Your car is consuming oil much faster than normal—you need to top it off every month even after an oil change. You may experience engine stalling if the oil level gets too low, as happened during driving on a busy road. Multiple owners and even a mechanic have reported the same issue, though the exact cause of where the oil is going isn't clear. The fix will likely involve diagnosing where the oil is leaking or burning, which could require inspection of the engine, gaskets, or internal components.

So I know of atleast 4 Chevrolet equinox's all haveing the exact same issue doesn't matter milage all in the same area which have a issue saying engine power system low then it starts to studder and often stalls out or then over revs and trys to take off like it's been slingshotted which is unsafe even after repairing many issues it is coming up as and nothing seems to fix said issue. Also timing jumping and after being professionally fixed it jumps timing again shortly after being repaired also milage doesn't seem to be a factor in this issue as I have 1 that has jumped timing with only 150k miles while the other days after timing was all repaired jumped timing again and it has like 200+k miles and I know of atleast 2 others in the area having the same exact issue.

2012 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH 54,000 MI ON IT SUDDENLY BEGINS TO STALL ON RESTARTS. STALLS AT STOP LIGHTS AND WHEN CAR IS MOVING SLOWLY. VERY, VERY DANGEROUS. HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR A FEW MONTHS AND I'M DEVASTATED. MECHANIC CHECKED AND NO CODES SHOWING, NO OTHER PROBLEMS EXCEPT THE STALLING. AFTER RESEARCH ONLINE IT SHOWS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE CHEVY EQUINOX. YET THERE IS NO RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHY?

I PURCHASED A 2012 CHEVY EQUINOX IN DECEMBER 2016 EVERY 4 MONTHS I HAVE HAD TO RETURN TO THE DEALER FOR PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE. THEY HAVE COMPLETED OIL CONSUMPTION TEST ..REPLACE THINGS AND ASSURED ME THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. I TOLD THE DEALER REPRESENTATIVE HOW I SMELLED GAS AND FUMES AND SHE STATED THERE WERE NO KNOWN RECALLS OR DEFECTS WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE PAID FOR SEVERAL REPAIRS AT THE DEALER. AS OF NOW 6/6/18 VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS REGARDING THE ENGINE STALLING. LIGHT ON FUMES . I AM TERRIFIED THAT I WILL NOT BE CAPABLE OF TAKING OFF OR ACCELERATING WHEN NECESSAY. I HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET BE CAUSE THE INITIALLY SENT ME INFORMATION REGARDING ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE ENGINE STALLS AND FUMES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT RAN OVER A PIECE OF RUBBER TIRE TREAD THAT WAS IN THE ROAD. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE; HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONTACT WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THERE WAS AN ODOR OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT THEN PARKED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED FUEL LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL TANK FRACTURED. THE FUEL LINE ON THE 2012 EQUINOX (IS A FLEX FUEL, DON'T KNOW IF THAT MAKES ANY DIFFERENCE) IS PLASTIC AND NOT PROTECTED FROM ROAD HAZARDS. THE LINE RUNS CLOSE TO THE FRAME ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FROM THE REAR TO FRONT OF THE CAR. ABOUT WHERE THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR IS, THE FUEL LINE HAS BLUE PLASTIC CONNECTORS FASTENING THE PLASTIC FUEL LINE. THIS SECTION OF FUEL LINE AND THE BLUE CONNECTOR TABS SIT LOWER THAN THE VEHICLE FRAME. (THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER SECTION IN FROM THE REAR TIRE THAT SITS A LITTLE HIGHER, BUT STILL UNPROTECTED) . ROAD HAZARDS SUCH AS ICE CHUNKS, HARD SNOW, DIRT/GRAVEL ROADS WITH RUTS OR HIGH CENTER, DIRT CLOTS, ROCKS, DEAD ANIMALS OR ANYTHING THAT IS ABOUT 7- 8 INCHES OR HIGHER ( OR GETS KNOCKED UP THERE) WILL BREAK THESE PLASTIC CONNECTORS OR FUEL LINE AND GAS WILL POUR OUT OF THE VEHICLE. MY FUEL LINE BROKE BY HITTING A SMALL MOUND OF SNOW THAT HAD FROZEN OVERNIGHT, BY BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. AFTER QUICKLY NOTICING THE FUEL LEAK I RUSHED TO A LOCAL AUTO SHOP (LESS THAN 4 MILES) AND LOST ABOUT A FULL TANK OF GAS BEFORE GETTING THERE. NONE OF THE LOCAL DEALERS HAD THIS PART, WAS WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AGAIN AND THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO BAD WIRING AND A FRACTURED TERMINAL ON THE FUEL LINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,400. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
