NHTSA Campaign: 24V327000
Component: EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2024-2025 X5 xDrive40i vehicles. The tire information placard may indicate an incorrect tire size and tire pressure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Risk: Incorrect tire information can allow an incorrectly sized tire to be installed or result in improperly inflated tires, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the tire information placard, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 9, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
NHTSA Campaign: 24V345000
Component: SEAT BELTS:FRONT
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2024 XM, 2025 BMW X5 sDrive40i, X5 xDrive40i, X5 M60i, X5 M, X5 xDrive50e, X6 xDrive40i, X6 M60i, X6 M, X7 xDrive40i, X7 M60i, and Alpina XB7 vehicles. The seat belt system may inaccurately detect that passengers are belted, preventing the seat belt warning light from illuminating and possibly causing the supplemental restraint system to not deploy as intended during a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Risk: A seat belt warning light that does not alert occupants of an unbelted seat belt or an SRS system that deploys improperly can both increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the front seat lower seat belts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 12, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
NHTSA Campaign: 24V104000
Component: ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)
BMW of North America, LLC. (BMW) is recalling certain 2023-2025 BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models and model years. The integrated brake (IB) system may malfunction and result in a loss of power brake assist or cause the Antilock Brake (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) systems to not function properly.
Risk: A loss of power brake assist can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle. Additionally, malfunctioning ABS and/or DSC systems can cause a loss of vehicle control. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the integrated brake system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed between June and December 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or Rolls Royce customer service at 1-877-877-3735.
NHTSA Campaign: 24V697000
Component: ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC):CONTROL MODULE
BMW of North America (BMW) is recalling certain 2023-2024 X1, 2024-2025 X5, 2025 X6, 2023-2025 X7, 740i, 760i, 2024 XM, 530i, 540i, i7, 750e, X2, 2024-2025 i5, 2024 Rolls Royce Spectre, 2025 MINI Countryman S ALL4, JCW Countryman ALL4, and 2025 MINI Hardtop 2 Door (Cooper, Cooper S) vehicles. Please refer to the recall report for the complete list of models. The welds in the servomotor of the integrated brake control module may break, causing a loss of power brake assist and rear brake function. In addition, the Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system may not function.
Risk: A loss of brake power assist or rear brake function can result in extended stopping distance. A loss of ABS or DSC can cause a loss of vehicle handling and control. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will replace the integrated brake system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 13, 2024. Owners can contact BMW Customer Service at 1-800-525-7417.

Power Train,engine →2 issues
Your 2025 BMW X5 M60i experienced a sudden battery failure warning followed by a drivetrain malfunction warning while driving in traffic at 40 mph, causing a complete loss of power. The BMW dealership diagnosed a cracked transmission casing that was leaking fluid, which triggered electrical and mechanical failures. Your transmission casing will need to be replaced with a new unit.

Your dashboard warning light and drivetrain malfunction message appeared unexpectedly while stopping at a red light. The message disappeared after restarting the car, but the dealer diagnosed a problem with 3 fuel injectors that requires replacing the cylinder head. The dealer indicated this is a known issue with the new V8 engines and could be dangerous if you continue driving while the warning is off. The fix will involve replacing the cylinder head and fuel injectors.

Back Over Prevention →2 issues
Your rear cross traffic alert system isn't providing adequate warnings when you back out of parking spaces or driveways. You may get no warning at all, or only a faint warning that doesn't grab your attention—creating a safety risk since you could be hit by a passing vehicle while expecting an alert that never comes. The dealer says the system is working as designed, but you feel this safety feature isn't performing its intended function. A software update or sensor recalibration may be needed to improve alert sensitivity and driver notification.

Your backup camera system's warning beep isn't working when you're backing up near other vehicles or objects. You took your car to the dealer, but they couldn't reproduce the problem during testing and computer diagnostics. The fix may involve diagnosing the camera system, audio alert wiring, or software settings to restore the backup warning function.

Air Bags →1 issue
Your car was in a crash when the driver hit a telephone pole at an unknown speed, but the driver-side and passenger-side airbags did not deploy even though the impact was significant enough to require a hospital visit. No warning lights appeared before the crash. BMW sent a field inspector to examine the vehicle, but they did not explain why the airbags failed to deploy. Diagnosis and repair will likely require a full airbag system inspection and possibly replacement of the airbag control module or sensors.

Vehicle Speed Control,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your 2025 BMW X5 xDrive50e may experience unintended acceleration while parking at very slow speeds. This issue occurred twice — once during initial investigation and again during a parking incident in October 2025 that resulted in a collision with a wall and airbag deployment. The dealership previously inspected the vehicle but reported no problems found. Addressing this issue may require a complete diagnostic of the fuel injection and throttle control systems, software reprogramming, or replacement of acceleration sensors.

Unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your 2025 BMW X5 xDrive50e caught fire on January 9, 2026, shortly after a malfunction warning appeared on the infotainment screen. The cabin filled with smoke while driving, forcing you to exit the vehicle immediately as flames spread from underneath the car to the rear and trunk area. The vehicle is likely a total loss. The fire appears to have originated from an internal electrical or fuel system malfunction rather than an external cause, and BMW should investigate the root cause.

Service Brakes, back Over Prevention, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
While parking into a handicapped space, your car suddenly lurched forward about 4 feet instead of stopping, causing it to hit a parking block, shrub, signage, and an HVAC unit. The braking system appeared to fail, and the forward collision avoidance and backup prevention systems didn't activate as expected. This issue may require inspection of the brake system, sensors, and ADAS (driver assistance) components to determine why they didn't function properly.

Power Train,electrical System →1 issue
Your 2025 BMW X5 shut off without warning while stopped at a traffic light and wouldn't restart, displaying a "Restart not possible. Drivetrain fault" error message along with a "High voltage battery" warning. After about 10 minutes, the vehicle restarted on its own, though the error message changed to suggest the vehicle could be driven. You were able to drive home, but when you checked the vehicle 15 minutes later while parked, the same issue occurred again. A repair will likely involve diagnosing the high-voltage battery system and drivetrain electrical components.

Air Bags,seat Belts,forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
During a head-on collision in your 2025 BMW X5, the front airbags, driver seatbelt pretensioner, and automatic emergency notification system failed to deploy despite a significant impact that reached approximately 12.4 mph of force. The vehicle's crash detection system did activate and recorded the event, but BMW stated the impact force was not sufficient to trigger the restraint systems, though the company has declined to explain its deployment thresholds or provide engineering details about why these safety features did not activate. The vehicle sustained substantial frontal damage and the driver suffered neck injuries. Any repair or resolution would require BMW to investigate the airbag control module fault codes and potentially recalibrate or replace the crash-sensing and restraint system components.

Power Train,electrical System,unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your 2025 BMW X5 xDrive50e is displaying a "Power Supply Malfunction – Stop Vehicle Immediately" warning that tells you to pull over and call for roadside assistance. This same warning appeared before, was repaired at the dealership, but came back the next day after you picked up the car. The repeated malfunction raises concerns about the hybrid power system's reliability and the risk of losing power while you're driving.

Service Brakes →1 issue
Your car is subject to a safety recall (#24v-104) issued in February 2024 for the braking system, but no repair solution has been made available to you yet after 1.5 years. You're concerned about the ongoing safety risk while waiting for the manufacturer to provide a fix.

Power Train,electrical System,exterior Lighting →1 issue
Your brand new X5 50e suddenly lost all electrical power while stopped, leaving you in total darkness with no emergency lights and no ability to restart the car. The dashboard showed a drivetrain malfunction warning just before the complete shutdown. After the dealer replaced parts to fix the problem, the replacement components malfunctioned, and your car has returned to the shop 3 times since with ongoing electrical issues. The loss of emergency lighting creates a serious safety risk, especially if this happens while you're driving.

Service Brakes, Hydraulic →1 issue
Your brakes aren't responding smoothly when you press the pedal, even though no warning lights appear on your dashboard. BMW is aware of this issue through a recall (Campaign 24V104000) related to the electronic stability control and brake system, but replacement parts haven't been available since the recall started in 2024. The dealer hasn't been able to diagnose or repair your vehicle because the necessary parts aren't in stock yet.

Electrical System →1 issue
Your hybrid battery overheats in hot weather and won't charge using the standard 110V home charger that came with your car. Because the battery won't charge, your climate control system stops working. Your vehicle could overheat and shut down in extreme conditions. The fix will likely involve a software update, a different charging solution, or inspection of the battery cooling system.

Visibility/wiper →1 issue
Your windshield has cracked twice in 19 months from minor road debris (gravel and sand) that normally wouldn't cause damage. Both times, small impacts turned into major fractures within a day, which is unusual compared to your 40 years of driving experience on the same roads. You suspect the BMW windshield glass may be more fragile than it should be. A replacement or warranty claim through BMW may be needed to address the glass durability issue.
