at random times. Has happened when driving and when at a full stop and has happened multiple times over the 2.5 years we owned the car. The car can be turned back on right away.

Reverse camera malfunction shows upside down and flashes in and out of frame

I have 2016 dodge dart and the brake booster went out in it the same problem with a previous issue with recall brake pedal went hard and could not stop quickly while driving and was told by dodge it did not fall under recall for being different year and would cost a lot of money to fix then the ABS modular valve went out and locked the brake while driving the car is used to travel in the city during morning and evening commutes

Ongoing problems with dimmer switch..back up camera..recall on cable which is dangerous...criuse control clunkers badly..in shop numerous occasions

When my oil life goes below 35% the engine will shut of while I am driving. It mostly happens when making a turn. It does restart after about 2 minutes and cranking the engine.

Hello I bought a 2016 dodge dart a little over a year ago I've have the standard matinence done when suggested but have been experiencing issues with the oil running out I've looked up issues online and I'm honestly kind of surprised you have not had dodge recall or look into this issue already because many people are having the same issues with these motors in fact I've found that some people have run down so low the engine actually shuts off I would please like you to investigate into this and have dodge fix the problem thank you.

Tamara recall the blower for heat and AC works off and on. It started only working once a day now it won't work at all.

This is not the first time this has happened to me. While driving, the engine shuts off. Could be going as slow as 15mph to as fast as 70 MPH.

On 5-21-16 while driving after turning on a city street the car started beeping and the gas wouldn't work. The battery light came on and the car came to a rolling stop. All lights worked.
