Your vehicle unexpectedly stalled twice while driving on highways at highway speeds (45 mph and 50 mph) with no warning lights, and would not restart either time. The dealer eventually found a faulty fuel pump driver module and replaced it for $386.62. While the vehicle appears to run fine now, you've learned this issue is part of a recall for other Equinoxes, but your VIN isn't included in it—and the replacement modules themselves are also being recalled.

Your car suddenly lost power while driving on the highway with no warning, forcing you to pull over and get it towed. The dealership replaced the fuel pump module, but the check engine light returned within 2 weeks with the same fault code. After a second replacement, the same problem happened again 3 weeks later. Your car has now been in the shop three times in six weeks for this recurring issue, creating a serious safety hazard if it loses power again while you're driving at highway speeds.

Your car won't start and makes only a grinding noise. After the dealer replaced the fuel pump for $1,300, the problem returned two days later, leaving you stranded again. The car died while driving and required a second dealer visit, where they identified a faulty fuel pump module requiring another $400 repair. The fix involves replacing the fuel pump assembly and fuel pump module to restore proper fuel delivery and engine starting.

Your Equinox suddenly stopped running while you were driving into an intersection with no warning lights or symptoms beforehand. A repair facility diagnosed a failed Fuel Pump Control Module, which was replaced and reprogrammed. You discovered that GM had issued a recall for this same failure on some 2022 Equinox models, but your VIN wasn't included despite experiencing the identical problem. The fix involved replacing the Fuel Pump Control Module and reprogramming it to restore engine operation.

Your vehicle has stalled and lost power while driving at low speeds (25 MPH) without any warning lights appearing first. This problem has happened multiple times since September 2022, and even after the fuel pump module was replaced, the stalling continues to occur. Your dealer diagnosed it as a fuel module failure, but the replacement didn't fully resolve the issue. The repair will likely involve diagnosing and replacing the fuel pump module or related fuel system components.

Your vehicle lost power while driving at 55 MPH, stalled, and wouldn't restart. The check engine light came on, and diagnostic codes pointed to a failure in the Fuel Pump Control Module and a sensor circuit problem. This happened around 30,000 miles and left your car unable to restart after the initial stall. The repair will likely involve replacing the fuel pump control module and diagnosing the sensor circuit issue.

We were in our pharmacy drive thru pick up lane when our car suddenly died, and would not restart. No engine light came on prior. We waited three hours for our tow truck in 99 degree weather to take it to the nearest dealership. Had the fuel pump power control module and also the fuel tank fuel pump module replaced. Now back at dealership, as the fuel gauge is being repaired. Our car evidently didn't show up as needing the fuel pump module recalled. $2000 later, I wonder why not?

On August 16, 2025, my 2022 Chevy Equinox experience an engine stall while I was driving with no warning, no prior check engine light. This was very scary for my own safety but more importantly my child’s safety who was in the back seat. Had I not been able to move my car to the side of the road or had we been on one of Atlanta’s major interstates this could have been a fatal accident for the both of us. I immediately took my car to the dealership where I purchased this car brand new off the truck and have had it serviced ever since. Not only did I take it, I took it there with a recall notice (N222372310) for 21-22 Chevy Equinox experience engine stalls due to a faulty fuel pump module. The dealership informed me that this recall “did not apply” to my VIN. And I had to place it under my warranty and pay my $200 deductible for them to diagnose that in fact my fuel pump module was bad and needed to be replaced, nothing else.

At a stop sign while waiting for passing traffic, the car shuddered and the engined died. Attempts to restart the car failed. The car had roughly 1/4 tank of gas. Towed to a mechanic who put 2 gallons of gas in it and started the engine. Two days leading up to this, with the instrument panel on the screen that shows estimated distance remaining and fuel economy, I observed the fuel economy number changing wildly as I drove, going up to 99 mpg every time I let off the gas and coasted to a stop. Seems to be an electronic component for fuel has failed. When the car had died, the engine light came on. It was off after adding more fuel and restarting the car. NHTSA website says there are 0 outstanding recall repairs for this VIN. So if the faulty fuel pump was replaced under NHTSA Campaign 23V013000, it has failed again. NHTSA website does not show any date/location of said prior recall repairs, so I have doubts whether it was ever actually repaired.

The tech informed our employee that it was very good that we brought the vehicle in when we did and were lucky the engine did not die while an employee was driving. Per the repair order detail attached, the technicians found that it was a fuel pump issue; found in 3 other of our 2022 Chevrolet Equinox vehicles (4 total). In this instance, the vehicle did not shut off while driving. Vehicle stalled and stopped running while turning at a busy road and created a hazardous situation in traffic. I had to have a mandatory tow off the road to my residence. I called the dealership, and car would not start again so called for a tow (which was covered by GM). The Equinox was taken to a nearby Chevrolet dealership. The second tow and repair were covered by GM under Warranty as I had less than 7000 miles on my SUV. Per the documentation provided by the Chevrolet dealership, the Fuel Pump Driver Control Module had to be replaced in my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. On doing a search on NHTSA, I discovered there was a recall for 2022 Equinox for this issue however it did not apply to my particular VIN. Overall, this incident, in my opinion put me in danger as well as the public who were commuting home and had to avoid my stalled car.

While driving along the road the engine suddenly, without warning shut down. My wife and I were left stranded in the travel lane of the road. The fuel tank had about 3/4 of a tank of gas in it. The engine would not start. When the engine quit, we did not have any control of the steering and we just coast to a stop. We were moving at about 25 to 30 miles an hour on a twisting, hilly road when the engine quit. We were left stranded in a very dangerous curve on a hill. Visibility for oncoming traffic is hampered by the curves and the hill, a dangerous stretch of road. The vehicle was taken to Central Chevrolet via flatbed. The fuel pump module was replaced, and I got my car back the next day. My wife was a nervous wreck. Our Equinox was just over two years old with only 7634 miles on it. To have the engine quit is one thing but to not have control of the steering afterwards or even get into neutral to get it off the road is dangerous to say the least. Central Chevrolet did an excellent job repairing the vehicle and getting it back to me quickly. My concern is will this happen again and if it did happen on the highway, it could be disastrous and possibly deadly.

My 2022 Chevrolet Equinox lost power on two different occasions. The first time I was driving at 45 mph and the car stalled to a stop and would not restart and had to be towed. It had 816 miles on it. The repair sheet stated that it was a fuel pump control module internal fault. The fuel pump control module was replaced. At 8,401miles, the car did the same, but I was on a four-lane highway driving 65mph with the cruise control on and it lost power, stalled and I coasted to a stop and it would not re-start. After being stranded on the side of the highway for almost 2 hours, it was towed. This time the repair stated that it was due to an internal short in the driver. I was fortunate that I was not in heavy traffic or someone would have crashed into me. There were no warnings until the power cut out and the display indicated "low engine power". This is extremely dangerous and I am afraid it will happen again and I may not be in an area where I can navigate to the side of the road. This defect in the fuel system is a danger to me and other drivers. I contacted Chevrolet Customer Service but was told they can only be of assistance after the problem occurs 3 times. Even though the dealer said the problem was not the same problem, it was a problem with the fuel system.

My car has stalled and left me stranded twice now. In June a new Fuel pump control module was put in around 6/3/23 at 6152 miles and Feb 5 at 9064 miles, new FPCM was installed. GM insists there is no recall on my 2022 Equinox, yet this car has had the exact same issue as Recall: 23V013000, twice now. I am very concerned for the Safety of a car that will stop running while you are driving. When this part stops working the car stops running and will not start and leaves you stranded wherever you are. No lights/no warnings it just stops running. I was stranded in the middle of an eight lane busy road in Daytona, FL when my car stopped running. I had just come off the interstate, as I exited to the off ramp and came to a slower speed 30-40 MPH the car started sputtering and shaking before I made the right turn off the ramp. It sputtered about 2/3 blocks and it stalled. Once it started sputtering and shaking I had no power, giving it gas did nothing to increase the engine speed or speed up the car. I was left stranded until 3 guys pushed my car about 2 blocks to safety. My car also stalled in Orlando in June, at a stop sign, it would not start. We had to be out in the road flagging people to go around my car. These are the codes and fix each time. ECM - Engine System P129F The Engine and Transmission System is not performing as expected. I was at a red light and my car has the auto start/stop when your on the breaks for a bit. Light turned green and my car break pedal locked, all the gear lights started flashing. Car then stalled when turning on and off. I was in the VERY busy intersection and lucky no one plowed into me as I was trapped in the middle lane.

While driving on a four lane highway during rush hour my gas peddle stopped working. I drifted to the side of the road, with cars blowing their horns at me. My car was like frozen! AAA came after 45 mins to tow me to the dealership. We were told, Yup its the fuel pump, we currently have 3 other vehicles with the same problem. It's probably going to take at least a week to fix. No, they do not provide loaner car. Update: Dealership informed us that there's no time limit insight to fix our vehicle. The fuel pump is on back order and there are thousands of cars countrywide awaiting for the part.

9/15/2023, noticed a hesitation in the acceleration of the vehicle, when attempting to proceed after a full stop. Purchased the vehicle from CARMAX in Las Vegas, 8/25/2023. Recall Sheets were provided, however - I have been "unable to "REGISTER" the vehicle (in my name) to NHTSA website. When, "remedy" to the RECALLS are available, ???? How will "I" be "notified" to take the car to a Dealership ???

on 08-31-2023 left house and got about 1 mile down the road going about 45 mph and had loss of power and engine stalled. Pulled over and tried to restart engine but would not start, engine light was on. Called dealership and said to have it towed in. 2 days later dealer called and said it was ready and it was a fuel module issue. When picking the car up the service guy said they reprogrammed it. Asked if I had to sign anything and he replied no, so no paperwork was given.

Was approaching intersection for a left hand turn and just before getting to red light engine stalled. Tried at least 6 times to restart but would not. Was 2nd in line at a major intersection so after no luck restarting I called for road side assistance. The police came to direct traffic and then decided best to push me to the gas station next to intersection. While waiting for tow truck I tried starting vehicle about a half hour later and it started. After sitting there waiting for tow it stalled again and would not start. About an hour later tow truck came and at that time it restarted for him to load on to tow truck. The car is waiting for service but its the weekend and will need to wait for Dealership to call when ready.

Fuel Pump Power Control Module failed. My daughter was driving down Carpenter Road in Ypsilanti Michigan when the vehicle stalled and would not start. This is a VERY busy four lane road. The police showed up and helped push her out of the way. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by the dealer. The dealer replaced the part but how do I know that the part is not faulty as well as it appears that there is a potential recall for this vehicle that hasn't been confirmed yet since parts are limited. No warning before the issue happened.

December 17th, 2022 - Check engine light came on with an onstar message to have my engine/transmission system serviced within 7 days. Dealership replaced fuel pump module on December 23rd. Drove the car to a basketball game that evening (14 miles) and check engine light came back on with same onstar message. Took car to dealership on January 3rd (due to holiday, didn't drive vehicle after check engine light came on). Dealership advised it was a low battery. So battery was replaced and advised we should come get the car. When they were driving the car from the back of the lot to the front of the lot - the check engine light came on again. They called us to tell us not to come get the car that they found a new code issue. They advised they would call us tomorrow.
