Owner Complaints (27)
Your car completely stopped running while driving through a busy intersection during rush hour with no warning light appearing. The engine cut out two more times on the way to the dealership before restarting on its own each time. The dealership found that your fuel pump had failed internally, sending debris into your fuel injectors, which required replacing both the fuel pump and fuel injectors.

Your fuel pump stopped working while driving uphill on the freeway, causing a complete loss of power and inability to accelerate. You were fortunate to reach a safe pull-off area; otherwise you could have stalled on a blind curve with traffic approaching at high speed. The fuel pump will need to be replaced to restore normal engine operation.

Your car may suddenly display a "reduced engine power" message and check engine light while driving, causing the engine to lose power and stall. This happened at highway speeds (65 MPH), and your car wouldn't restart immediately — it took 45 minutes the first time, and wouldn't restart at all the second time. The fuel pump was replaced after the first failure, but the same problem happened again about five months later, and this time both the fuel pump and the entire fuel pump system needed replacement.

Your high pressure fuel pump has failed twice in six months, causing your car to suddenly shut off and sputter while driving, which put you and your children at risk. The first time this happened two months after purchase, the dealership replaced the pump, but the same problem returned three months later. The fix will likely involve replacing the fuel pump and diagnosing why it's failing prematurely.

Your vehicle's fuel pump has stopped working twice while you were driving at highway speeds (55 and 60 mph), causing the engine to shut down suddenly with no warning. Both times this happened, your car came to an abrupt stop in traffic, creating a serious risk of being hit by other vehicles. The dealership confirmed this is a known factory defect that has occurred multiple times on your vehicle, but refused to cover the second repair under warranty despite the car only having 54,000 miles. Fixing this issue will likely involve replacing or repairing the fuel pump assembly.

Your car suddenly lost engine power while driving, triggering a check engine light and a dashboard message saying "engine power reduced." You were unable to accelerate beyond 40 mph and had to drive home on side streets with hazard lights on, leaving you stranded on a busy highway. Your car's high pressure fuel pump failed while you were driving, causing a sudden loss of power and forcing the vehicle into limp mode where it wouldn't go faster than 5 mph. The check engine light and dash warnings came on, and your car had to be towed to the dealer—where it wouldn't even start. This type of sudden power loss in traffic could be dangerous, as other drivers might not have time to react.

Your check engine light is turning on and off daily, and diagnostic codes are pointing to the high pressure fuel pump. You've been told this is a known issue affecting your vehicle's make and model year that was considered for recall, but your VIN wasn't flagged for the recall coverage, so you'd have to pay for repairs out of pocket. The fix will likely involve diagnosing and replacing the high pressure fuel pump.

Your engine light came on multiple times with messages about reduced engine power and service warnings, though the light went off on its own after driving. Your Chevy dealer diagnosed a faulty fuel pump as the cause, which is unusual for a vehicle with only 58,249 miles. The repair would involve replacing the fuel pump assembly in your fuel tank.

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted after two or three attempts each time. The check engine warning light was illuminated and the OnStar app notified her of fuel issues. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 37,000.
The car while driving suddenly died. The error code is related to the fuel pump, which I now understand had a recall for the 2 previous years. The dealership does not know when a replacement part might be available.
On 9/23/24 I was turning into a gas station going up a bit but of an incline and my car died, reduced engine power light came on as well as check engine light. Tried restart car and it would not start. Let vehicle sit for some time and it started and ran fine, the next day I took off it into the dealership and was told diagnostic indicates my fuel pump needs replaced, I replaced my fuel pump and the car ran fine until October 5, 2024 was driving down the highway at about 65mph when my vehicle lost power, I was able to pull off the road by coasting. Tried to start vehicle no power, engine power reduced light back on as well as check engine light. I was left stuck on the road waiting on a tow truck to take my vehicle back to the dealership that worked on it previously after contacting Chevy it was determined my fuel system failed and the part needed us on back order.
Car lost power on highway. Driving 65 MPH upon exiting ramp, got a check engine light and immediately a message saying reduced engine power. Car went to a speed of about 45 MPH IMMEDIATELY. Thankfully I was able to exit the highway having been ON THE RAMP. I was still able to drive the car on reduced power, had to turn on the hazard and the car was unable to go over 20 MPH. Took it to firestone and was notified that there was a fuel pump issue. Car only had 29000 miles. I know several people this happened to. An absolute joke, these should be recalled.
February-March 2024 the car would stall when trying to accelerate. April 2024 while driving to the store, the vehicle reduced speed and went into power save mode, and the check engine light appeared. I took it to the dealer on a Monday morning and from their diagnosis they reported nothing was wrong. They stated I pretty much had to wait until the car went out before they can figure out what's wrong. May 2024 while reversing and then putting the vehicle in drive, the car begin to lose power and a message appeared saying switch to neutral. After parking and turning the car off, then turning it back on, it hardly wanted to turn on and the message appeared again to put the car in neutral.
Fuel pump quit on 12/24/23. Dealer had vehicle four months while GM designed new pump. Notified vehicle was ready but later same day was notified the catalytic converter was bad - one ordered. Another week. Picked up vehicle mid April 24 and drove about three miles and warning light came on. Returned to dealer, mechanic made adjustments and said all fixed. Been dealing w/GM for buy back or higher trade in. Battle all the way. Bought as tow vehicle with RV. About to leave on 2 to 3,000 mile trip. Do not trust Equinox and want to return/trade for another Equinox or Blazer. Have also looked at Ford products. BTW I was in the inside lane of a busy four lane highway when this happened and speed reduced to about 5 miles per hour. People love their horns when you try to get in outside lane in heavy traffic.
