I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE, SERVICE STABILITRAK - REDUCED ENGINE POWER. THIS HAS COME UP A FEW TIMES. THIS TIME THOUGH WHILE STILL DRIVING MY ENGINE POWER WAS GREATLY REDUCED WITH THE ERROR, "STARTER DISABLED, SERVICE THROTTLE". THIS LED TO A DRASTIC DECREASE IN SPEED WITH ZERO CONTROL OVER THROTTLE AND MOVED TO THE SHOULDER AND THE CAR ROLLED TO A HALT.
BOUGHT 2011 IMPALA LT 2 WEEKS AGO, FIRST TIME DRIVING TO WORK ON FREEWAY - ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND MESSAGE COMES UP - ENGINE POWER LOSS, STABILITAK TRACTION CONTROL. CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN!! ALMOST GOT HIT BY SEMI . NO ONE HAS ANY ANSWERS!?
ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, ONCE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND AGAIN TODAY, MY 2011 CHEV IMPALA LTZ DISPLAYED A SERIES OF ROTATING ALERT MESSAGES -- 1. SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL 2. SERVICE STABILITRAK 3. ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR ON AN OPEN ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING VERY ROUGHLY AND SLOWED DOWN AND THE ABOVE 3 MESSAGES REPEATEDLY DISPLAYED ONE AFTER THE OTHER. ALSO 2 YELLOW LIGHTS WERE FLASHING AND THEN REMAINED ON -- THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT (I THINK). WHEN I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO THE CHEV DEALERSHIP A YEAR AGO, I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE THE WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO. (AND I UNDERSTAND THAT IF IT ISN'T BROKEN WHEN I TAKE IT IN, THE SERVICE DEPT WOULD MOST CHALLENGED TO FIX IT.) TODAY, WHEN THIS HAPPENED I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO A SAFE PLACE TO PARK. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, WAITED A MOMENT AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. THE SAME 3 MESSAGES WERE DISPLAYED WITH THE TWO YELLOW LIGHTS STAYING ON. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR 3 OR 4 HOURS LATER, ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS DISPLAYED. THE 3 REFERENCED ALERTS WERE NOT DISPLAYED. I AM GETTING READY TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN WITH THIS PROBLEM. DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE AS TO HOW TO PROCEED?
TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, STABILITRAC LIGHT, AND ENGINE LIGHT ALL CAME ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY. THIS CAUSED THE CAR TO START JERKING AND SHIFTING HARD, ALSO ENGINE RUNNING LIKE IT HAS A MISFIRE NOW. BEFORE THIS BEGAN THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND SHIFTING PERFECT.
ENGINE SHUT DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY, COASTED TO STOP ON SHOULDER. ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART. WAITED 5 MINUTES THEN ENGINE RESTARTED ERROR MESSAGE DISPLAYED BEFORE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING: SHUTTING DOWN THROTTLE
MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN BEEPED AND 3 WARNINGS CAME UP SAYING "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" ,"SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND "SERVICE STABILITRAK" 2 IMAGES CAME ON AS WELL THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION ONE. THE CAR SEEMED TO BE RUNNING FINE I WAS ALMOST HOME. BUT IT SCARED ME SINCE ALL THOSE LIGHTS WERE FLASHING. ESPECIALLY THE ENGINE POWER REDUCING. READING ALL THESE STORIES I FEEL LUCKY THAT MY CAR DID NOT STOP ON ME. I REMEMBERED ID RECEIVED A LETTER THAT WAS NOT A RECALL BUT MENTIONED TO TAKE IN IF YOU HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THIS AND SHOULD BE COVERED OR REFUNDED IF FIXED IN THE PAST. I FOUND IT CALLED GM AND HAVE AN APPT IN 2 WEEKS WHICH WORRIES ME HOPE NOTHING HAPPENS BETWEEN THEN. THE BAD AND GOOD THING IS THAT NOW ALL THE LIGHTS HAVE COME OFF. HOPING THEY ARE STILL ABLE TO FIX IT AND I AM NOT HAVING TO PAY ANYTHING FOR IT. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL.
GOT A MESSAGE ON MY DASH A FEW MONTHS AGO ABOUT "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" WHILE DRIVING. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT LIT UP ALSO. PARKED CAR AND TURNED CAR OFF THEN ON...MESSAGE GONE. TOOK IT INTO SERVICE...SHOWED NO ERROR CODES. TODAY (5/2/16), IT DID IT AGAIN WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SIMULTANEOUSLY LIGHTING UP. "SERVICE STABILITRAK", SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL", AND "ENGINE POWER IS RECUDED" ARE THE MESSAGES I GOT TODAY ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BEING ON. I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE HIGHWAY SO I WASN'T GOING FAST WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I WAS CLOSE TO WORK SO I PARKED IT AT WORK. TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN ON AGAIN AND THE MESSAGES WERE GONE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WAS OFF BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. TURNED CAR ON AGAIN AT LUNCH 1.5 HOURS LATER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF NOW SO I DOUBT ANYONE WILL BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR FIX ANYTHING TODAY. TAKING IT TO SERVICE TO SEE IF IT THREW ANY ERROR CODES A LITTLE LATER TODAY. I'VE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF PEOPLE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. IF IT HAPPENS TO ME AND I'M IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS, I WILL SUE THE S**T OUT OF GM. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND IF ANY OF US GETS HURT OR KILLED, THERE WILL BE H**L TO PAY. THIS ISSUE SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE RECALLED. IT IS NOT DUE TO MY KEY/IGNITION ISSUE. ALREADY HANDLED THAT RECALL. LOSING POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY RANDOMLY IS ABSOLUTELY DANGEROUS AND I'M NOW VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER IMPALA AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING ALONG A CURVY RIVER ROAD MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT , MY TRACTION CONTROL AND THE STABILIZE LIGHT CAME OUT. THEN THE ENGINE REDUCED POWER. BARELY MADE IT HOME. WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES RESTATED THE CAR AND IT RAN NORMAL BUT STILL FEEL THE CAR HESITATE. EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT I WORRY THAT ITS CONING TO DO IT AGAIN. I LIVE IN THE PART OF THE COUNTY THAT GETS SNOW AND AM WORRIED ITS GOING TO HAPPEN DURING A STORM, THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE SERVICE STABILITY PACK AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER CAME ON. THE CAR THEN JERKED, AND SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS STILL DRIVING, AND WOULDN'T START AGAIN UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES LATER. THERE WERE NO WET NOR ROAD HAZARD CONDITIONS THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN. FURTHERMORE, I WAS DRIVING AT 60MPH WHEN THIS OCCURRED IN MODERATE TRAFFIC AND ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE ISSUE, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE GAS PEDAL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. SINCE THEN MY VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES. THIS ISSUES NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE A LOT OF INDIVIDUALS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE IMPALA. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE AN INJURY OR FATALITY FOR A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES. MOREOVER, ANY VEHICLE THAT SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED BECAUSE OF AN ISSUES WITH THROTTLE BODY/GAS PEDAL NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BECAUSE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *JS
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL REDUCE ENGINE POWER AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. CAR ENGINE LOST POWER AND I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BLOW UP IT MADE THE WHOLE CAR SHAKE. YOU SHUT IT OFF FOR A FEW AND RESTART IT AND ITS LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. NOT TO HAPPY ABOUT THIS I HAVE NOT HAD THE CAR A YEAR. GUESS A PERSON NEEDS TO DIE FROM THIS MATTER BEFORE THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS WHAT A JOKE. AND THE WORST IS CHEVY WILL NOT COVER ANY OF THIS EVEN IF THE CAR IS UNDER A WARRANTY. *TR
WHILE LEAVING FROM WORK I MADE A LEFT TURN ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY AND MY SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, REDUCE ENGINE POWER, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER AND CAR WAS WANTING TO TURN OFF. TURNED OFF CAR AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT GOES OFF BUT CHECK ENGINE STAYS ON. CAME HOME GOOGLED WHAT COULD BE THE CAUSE AND SEE THAT MANY IMPALAS OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME TROUBLE...I SEE A LAWSUIT HAPPENING IF GM DOES NOT RECALL THIS! *TR
FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, THE INDICATOR ON MY VEHICLE WILL ALERT ME "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL; REDUCING ENGINE POWER". AT FIRST I THOUGHT THIS WAS JUST A GLITCH, UNTIL IT KEPT HAPPENING OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THERE ARE DAYS WHEN THE INDICATOR WILL GO OFF AND REMAIN OFF FOR A WEEK OR TWO, BUT THEN IT WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN COME BACK ON AND REMAIN ON FOR A WEEK OR SO. I GET MY VEHICLE SERVICED REGULARLY. I HAVE CONTACTED GM DEALERSHIP AFTER DEALERSHIP, AND THEY HAVE ALL TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. FINALLY, I ASKED FOR THE CORPORATE OFFICE NUMBER [XXX]. I CALLED GM'S CORPORATE OFFICE (REFERENCE#: [XXX]) AND WAS TOLD THAT MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY IS STILL GOOD BUT MY BUMPERTOBUMPER WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED DUE TO THE MILEAGE. I ADVISED THE REPRESENTATIVE ([XXX]) THAT I HAD GOOGLED THIS INFORMATION TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH CHEVY IMPLALA'S, AND I ASKED WHY HASN'T GM PUT OUT A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. SHE THEN TELLS ME THAT I NEED TO PAY AND GET A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK TO DETERMINE THE ACTUAL ISSUE. MY QUESTION TO HER IS "WHY SHOULD I OR ANY CUSTOMER HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A REPORTED KNOWN ISSUE?" THERE REPRESENTATIVE CONTINUED TO APOLOGIZE AND TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING THAT GM COULD DO BECAUSE THIS WAS NOT A KNOWN ISSUE. I REFERENCED THERE REPRESENTATIVE TO RESEARCH FOR HERSELF [XXX] AND SHE CONTINUED TO TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND OUT OF THE BLUE THE STABILITY CONTROL AND REDUCE ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON THE MESSAGE DISPLAY. THERE WERE NO WEATHER CONDITIONS AT THE TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES TOTAL. ONE TIME IT HAPPENED AS SHE WAS WARMING UP THE CAR. ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED SHAKING AND SHE FELT AS IF IT WAS ABOUT TO TAKE OFF INTO SPACE. SHE TURNED IT OFF THREE TIMES - EVEN TRIED TO DRIVE IT AND MOVE TO ANOTHER PARKING PLACE AND TURNED IF OFF AGAIN BEFORE IT FINALLY STOPPED SHAKING. *TR
