NHTSA Campaign: 25V674000

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Dodge Dart vehicles. The shifter cable may detach from the transmission, preventing the vehicle from shifting into the park (P) position and causing a loss of park function.

Risk: A loss of park function may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Vehicles that were previously repaired under recall 19V293 will need to have the new remedy completed. The remedy is currently under development. Interim notification letters, explaining the safety risk, were mailed November 6, 2025. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is A0C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning October 16, 2025.

Your vehicle can shift out of Park without pressing the brake pedal, and it also unexpectedly shifts out of gear while you're driving, which has created dangerous situations. This is a serious transmission control problem that needs immediate attention. The fix will likely involve inspecting and possibly replacing the transmission shift interlock solenoid or brake pedal position sensor.

Your transmission has been losing power unexpectedly while driving, causing the car to jerk and rev up on its own, sometimes making it impossible to shift into gear or stay in gear. Even though your car was recalled for transmission issues and you had a warranty extension that covered multiple repairs, the underlying transmission problem was never fixed. You're reporting that the transmission needs to be rebuilt or replaced, and you believe the original recall repair didn't address the root cause.

CrashFiled: Jan 2026

Your 2013 Dodge Dart experienced unintended acceleration while parked, causing it to crash into a gate. After an initial repair under a recall, the vehicle then failed to park properly and the parking brake stopped working, leaving the car immobilized at the dealership. A newer recall (25V674000) was identified as related to the problem, but the required repair parts weren't available at the time of your complaint, leaving your vehicle unable to be fixed and stranded at the dealer. The repair will likely involve replacing the parking brake system and related powertrain components once parts become available.

While driving at 30 mph over speed bumps, your transmission warning lights came on and steering became difficult, causing your car to hit a barrier. After the crash, when you tried to shift into Park, the car continued moving forward, and when you shifted to Reverse, the transmission didn't respond. Your engine then stalled and wouldn't restart, with multiple warning messages including 'service transmission' appearing on the dashboard. This issue is related to a recall your car is eligible for, but the dealer told you the repair isn't yet available.

Your shift cable, which connects your gear shifter to the transmission, suddenly failed, leaving your car unable to shift into gear. This problem has been confirmed as a safety recall by your Dodge dealership, but the required recall part is not currently available from Mopar, and you've been waiting over two and a half months with no repair timeline or temporary solution offered. Your vehicle cannot be safely driven and has required towing, leaving you without transportation for work.

Your traction control light turns on, followed by the transmission control module light, which causes your car to go into limp mode—a reduced-power mode that limits performance. When stopped at a red light, your car may lunge forward unexpectedly even though you're pressing the brake. This combination of warning lights and sudden movement suggests an issue with how the transmission and traction control systems are communicating. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the transmission control module for error codes and checking the traction control system sensors and connections.

Your 2013 Dodge Dart has a shifter cable that controls how your transmission responds, and it has failed multiple times — four replacements so far. When the cable fails, your transmission won't respond to gear changes, leaving your car unable to move and creating a rollaway hazard. There's a recall (19V293000) for this issue, but the replacement parts have been unavailable, and the manufacturer has taken longer than expected to fix it. The repair involves replacing the shifter cable.

Your transmission shifter cable has failed multiple times — it's been replaced at least four times, and your transmission keeps getting stuck in reverse or won't shift into gear properly. Related problems have also occurred, like your headlights staying on and doors not unlocking. While your dealer has attempted repairs under two separate recall campaigns, parts for the latest recall haven't been made available yet, leaving your vehicle unable to be driven normally.

Your transmission unexpectedly shifts into neutral when you accelerate going up a ramp. This loss of power during acceleration could be dangerous in traffic situations. The transmission may need to be inspected or repaired to prevent it from disengaging during driving.

Your 2013 Dodge Dart vibrates noticeably when you try to speed up or slow down at around 40 MPH, and the transmission unexpectedly shifts down without warning. Your vehicle is part of a recall (Campaign 25V674000) for this powertrain issue, but replacement parts haven't been available yet, and your dealer hasn't been able to diagnose or fix it. The repair will likely involve transmission components or transmission fluid service once the recall parts become available.

Your 2013 Dodge Dart failed to go into reverse when you shifted the gear shifter and pressed the accelerator pedal while parked, with no warning lights appearing. The dealer couldn't determine the cause and said a diagnostic test was needed, but there's an open recall (Campaign 25V674000) for the powertrain that requires a part currently unavailable. You may be without your vehicle until the recall part becomes available and the repair is completed.

Your transmission shift cable detached from the transmission, causing your gear shifter to move freely without actually changing gears. You couldn't shift into Park or Drive, which created a serious safety risk because your car could roll unexpectedly even when the shifter appeared to be in Park. This is a known issue covered under Recall A0C (NHTSA 25V-674), and the fix will involve reattaching or replacing the transmission shift cable.

Your transmission shifter cable detached while you were parking, leaving the gear shift feeling loose and unresponsive—the car wouldn't recognize which gear you selected and wouldn't stay in park. You had to physically access the shift mechanism from underneath the vehicle and manually shift into park to prevent the car from rolling. A local mechanic was able to install a replacement part, but had to disable the safety feature that normally prevents you from turning off the engine while driving, creating a new safety concern.

While stopped at an intersection, you couldn't shift your car into gear and the transmission became stuck in neutral. A bushing on the tension rod deteriorated and broke apart, causing this problem. You were able to roll the car to a nearby gas station for safety. The repair will likely involve replacing the worn tension rod bushing and checking the transmission linkage.

Your car is jolting unexpectedly, which could cause it to shift direction suddenly while driving. Both your dealer and a mechanic have confirmed this problem exists after inspecting the transmission and powertrain. This unexpected jolting could potentially cause a loss of vehicle control. The fix will likely involve transmission service, fluid replacement, or internal transmission repairs.

Your 2013 Dodge Dart may experience jerking, loss of acceleration, and stalling while driving, with check engine and oil warning lights turning on. The engine is consuming excessive oil, requiring you to top it off every 1,000 miles, and there's an oil leak present. A previous service attempt under a manufacturer service campaign didn't resolve the issue. The engine may need internal inspection or replacement to stop the excessive oil consumption and leaking.

Your car's transmission shifter got stuck—the vehicle was physically in park but the display showed reverse, and you couldn't remove the key, turn off the electrical system, or shift to park using the controls. The car had to be towed to the dealership for service. This type of issue typically involves the shift mechanism, electrical controls, or transmission position sensors that need diagnosis and repair.
