TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ALLOWED IT TO COOL DOWN. AFTER, APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 10 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING COOLANT AND OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.

I JUST RECENTLY HAD THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED NOTIFICATION COME UP ON MY CAR AND POWER REDUCED A GOOD AMOUNT. I GOT HOME AS SOON AS I COULD AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. DIDN'T COME ON THE NEXT DAY BUT WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN, 25-45 MPH, I COULD FEEL A LITTLE OF A PULL TIME TO TIME, SAW THAT THE RPM NEEDLE WOULD JUMP TIME TO TIME. I HAVE ALSO DRIVEN IT ON THE INTERSTATE AND IT IS JUST THE SAME THING.

WHILE STARTING MY CAR THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THERE WAS ALSO A MESSAGE STATING ENGINE REDUCED POWER. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAD THIS HAPPEN. PREVIOUSLY I HAD THIS OCCUR AND I TOOK MY CAR TO GET SERVICED. THE MECHANIC AT THE REPAIR SHOP TESTED FOR CODES AND IT STATED THE THROTTLE BODY. I HAD THAT REPLACED ON TO TURN AROUND AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM TWO DAYS LATER. I RECENTLY SEARCHED THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND NOTICED I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE. I CALLED GM AND THE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT UNFORTUNATELY THERE WASN'T A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I TRAVEL A LOT ON THE FREEWAY AND I WOULD HATE FOR THE CAR TO STOP WHILE DRIVING WITH MYSELF AND CHILDREN INSIDE. THIS VEHICLE COMPLAINT REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.

I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN LATE MARCH 2010. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, MY CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. I HAD AT LEAST 3 INCIDENCES THAT I CAN REMEMBER, 1 OF WHICH WAS GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED. FRIGHTENED, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. MY FIRST REACTION WAS TO ATTEMPT TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT STARTED UP RIGHT AWAY AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT SAFELY HOME. THE OTHER INCIDENTS WERE ON MAIN ROADS IN TOWN. THE CAR DID THE SAME THING. AFTER THE INTERSTATE ORDEAL, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO BEATY CHEVROLET IN KNOXVILLE, TN. THEY STATED THAT THE IGNITION WENT OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW, I UNDERSTAND THAT OTHER GM OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. A RECALL DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE ISSUED SO NO MORE PEOPLE ARE PUT IN HARM'S WAY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE ACCORDING TO AN OPERATOR NAMED [XXX] AT GM WHEN I CALLED A FEW MINUTES AGO TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE CURRENT RECALL REGARDING THE KEY/FOB TURNING ISSUE. SHE STATED THAT THE RECALL HAD NOT YET BEEN ISSUED REGARDING MY ISSUE AND THAT I NEEDED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH YOUR DEPARTMENT. I BELIEVE THAT THIS KNOWN ISSUE IS BEING SWEPT UNDER THE RUG BY THE BIG CORPORATION AND NEEDS TO BE DEALT WITH IMMEDIATELY. I DESERVE A FULL REFUND FOR "FAULTY" MANUFACTURED PARTS. 2007 CHEVY IMPALA WILL HAVE THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. THE WARNING "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" WILL COME ON, ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE, THE CAR SHAKES, AND IS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. HAD THE GAS PEDAL AND THE EQUIVALENT PART IN THE ENGINE REPLACED (AT DIFFERENT TIMES) AND HAD THE CODES COME UP IN BETWEEN THE PARTS BEING REPLACED AND STILL NOW. TOOK IT INTO A CHEVY DEALER AND IT DOESN'T ACT UP FOR THEM. AND FOR WHATEVER REASON THEIR COMPUTER DOESN'T SHOW ANY PROBLEMS. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON DIFFERENT WEBSITES. POWER WAS CUT, LEFT HER DRIVING AT AROUND 40MPH I DROVE IT TODAY, JULY 1,2014, IT DID FINE FOR ABOUT THE FIRST MILE THEN SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, REDUCED ENGINE POWER DISPLAY CAME ON AGAIN. I DROVE IT 4 TIMES TODAY, SEEMS THAT IF THE CAR SIT FOR A FEW HOURS, IT RAN FINE, FULL POWER, NO ISSUES FOR ABOUT THE FIRST MILE TO MILE AND A HALF THEN IT WOULD COME UP WITH THE SERVICE TCS AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER WHICH LEAVES YOU AT VERY REDUCED SPEEDS. LUCKILY I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY SO TRAFFIC WASN'T A HUGE ISSUE. WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL IN VIRGINIA THE LIGHT FIRST CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER IN VIRGINIA FOR A WEEK, THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT AND A WEEK LATER IT CAME BACK ON. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT AGAIN, HOWEVER IT ONCE AGAIN CAME BACK ON. THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T LET ME ACCELERATE OVER 25 MPH AND I NEEDED TO GET HOME TO NEW YORK. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER I RECEIVED THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" AGAIN AND BROUGHT IT TO A GM DEALER IN NEW YORK, WHO SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THIS PROBLEM. LAST WEEK THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN WITH THE MESSAGE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" ONCE AGAIN AND THE CAR STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT-OFF. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I WAS STOPPED ON A 60MPH HIGHWAY WITH CARS JUST MISSING ME. I HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AS A COLLEGE STUDENT TRYING TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE WHICH STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND NOW HAS BECOME AN INCONVENIENCE, A TOLL ON MY BANK ACCOUNT, AS WELL AS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT EITHER CARBON WAS STUCK IN THE VALVE OR THE SOLENOID WAS FULL OF WATER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ALSO, THE CABLE TO THE BATTERY WAS CORRODED. TWO MECHANICS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CAUSED BY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 73,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,000.

THE CHEVY DEALER HAS HAD THE CAR IN TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM, THE SECOND TIME FOR MORE THAN A WEEK, AND WE'RE TOLD IT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN THE SHOP. THE SLIP HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE EVERY TWO DAYS THAT WE NOTICE. NOW, AT 50,100 MILES, THE EXHAUST HAS GOTTEN LOUDER AND A REPAIR SHOP SAID THERE'S A CRACK ON THE TOP OF THE LEFT MUFFLER.
