Your car's safety systems didn't detect or warn you when the rear passenger door was ajar while driving, and the door struck something during the incident. Even after the collision occurred, your car failed to alert you that the door was open, send a collision warning, or automatically stop the vehicle. You believe the car should prevent movement with any door open and provide continuous alerts if a door opens while driving.

While driving on the highway at 70 mph, your panoramic sunroof glass suddenly exploded outward with a loud bang for no apparent reason — you weren't near other vehicles and didn't hear any impact. The glass shattered without any warning lights appearing on your dashboard. Fortunately, your sunroof cover was closed, so glass didn't fall into the cabin, but the sudden failure could have caused you to lose control or get into an accident. The dealership said they haven't seen this issue before and suggested outside influence caused it, but the glass was pointing upward when it exploded outward.

While driving on the highway at 65 mph, your moon roof suddenly exploded with a loud bang, even though it was closed. Small glass shards came through into the car, and wind blew into the cabin. You safely pulled over and discovered the moon roof had completely failed with no apparent cause—it wasn't hit by debris or damaged beforehand. The vinyl backing prevented all the glass from falling into the car. Fixing this will likely require a complete moon roof assembly replacement and inspection of the roof frame.

Your dashboard showed a drivetrain failure warning, and you experienced stuttering or hesitation while driving, though the car continued to operate normally without breaking down. This could indicate an issue with the transmission, all-wheel drive system, or related sensors that needs inspection. A diagnostic scan and potential repairs to the drivetrain system may be required.

My X5 was accelerating on its own. I was able to control the speed with the brakes but once I took my foot off the brake the vehicle would accelerate again. It went as fast as 50 MPH. I did shut off the vehicle at a stop light to disengage any possible system. The car continued to accelerate once I let off the brake. Once home, my garage smelled horribly of burnt rubber from riding the brake pads. No system dash board notifications appeared. BMW dealership took the vehicle for inspection and couldn’t find an issue. National BMW then sent an engineer out. They told me there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and it was user error?! I refused to take back the vehicle. No one ever drove the car to try to reproduce the unintended acceleration issue. Overall, very concerning that the vehicle will be sold to an unsuspecting driver.
