Your tailgate has opened unexpectedly while you're driving at various speeds and also while your truck is parked. Even after closing it, the tailgate reopens within a few seconds on its own. This could create a safety hazard if cargo falls out while driving. The issue likely involves a faulty tailgate latch mechanism that needs inspection and possible replacement.

Your tailgate has been opening unexpectedly while driving and while parked, even after you close it. You first noticed a warning message about the tailgate being open while driving at 30 MPH, and when you checked, it had actually popped open. The problem has happened multiple times since then. The dealer said your vehicle's VIN doesn't match the related recall, but you believe your truck has the same issue covered by that recall.
